If Pike was held back for strictly sports reasons that is sad. I would hope that isn't the case and know nothing about the situation. Having said that, Dixies current bigs werent very good, and to me while Pike was better than whoever was playing over him, he still has a lot of work. So if he really is supposed to be a sophmore of junior, then it might be an advantage for him that he is only a freshman and has more time to work on it. There really is a huge advantage in being an old 18 or 19 year old senior playing against 16 and 17 year olds.

I'd have to look at it, but I doubt CovCath's will be a walk in the park. I'm sure they play some pretty solid competition. I have noticed a lot of Lexington area teams play tough competition.

Seriously, I have absolutely no connection to Darius Miller aside from watching him play one game his senior year. So I'm totally unbiased when I say, people who are hard on Miller really need to step back. There are far worse issues with the UK basketball team.. In the games that Miller has played that Ive watched, while he has made some mistakes, he's also had some great moments. He is progressing and shows a lot of promise. He's only a freshman. Give it time...and don't eat your words if Hood ends up doing the same thing his freshman year.

If the difference in the game is on the inside, then Boone will handle this one easily. Smith is not athletic enough or strong enough to hold down Earls. I think Boone will win this one by 12.

I want Holmes to win the region, because I truly think they are the only legit chance we have at a state championship from the 9th this year.

I think Boone will handle Beechwood, but if they have an off night and Beechwood has a stellar one, it's a possible upset. I still see Beechwood one and done though. Holmes got a walk IMO. They should be able to easily make it to the region final and win. But just because they should doesn't mean they will..

Comparing Elliot Co. and Beechwood is ridiculous as far as talent and overall play. Beechwood isn't even close... I don't know that a team will "run over" them in the region, but I see them being one and done as well...not because of their size, but because they just aren't THAT good...they've had a great season, but the region is where it stops.

I don't know. I think if they get Highlands or St. Henry/Dixie whoever won that, then MAYBE. But doubtful. You never know though!

I think Pittman will be fine. While I agree that Smith is not really that much of a threat down low and Pittman could have probably had his way, I think he contributed in a solid way and hopefully will continue in that way.

I would have to agree. Not having Isler and even Darner in there is questionable. And I too thought there would be more from the 9th region. I mean no slight to Mark Kelly and AJ Smith, but I can think of many others better than them that were left off. But nevertheless, it's going to be a great baseball season. Especially up here in NKY! So glad it's here..

I did not think Beechwood would be able to keep it close. I knew this one would be a bigger loss in terms of points than the first. Beechwood scooted past CovCath barely, there was no way they could hang with the big dogs. Nice to see some balanced scoring from Holmes..

There are some people on here who shouldn't be and some people missing who should be. Some good players are mentioned though. Gonna be a good season.

I have a family member who at a large school [3000 kids] and a baseball powerhouse in the south, played on the JV team as a 7th and 8th grader. He was MVP his 8th grade year, and went on to have a very successful HS career. Is now playing D1 baseball. I do not agree with people who think middle schoolers should not have the opportunity to be on a HS team. As long as the kid is playing people on their own level, that is what matters. It makes the player better. A middle school with the talent my family member had did not benefit from playing with kids his own age.

While I agree you never know, if Beechwood wins it will be a stroke of pure luck. They will have to play a fantastic game, and Holmes will have to play way below their ability [which has happened]. Beechwood got beat by what, 18 or something the first time around? I see it being similiar. Beechwood won't hang around too long.

Holmes convincingly. By 15 or so. Beechwood does not have an answer for Pittman down low, and while Beautell and Romes are good, especially Beautell when he is lights out from outside, I don't think that's enough to stop Riley, Johnson Brothers, and Pittman.

I have a family member who literally everytime he played a team that had a student section, they would yell something when he went to the foul line due to other sports and friends etc. He got a kick out of it, lol. I think in some ways it's the whole "bad or good at least they're talking about you".

Awww the poor kid. Yes the layup would have cut it to two, but at the same time, there were much bigger problems for CovCath last night than one missed layup after a GREAT defensive play. Us shooting 3's when we're UP by 9 was incredible..:ohbrother:

The Crazies were out in full force, and I know the basketball team and especially the seniors really appreciated it.

The thing is, I feel for the kid. I think in his mind he is just being aggressive. But he needs to know where to draw the line and it is apparent he repeatedly keeps crossing it. And yes a bad rep won't help him with refs. He has two years to work it out and I'm sure he can. But a statement might need to be made. As for Pittman, well I think you probably hit the nail on the head with your idea that it wasn't his defensive play that has him sitting on the bench at the beginning.

I would like to inform anyone who thinks I'm just trying to put down Holmes, I'm a big fan. I would like for them to bring home the state championship if all works well. I just don't like seeing a kid repeatedly getting out of hand. There comes a time to make a statement and it might be about time is my point.

I think Ricardo Johnson is exactly the type of player the two you speak of should strive to be. Good head on his shoulders, smart basketball player, and just an overall talented athlete.

When one T is called, no it does not reflect poorly. It is typically an emotion outburst, or a show of youth or immaturity. Arnold has continually had a problem with this correct? Yes it does begin to reflect poorly on the team and the program that something is not done to control it. Discipline or whatnot. I'm sorry if you disagree, and I knew you would, but I do not see how it can be disputed that it can make a team/program look bad. PM me if you'd like to continue this discussion. And I fully understand it could have been a case of him getting caught and Giwa not getting caught, but it is a reoccuring problem with Arnold, NOT Giwa.
