Henley wins Coach of the year.

Riley is very good and will be the unsung hero if Holmes wins the region and brings home a state title to the Dawg Pound. I really like the way he plays the game.

I like the way Riley plays as well. Very workmanlike. Not alot of hystrionics. Just goes about his business.

This award is very well deserved and couldn't happen to a better kid. Riley is one of the hardest working kids in nky and I couldn't be any more proud of the young man. He has put in countless hours before school in the Holmes jr. high gym to improve his game over the past 6 years to get him to the level where he is today. I'm sure his mother will be very happy for him when she hears the news. She has been there supporting him and pushing him since day one back in elementary school.

Keep up the good work "Meel". Good things will continue to come.

That is great news for Jamel, the kid plays hard night in and night out, probably one of the best shooters that has came through Holmes in quiet some time. I am glad to hear this. Also congrats to coach Henley on his honor as well. Now they have to handle business Sunday and Tuesday to rep the 9th at Rupp.

I would have voted McFarland 1 and Riley 2, but both kids are exactly what you want as a coach. Congrats to Jamel on a well deserved award...

I believe there will also be an interview with Riley tonight on ch. 5 news. I don't think it has anything to do with POY, but still should be pretty cool.

Both deserve most of the credit for where their Teams stand.

Riley deserved it. He put up the numbers and is what makes Holmes go. Gabbard controls how good Boone County does. Gabbard makes McFarland go. Don't think I'm hating on McFarland because I'm not, he's a good ball player but I think Riley can beat you from the arc and/or penetration.

I said Riley deserved it, just that I would have voted slightly differently. But your comment is just like saying Riley didn't deserve it because teams have to spend so much attention on stopping Rico and Pittman. McFarland is a very heady player that goes out every night and makes his team better. Excatly the same as Riley. Couldn't go wrong with either one...

I agree. I hope some don't feel the need to debate it and take away from the topic at hand. Both would be well deserved winners, but as a Holmes fan, I couldn't be any more proud of Jamel for winning the award. I believe the coaches voted on the award, which makes it even more special since it was his fellow peers that nominated him for it.

People have doubted him almost all his life because of his size and he has been the true example of what hard work and dedication can do for you. What he lacks in size, he makes up with in heart and desire for the game.

Well deserved. Nice kid, and a nice ball player who really is the leader of his team. Couldn't have picked a better winner.

Good to see hard work rewarded and recognized.
