Isler is now 8-0 on the season, against some top teams in NKY and around the state. Impressive. It helps to have the defense behind him and the lineup CovCath has. CovCath just keeps rollin. They also won the game right before verse Clark maybe?

Looks to me like CovCath has made a couple of statements in the last couple weeks. Good job guys! I heard that Franklin Co's pitcher was VERY good and that most of the guys were indeed having a hard time catching up to him in the beginning, aside from Isler, Maile and Darner. Those three are just solid hitters who actually prefer that type of pitcher. Good job to Brandon on a well pitcher game, and Brandon Lafever on what sounds like a heck of a bunt to win the game!

I don't use pitching as an excuse. Dixie won this game and I'm happy for them. After our top 3 or 4 pitchers, we have some troubles and CCH needs to get that worked out. It isn't Dixies fault our pitchers walked and hit everyone at bat. I do feel youre being a little cocky though. CovCath's bats will come around, that isn't a question. And I'm confident our one and two, probably even three pitcher will right the ship against ya'll next time. And of course CovCath will save Nute or Isler in the regions, they want to win as bad as anyone and ya'll are a good team.

Hmm this is a bit surprising. Ok, so nevermind I can't read and noticed CovCath is #6! Go CCH!! I'm a bit shocked Apollo has stayed at the top...

I have to say, I did not understand Roenker pitching vs. Dixie instead of yesterday vs. CCH for the district game, unless they thought it would rain out. Obviously Roenker needs to be rested for Saturday..but wouldn't Tuesday to Saturday be enough? Regardless, I don't think Roenker would have made that huge a difference. Stewart [i think that was the pitcher for HC] did a nice job, CCH's bats are just too big and with Isler only giving up one run, they'd have had to hold CovCath to one or zero, which seems unlikely. Possible..but unlikely.

I have to disagree, I think Roenker is a good pitcher and I'd love for CovCath and Holy Cross to go ace vs ace, and in that battle, I think CovCath comes out on top. Their bats are just too big. Are they beatable, yeah of course. Not to mention, even if CovCath pitched Nute or Krumme, they have proven themselves vs. good teams, esp. in the LIT this past weekend, so I'd take them in that scenario as well. But, it doesn't look like it matters, it's doubtful this game gets played today.

It was not a strike and he did not swing. The umps were awful all day, and inconsistent on their zone to say the least, or were consistently bad if you look at it that way. And to clarify, I do not blame the errors on the turf at all. It was 100% errors made by CovCath. Our middle infield usually comes through for us and this morning they just didn't have it. It's alright, I think they know that they had every opportunity to win that game and that they learned from it.

Oh and I forgot to say, these were three GREAT games to watch and it's nice to see CovCath show they deserve to be and are one of the best teams in the state at this point.

Lost 8 to 6. I'll let TOG give details as I'm sure he'll have plenty to say, but these very well could have been and should have been a sweep with three wins, not just two big ones. First two innings CCH had more errors than theyve had all season I believe. Gave up four runs, unearned behind Nutini, who deserved better defense as he pitched very well. Still almost pulled it out though! St. X took advantage of the mistakes. I feel VERY secure in our top three pitchers, and Schlagbaum [did a very nice job closing out the Apollo game].

Covcath made a statement this weekend. With winning against LCA [who IMO looked the best of the three] and Apollo, and a game that until the end was close despite the most errors they have committed all season vs St. X they deserve to move up without a doubt.

Congrats to Luke. What concerned me was the sixth inning of this game. Coach K waited way to long to make a pitching change. Shumate threw a very nice game but was running out of gas. I only saw one error that hurt Cov Cath and that was by the SS in the 6th on a double ball. What other "D" issues did I miss? Give Holmes credit, they didn't give up.

It was good to see Gerwe maintain his composure and keep his head in it, after back to back HR's by Adkins and Murray. I think someone who doesn't get much recognition on here, but should is Lafever. He had a great hit at the beginning of the game, and has really offered even more padding for Maile, Darner, and Isler. Standout play of the game for me was where Darner overthrew first base, [which hardly ever will happen, so I don't look much at the error at all] and Hiller from Scott rounded third to go home and was nearly there but was thrown out by a strike from Isler to Maile who laid the tag on. Stuff like that makes games worth going to. The poor right fielder for Scott, I don't know if it was sun, or just maybe not playing that position regularly [and I honestly don't know, so that is not sarcasm], but he seemed pretty lost out there at times.

I'll be pulling for the Covington Catholic baseball team to win at Florence Freedom stadium in the baseball regionals. But I'll enjoy watching Boone regardless..

I think they are both great athletes, and I misunderstood what you were saying, I apologize. Though I still would not put either of them ahead of the three at Covington Catholic. Agree to disagree, because it doesn't matter, they're all great at what they do.

Totally agree. Darner has done a great job on the couple of batters he faces a game. But truly any longer than an inning and it would get messy. When they hit him, they hit him HARD. Even the outs are hard hard hit balls. I think he does best in a situation where he needs to get one guy out [the batter]. He has done great in that sense!

Covcath is developing a few, but they still have a long way to go. Once they get that together, the strength of the CCH team will go up even more.

I've gotta tell you, I agree with a lot of what you say, but the top two or three most pure baseball athletes in NKY are all one team. Cotton is a great athlete, and Lokesake can hit a ball really well. And they are both a blast to watch, but they really aren't ahead of the three at CovCath.

Last year I remember Isler and Maile both hit them out with wooden bats. And I think Dunnaway very well has the hitting ability to do so. Let's not say that hitting the ball out of the park with a wooden bat is the criteria for being a pro etc. There is more to it. I know Maile is a great ball player and he will do great things, but there are many others who will as well. And to the poster who said the two double plays killed CovCath's momentum, yes they did. But it was one of the three strongest hitters on the team who did both, and it's not often that will happen, so it is what it is. The number two pitcher for CovCath got shelled and that won't happen very often either. Covcath will benefit from this loss.
