Apollo being number one is most surprising. They lost twice in the LIT (to Cov. Cath. and St. X) and then to Lexington Catholic on April 11.

Not much love for teams east of I-75. No Harrison County, Greenup County, etc.

 

In Region 10, Harrison is 14-5 and has won 4 straight, Clark County is 15-5 and is 6-1 in its last 7 games, and Bourbon County is 16-1.

 

In Region 16, Greenup County has won 9 straight, including all 3 of its LIT matchups.

 

Region 13 has several teams with gaudy records. Maybe they don't venture out of SE KY enough to catch the eye of the voters.

Harrison County will get a chance to prove whether they belong over the next couple of weeks.

With Dailey back in the rotation now they can become contenders again.

I'm a bit shocked Apollo has stayed at the top...

I'm surprised that Apollo stayed at #1 after two losses at the LIT. No big deal though either way. They saved a senior lefty Jake Boswell for Tuesday's district game. But it got rained out two nights in a row. Boswell hasnt' lost yet this year, would have been nice to see him throw in the LIT instead of a freshman.

Other than Owensboro, do they play baseball outside of the Golden Triangle?

Harrison just got its ace pitcher back this week. To not have them in the top 25 best teams in kentucky is ridiculous. They have lost some games that are uncalled for but they havn't been beat with any of their top 4 pitchers on the mound.

Have you looked at Bourbon's schedule? To say it is weak would be an understatement.

 

 

Oh, there's no doubt that it is a weak schedule. But many of the tourneys across the Commonwealth are "invitationals". Meaning you have to be invited.

 

I'm not sold on Bourbon County as a powerhouse, or even necessarily a ranked team. Just pointing out that the folks doing the voting seem to have a narrow geographical orientation - at least this week.

Out of the Kentucky schools, only two teams Harrison has beaten have records better than .500. They beat Estill County (13-5) and Nicholas County (11-6). The rest of their wins are against teams that are .500 or worse. They lost to the two best Kentucky schools they played, Greenup County (16-7) and Newport Central Catholic (14-5). Neither Greenup County or NCC is in the top 25. I wouldn't say it is so ridiculous to not have Harrison County in the top 25 either. Like Hilltopper said, they'll have upcoming games to prove whether or not they are worthy of being mentioned as a top 25 team. As of right now though, they really haven't beaten anyone to prove that.
