  1. The high score is a surprise. The outcome is not.
  2. I don't think Corey is the kid they're referring to as "quitting" or whatever is going on.
  3. If you have not heard of Corey Littrell then you probably don't follow Kentucky High School baseball very closely.
  4. This is not my poll, this is the preseason coaches poll. 1. Lexington Catholic 2. Trinity 3. Pleasure Ridge Park 4. Tates Creek 5. Lexington Christian 6. Bullitt East 7. Apollo 8. Harrison County 9. Eastern 10. West Jessamine 11. St. Xavier 12. Male 13. Elizabethtown 14. Owensboro Catholic 15. Henderson County 16. Lawrence County 17. Covington Catholic 18. Franklin County 19. Christian County 20. Danville 21. Paul Dunbar 22. Bryan Station 23. Owensboro 24. Ballard 25. Henry Clay
  5. Southern 70-54. They get up and down the floor well and Central is far too inexperienced.
  6. Probably need to wait and see the draw before making any predictions...
  7. All good points from the NKY guys...that's why this poll is completely meaningless! It will be interesting to see how the 9th plays out this year since there seems there's no clear cut favorite to dominate. Niner, you're probably right about Danville. Doing it over I would probably put them ahead of Mercer County, but probably not West. Regardless, it should be a very competitive region. I guess I had Danville so low due to their awful showing against Lexington Catholic in semi-state.
  8. Didn't Beechwood win the 9th region last year with a pretty young team? Cov Cath lost a whole lot but Coach Krump will have them competing at the top of the region - right, Old Guy?
  9. Some quick notes: I don't think Lex Cath will be #1, but they're defending state champs so the spot is theirs to lose (side note to quick note: I didn't think Lex Cath would be #1 last year either). No way do I know much about all 16 regions in Kentucky, but I did try to include at least one team from each region...thoughts based much on last years record and how many players they have returning. Terrible logic, I know. Anyway, enjoy...and please, tell me how bad I messed this up. 1. Lexington Catholic 2. Bullitt East 3. Trinity 4. Eastern 5. West Jessamine 6. Harrison County 7. 10. Maybe you could give us a little more info on the two...
  11. Congratulations Mr. Witt! Your best baseball is definitely ahead of you!
  12. Harrison will be above and beyond everyone else in the 10th region. That doesn't always mean a regional championship, but they will be a huge favorite.
  13. Yeah, you are right. And I will agree that Tates Creek will probably be favored in the 11th region this year.
  14. I wouldn't say Tates Creek has "blown it" in their districts. They just have had the misfortune of playing in the 43rd. Keep this in mind: 2009- lost to Lex Cath (state champs) 2008- lost to Lafayette (ok, they blew this) 2007- lost to Dunbar (state champs) 2006- lost to Lex Cath (state champs) 2005- lost to Lafayette (district champs) 2004- lost to Lafayette (state runner up) 2003- lost to Dunbar (state champs) So in the last seven years, they have lost in the districts to four state champs and one state runner up. I'd say many teams would "blow it" in the districts if that's who they had to play.
  15. Maybe because they went 13-14 last year and lost big in the district finals and first round of the region??? :idunno:
  16. They won't lose another game this year if they keep cancelling the games because of H1N1.
  17. Corey Littrell is the real deal and will be the best pitcher in KY next year. Here are his stats from last season/summer: Trinity Spring Season: Record 8-2, 70 IP, 93 Ks, 27 BBs, 38 Hits given up, and only 4 earned runs (0.40 ERA). KBC Summer Season: Record 5-0, 36 IP, 39 Ks, 11 BBs, 21 Hits given up, and only 4 earned runs (0.78 ERA). Combined Stats for Spring/Summer: Record 13-2, 106 IP, 132 Ks, 38 BBs, 59 Hits given up, and only 8 earned runs (0.53 ERA). Convinced?
  18. Western Hills High School in Frankfort is looking for a new head baseball coach. No word on a replacement.
  19. Man reached on an error. Next batter reached on a bunt single. Then one runner eventually scored on a single and a second run scored on a fielder's choice. Rueff had retired 16 straight until the Harrison batter reached on an error.
  20. Coach Kevin Clary and staff have done an amazing job. I didn't see Lexington Catholic making it out of the district, much less the region, semi-state and into the final four. I know this is Coach Clary's first year as the head coach, but they're doing something right, making it to the 11th region finals for four years in a row and winning three of those region titles, not to mention a state title in 2006. Give credit where credit is due. I think with a resume like that he can wear his hat whatever way he chooses.
  21. Tough to have Rueff pitch so well and not get any offensive support. Logan Dailey must have gotten the outs when he needed them. Tough way to lose.
