Best 10th region Team 2010

Harrison.

You could probably cut and paste that response every year and be dead on!

They have won the semi-state the last two years and return the majority of their team. I don't see anyone in the region beating them at all this upcoming year. This team has the experience that could get them a ring this year.

Beyond Harrison County this region is pretty much open. Campbell County, Brossart, Scott and Clark County are always tough. Pendleton County and Bourbon County also return a lot of talent. Come spring, someone is going to have to put forth their A++ game to beat Harrison County in the Region.

I know one thing, I am ready for it to get started!

Top Ten

1) Harrison

2) Scott

3) Clark County

4) Campbell County

5) Bishop Brossart

6) Bourbon County

7) Montgomery County

8) Pendleton County

9) Nicholas County

10) Mason County

Scott could have and should have beat them last year, but I don't see anyone in the region beating Harrison this year with that very talented class coming back for one more season.

Scott graduated 10+ seniors and don't know if they had that strong of a JV team to just reload this year.

Harrison will be above and beyond everyone else in the 10th region. That doesn't always mean a regional championship, but they will be a huge favorite.

Cov Cath can attest to that. HUGE favorites last year and ran into a hot pitcher. Any given day.

Their JV team, unless they improve alot over this offseason, will be average at best. With that said though, they will have one of the best players in the region in the form of Zach Sowders. Zach pitched the regional final last year against Harrison and really held his own as the game really could have gone either way. He and Logan Dailey of Harrison County will be the top 2 pitchers in the regioin and I don't see anybody else close enough to those two.

This is a very good preseason list. I'd put Pendleton County a little higher, and Scott a little lower. Beyond that, I'd say this is right on the money.

This is a little early, but I’ll add my 2 cents.

Pre-Season 10th :

2. GRC – Only graduated 3 seniors from last year’s team. Bailey will be hard to replace at 2nd base, but GRC returns most of their pitching staff and will have a good rotation with Seniors Jackson, Bell, Whittman and Turner. GRC may also have the best hitter in the 10th in McQuerry, who is only a sophomore.

3. (A) Montgomery Co. – Graduated four starters from last year’s team. MC will have 3 solid pitcher in Combs, Lee and Potter, but will need a few others to step up to have an above average season. MC returns 5 solid seniors and a good freshman and sophomore class.

3. (B) Bourbon Co. – Lost 6 to 7 starters at key positions to graduation, which included 2 of their best pitchers and some big bats. BC will return 2 solid pitcher in Robertson and Mullins, but not sure if they’ll have enough run production for them.

3. © Bishop Brossart – Graduated 7 from last years team, didn’t get to see them play last year so I’m not familiar enough to commit any further, if someone familiar with Brossart would commit more that would be great.

3.(D) Campbell Co. – Graduated 8 from last years team, but I did notice that 6 of the 8 were listed as pitcher. Again, didn’t get to see them play last year so I’m not familiar enough to commit any further, if someone familiar with CC would commit more that would be great.

3. (E) Scott High – According to last years roster they graduated 12 senior last year and one of those being the 10th region POY. My guess this will be a rebuilding year for Scott, but once again, didn’t get to see them play last year so I’m not familiar enough to commit any further, if someone familiar with SH would commit more that would be great.

3. (F) Nicholas Co. – Year of graduation not listed with their roster so I’m not sure how many players they lost to graduation, but I do know they return a very solid player in Campbell.

3. (G) Mason Co. - Only lost 3 seniors to graduation last year. MC is in the weakest district in the region, so they should have another easy trip to the 10th region tournament again this year.

Have at it guys.

Harrison is a huge favorite to win the 10th and GRC is the 2nd favorite because of pitching depth. After that, 3A thru G, in my opinion is a toss up.

Question for a Harrison fan or someone with info. Did Matthew Dye have TJ surgery on his elbow and if so will he be back for his senior year?

In regards to the above post, next year will be alot of unfamiliarity with alot of players as Scott will virtually will be replacing their whole starting lineup with the exception of Zach Sowder. Joe Adkins started at 1B for the Eagles last year for a good portion of the season but struggled and was later replaced. I believe he will be able to use the experience he gained from his junior season to help improve upon his senior season so I'm expecting a big year for Joe. As for the underclassmen that are coming up there is a couple players that show some promise. The Eagles will have a good pitcher in the form of Hoskins (not a 100% on his first name) who is able to get a little giddy-up on the ball now and then. The Eagles will have questions at alot of positions going into next year and to tell you the truth I don't know enough at this point to get a good grasp on the team other than what I have just stated. I did see a very, very good catcher the past year on the JV squad that had a very good arm and had a great pop time so I'll try and find a name. When tryouts roll around I'll be able to give a better description to what Scott will bring the table to next year.
