  1. Someone corrected me in saying we can take Bell County off the undefeated list of teams, because they lost on spring break. Apparentally Lexington Catholic can now be removed off the list as well. The scoreboard is showing Estill County beat Lex Cath 5-2. The list is down to six.
  2. I'm not sure anyone can say Western Hills or Franklin County is the better team right now. Western Hills has beaten better teams so far this season, but both teams are 8-0. We should learn a lot more on Thursday night.
  3. Final per the scoreboard. Someone please give details on this game.
  4. If you look back over the last ten years or so Western Hills has not had much of a program. They didn't have a winning season until 2007 at 15-13, and then they were 18-12 last year. This year they are off to an 8-0 start so something is obviously different there this year. However, you do have validity in your statement. Franklin County has had several winning seasons in a row, they were 24-10 last year against a tough schedule, and they too, are off to an 8-0 start. You are correct in saying Western Hills has to prove theirselves against Franklin County. Either way, looks like the two Frankfort teams have very solid clubs and should both move onto the 11th region and be contenders.
  5. Greenup County doesn't seem to be as strong as their state team last year. Did they lose much? Are they still favored to win the 16th region again anyway? I like Raceland. They're only 4-6, but have lost four games to quality teams by just 1 run, could easily be 8-2. Boyd County should be thrown into the mix of contenders as well.
  6. I'm not sure. I don't know how it works, but the majority of scores are posted the night of the games. Do coaches have to call it in or can anyone call it in? Or is there a website you can go to and enter scores? I'm sure I could look around the site and find this information, but I'll take the lazy man's approach and hope someone else knows the answer. Actually, if you look at the top of the baseball forum there is a thread about the scoreboard. It says there is a 1-800 number you can call, but didn't give the full number. I clicked on the link that took me to the scoreboard, but couldn't the 1-800 there either (I didn't look very hard).
  7. As far as I'm aware, they are 7-3 this year. According to their website, they were 2-2 against out of state competition on spring break. http://www.eteamz.com/prpbaseball/index.cfm? They are a top team every year: 2008: 38-4 (State Champs) 2007: 33-10 (State Semifinals) 2006: 36-6 (State Semifinals) 2005: 32-5 (Lost in region finals) 2004: 29-7 (Lost in region finals) 2003: 31-6 (Lost in region semifinals) 2002: 29-4 (Lost in region finals) So in the last seven years, they average about a 32-6 record. I'd say that puts them at the top of the state.
  8. Sorry. I was going by the scoreboard. I'm sure there are several games from spring break that haven't been reported for schools. I believe PRP went 2-2 while they were out of state for spring break, but don't think the scores have yet been reported to the scoreboard. I guess there are seven undefeated teams then.
  9. From what I found on the scoreboard, there are eight teams still undefeated. I have included the region, the undefeated team and their next two or three games. It appears the undefeated teams will dwindle down to 1 or 2 in the next week or so. Who is the best out of the current undefeated teams? Will any of these teams make much of an impact in the post season? When is the last time, if ever, a team finished undefeated in Kentucky? Region 1: Paducah Tilghman (Lone Oak, UHA, Murray) Region 7: Male (Eastern, Ballard, Henry Clay) Region 9: Covington Catholic (Conner, Boone, Cooper) Region 10: Bourbon County (Grant, Harrison) Region 11: Franklin County (Frankfort, Woodford County, Western Hills) Region 11: Lexington Catholic (Lexington Christian, Estill County, Trinity) Region 11: Western Hills (Woodford County, Frankfort, Franklin County) Region 13: Bell County (Out of State Teams) I could see Paducah Tilghman losing to Lone Oak or Murray. Male can lose any of their next three games. Boone County can definitely beat Covington Catholic. I predict Harrison will take care of Bourbon County. Either Franklin County or Western Hills will end the week with a loss (they play each other). Lexington Catholic will have tough games with Lexington Christian and Trinity. Not sure about Bell County. Should be an interesting week for the undefeated teams. It seems we'll have many fewer undefeated teams to talk about next week.
  10. This games raises many questions. Is Lincoln County for real or did Mercer County just have one of those days? Or, is Mercer having a down year? They had a very good team last year and I thought they would be much of the same this year, but didn't see them losing to Lincoln County. Is Weir a dominant pitcher for Lincoln? Obviously he pitched really well to 2-hit Mercer. Good win for Lincoln County nonetheless.
  11. 1. Lexington Catholic (defending 11th region champs, knocked off #1 Apollo) 2. Western Hills (beat #2 PRP and #5 Tates Creek) 3. Tates Creek (only because they lost to Western Hills do I put them behind them) 4. Lexington Christian (this may be too high for them, but don't they have 1 or 2 really good pitchers?) 5. Franklin County (7-0, handily beat West Jessamine and Scott County... will see how good they are when they play Western Hills) 6. Lafayette (a definite sleeper, beat Dunbar and Eastern, but lost to Scott County, Ballard and Manual... are they young?) 7. Madison Central (good record, a lot of out of state opponents) 8. Henry Clay (good win against Manual, may actually be a lot higher than this, I don't know?) 9. Paul Dunbar (good win against Manual, seems to be struggling as of late) 10. Scott County (beat the teams they're supposed to beat, lost to those they're supposed to lose to, other than beating Lafayette) 11. Bryan Station (already lost four games to city schools... are they a year away from competing?) 12. Woodford County (appears to be a rare down year for Woodford) 13-17. Mix and match as you please. Even though it's "1/3" of the season complete, it's still too early to tell. Plus, several teams have played out of state teams, so not much to compare by. As far as this being a down year for the 11th region (as read on other threads), I don't think that's the case. It appears there are far less dominant pitchers as a whole (Trevor Gott from Tates Creek the best?), but still several quality teams that can compete at a high level.
  12. Looking at the scoreboard, Franklin County is scoring just over 8 runs a game, and seems to be doing it against good competition (10 against Owensboro, 11 against Scott County, 11 against West Jessamine). I'm going to go out on a limb and say Franklin County will not be shut out, regardless of who Western Hills pitches. They can obviously hit the ball.
  13. What summer team did they play on? Will they have the same summer team this year?
  14. Should be interesting to see who will now pitch for both teams. Both are scheduled to have district games Tuesday and Wednesday before their games Thursday. It appears that Woodford County will be the only team that they need to be concerned about. Is their district seeded based on season play or is it a random draw like the 43rd?
  15. Looking at the scoreboard, Franklin County won all three games last year by scores of 6-2, 8-0, and 11-5. I don't think either team lost that much from last years teams.
  16. That is surprising that they both pitched. Butler losing 11-1 to Fern Creek makes their win over Bullitt East even more surprising. Did McGrath pitch for Butler in this game? Giving up ten runs doesn't sound like he's keeping too many batters off balance. I understand what you mean though. What year is McGrath? I haven't heard of him or seen him pitch. Committed to any college yet?
  17. Surprising. I never thought anyone would score 15 runs on Bullitt East. How much did Butler lose from last year's team? They were pretty good last year, but didn't think they would be much of a region contender with Bullitt East and PRP. I'm assuming Bowles or McAlphin (not sure if I got their names right?) did not pitch for Bullitt East.
  18. Sounds like an alum who didn't get to play so he's taking it out on the coaches. They've won close games against #2 PRP and #5 Tates Creek. They advanced to the regional semifinals last year before losing to eventual 11th region champion Lexington Catholic. Sounds like Western Hills is competing "when the heat is on."
  19. This win surprises me. Watching Lexington Catholic against North Laurel, it appeared to me that they would struggle this year. However, beating #1 Apollo should let everyone in the 11th region know they're a legitimate contender to successfully defend their title.
  20. This should be a really good game. Both appear to be sleepers in the 11th region. I know Franklin County is not ranked, but they just easily beat #10 West Jessamine. Western Hills is #9, and has beaten two other top ten teams. Both teams have a pitcher who can shut down anyone, Thompson for Franklin County and Riddle for Western Hills. This being a district game I would assume both teams will throw these two kids.
  21. Big win for Lafayette. Who did Lafayette pitch? Anyone have details on this game? Can Lafayette come out of the 43rd?
