Does that mean #1 Apollo isn't as good as everyone thinks? Or #10 West Jessamine and #18 Christian County... all teams Lexington Catholic has beaten.

 

I'll stop myself. I didn't start the thread to debate how good Lexington Catholic is... I was just wondering details on the game. Who pitched for Estill County? Who pitched for Lexington Catholic? Did errors dictate the game? Etc...

 

Estill County came out of their region last year as did Lexington Catholic. I'm pretty sure both teams are pretty good. I was just wondering specifics of the game.

Estill beats Catholic by 3 a day after losing to Clay by 9... So just because a team is good the year before, it makes them a good team??? Thats interesting...since Catholic lost an SEC pitcher and one of the best coaches in the state.

I'm not saying they are good because of their success last year. They have beaten three really good opponents this year, whom I listed in my previous post. I'll give you that I am assuming Estill County is good because of last year's success, I don't know much about them. But, given their success last year, and looking at their results this year, it appears they're probably a solid team.

I don't think there is any really dominant team this year in the state. I think there is more parity than ever before. From what I have seen thus far, even the aces of staffs are vulnerable this year (face it, there is no Maronde, Ross in the state), and it will come down to depth and heart, not just talent. This isn't to say that teams in the past couple years have just relied on talent (see CAL's remarkable run last year), but I think we're in the midst of a year where any team can make a solid run to Applebee's and come from nowhere. The rankings are more of a crap shoot than I can remember them being in years past. It's a good time to be the sleeper!

And this relates to this thread in what manner???? Good win for Estill against a quality team. A lot of parity in high school baseball this year and anyone can beat anyone else based on pitching matchups.
