I don't have a problem with Pleasure Ridge Park being ranked 2nd. They've won nine games in a row, which may be tied with Lexington Christian for the longest active streak. In the last five games, they've beaten four Kentucky schools (North Bullitt, Perry County Central, Southern and Larue County) with a combined record of 44-22, along with the defending Wisconsin Division 1 state champions. Their only loss to Kentucky opponents is to the #9 team, so until they're beaten consistently they're going to stay in the top five, and deservingly so. As far as the #9 team Western Hills being ranked ahead of #10 Franklin County, only last weeks 13-0 game had been played when coaches voted on the polls. The poll is released every Thursday morning, so Wednesday night's games are not included. With that said, just because a team beats another team once does not mean they jump ahead of them. After Franklin County beat Western Hills, Franklin County moved up from 12th to 10th and Western Hills moved down from 7th to 9th. Both moves were justified. Early in the season Western Hills beat Pleasure Ridge Park and Tates Creek, yet stayed behind them in the polls. I think this, too, was justified. With all this said, if new polls were to come out, Franklin County should be and probably will be ahead of Western Hills. I do agree with you that Lexington Christian appears to be one of the best teams in the state, especially after their win over St. Xavier last night. If they can win against both Apollo and Covington Catholic today, I think it'll be pretty clear that they are THE best team in the state... at least at this point in the season.

South Laurel and North Laurel aren't in the same district?! That seems odd.

Interesting score. Was Franklin County resting their starters for their district game against Western Hills tomorrow? Wonder if Franklin County had a bad game, Owen had a great game, or a combination of both? Any details from a Franklin County fan? Impressive for Owen County to make is such a good game nonetheless.

This game will surely be closer than last weeks, but you still have to give the edge to Franklin County.

And that's why I said what I said. "Last year" can happen "this year". Did I think CAL wanted any part of Trinity and would beat them last year? No. Do I think CAL will beat Trinity this year? No. However, anything can happen. CAL is not a bad team, not a pushover by any means. I think you still have to come out and play well to win. Trinity is obviously the superior team, but don't be so quick to discount CAL.

Interesting how Lincoln County smoked Whitley County 8-1, yet North Laurel beat Lincoln County. It happens. Just because you beat a team, it doesn't mean you're going to beat a team who lost to the team you beat.

One could have probably said that last year in the regional semifinals, yet we all remember what happened.

Hopefully not too early. They will really have to play very good ball in about a month to get out of the mess that is the 43rd district.

Did Ballard run out of pitching by this game or are Dunbar's bats really starting to come around? This is an impressive margin of victory.

My prediction is that Raceland will win 5-3.

I seemed to be pretty spot on with my predictions. Paducah Tilghman lost to Lone Oak and Murray. Male lost to Eastern and Henry Clay. Covington Catholic lost to Boone County. Franklin County lost to Louisville Manual. Lexington Catholic lost to Estill County and West Jessamine. Western Hills lost to Franklin County. According to the scoreboard, we're down to two undefeated teams (Bell County and Bourbon County). However, someone who appears close to the program is stating Bell County lost two games in South Carolina, meaning Bourbon County will be the only overall undefeated team in the state of Kentucky.

Owen County can compete with the Williamstowns, Gallatin Counties and the like, but they just don't have the talent to be on the field with teams like Dunbar and Tates Creek. I'm not even sure why their coach would schedule games like this. I guess it's a good test to see where your team stands in the middle of the season, and it definitely showed where Owen County stands against top competition.

Boone County is a quality team, so the win does not surprise me. I was just bragging on Covington Catholic in another thread, stating they should be ranked even higher than the #11 ranking the coaches gave them. I'm not sure this loss will drop than much, but it's highly doubtful they'll be able to move up a whole lot either.

Not surprised by the win, but it is an impressive score, especially after the drubbing Franklin County put on Western Hills. It appeared Anderson County had been playing pretty good ball this year, minus the Spencer County loss earlier in the week. Regardless, congratulations to Western Hills for recovering from the Franklin County loss in a big way.

Probably by design. They knew they would get enough runs to win, so they probably wanted to get a lot of pitchers some work in during game situations.

I still think they are ranked too low. We'll see how legit they are next week at the LIT against Lexington Christian, Apollo and St. Xavier in two days. Do they have the pitching to be competitive in all three of these games?

Looks like Madison Central should be considered a serious threat in the 11th region.

Not sure. Just going by what I heard, which was that Franklin County hit a lot of ground balls through the infield... I guess they could have been hard ground balls. I also heard Western Hills' second basemen had a potential double play the third batter of the game, tagged the runner going to second and overthrew first base. Pretty impressive that Franklin County scored four or five runs with three batters. I heard that play seem to set the tone for the entire game. Since it sounds like you were at the game, would Riddle have made a difference had he pitched?

More confidence, sure. But from what I heard Franklin County only hit one or two balls hard all game. They just had ground balls go through the infield, and when they didn't get through the infield, Western Hills made an error or threw it away. Would Riddle on the mound make a difference? No doubt about it. However, when you commit six errors and score 0 runs you obviously have more important things to worry about.

From what I have heard it sounds like it didn't matter who pitched for Western Hills. When you commit six errors and score zero runs, pitching should not be your concern.

Franklin County beat Western Hills 13-0 tonight. Franklin County remains undefeated and Western Hills slips to one loss. Is it down to four teams now?
