Twelve hours after getting the call from Coach Combs, I'm still shocked Fort Knox won last night. Covering two of their games this season and being on post at least one day each week of the season, you could tell something was going to happen with this team. The attitude around the team never changed and the kids were always upbeat when I talked to them. Coach Combs is a great man and a great coach. He knew what he was getting into when he got the job, but he's stuck with it. He's got this program heading in a good direction, and that's something they've needed for a while. Can't wait to see how things are on post this week.

Just my opinion, but that's what the district games are for. I mean, you've got three teams at 4-2 right now, and only one of those has been shutout at least once this season. The district slate will tell us who is the class of this district.

Meade County had 13 penalties and Greenwood nine or 10. Game took for-e-ver, especially the third quarter. Neither team could hold on to the ball, and Meade County couldn't take advantage of Greenwood's fumbles when it needed to.

And Jeb, I know how frustrating the play-calling was tonight. But Ballard knew exactly where Mattingly was going to throw when Meade lined up for a pass, simply because he locked onto on receiver almost the entire game. He's lucky he didn't throw any interceptions against that defense.

Ho-ly cow. Just got in from the game, and Ballard impressed the heck outta me. Especially DeVante Parker and Dominique Dickerson. Meade County simply could not stop Parker, who torched the Green Wave secondary for 235 yards and 3 TDs on 10 catches. Dickerson threw for 342 yards and 4 TDs. The Bruins' ground game was almost non-existent, outside a 40-yard TD run by Mo Crawford, but Ballard didn't need to run the ball when they could pass all night long. I know Meade County is banged up, but Coach Mofield knows his team can't use that as an excuse. Hopefully the Green Wave can regroup and get healed up in time for Friday's district game at Greenwood.

The atmosphere at Meade, even without the cars sitting on the hill these days, is second to none IMO. Love covering games there when I get the chance, and I love the improvements they've done to the stadium. It's my favorite place to watch a game, bar none.
