Jim Schue Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 Cardinals snap a four-game losing streak and get a key road district win as well, knocking the Bruins from the ranks of the unbeatens. No details as of yet.
Hearsay Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 Huge, huge win. Should be considered an upset.
Jim Schue Posted October 10, 2009 Author Posted October 10, 2009 No I wouldn't say an upset. I don't see how. Central was 6-0 coming in, averaging about 40 points a game, and playing at home. Nelson came in reeling with a four-game losing streak. Sure meets all the qualifications.
JohnnyDrama Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 No I wouldn't say an upset. The No. 5 team in 6A gets beat at home, but it's not an upset?
Skins06 Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 If u look closely most of nelson counties playmakers have been injured for the past few weeks. Tonight was there first night being back on the field. Nelson is a much better team then what their record shows. Also Central hasn't played a tough schedule. Of course im not taking anything away from the bruins. There a great team. Wish both teams luck.
Jim Schue Posted October 10, 2009 Author Posted October 10, 2009 Quentin Brooks' return came at just the right time for NC. He rushed for 161 yards and a three TDs. Daniel Osborne picked off two of the three Beger INTs, and Derek Brunhammer got the other one, as well as recovering a CH fumble on a kickoff return. Brooks got his first TD (51 yards) with 2:50 to go in the first quarter, then added his second one (43 yards) just 23 seconds later after the ill-fated CH kickoff return. Cards were able to play with the lead the rest of the way.
Jim Schue Posted October 10, 2009 Author Posted October 10, 2009 Nelson Co. only attempted four passes all game after putting it up 39 times last week against Greenwood. Pretty good indication of the impact Brooks has on this team's offensive success.
Skins06 Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 Im definitely not counting nelson out the race just yet.
KJMLCG Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Central didn't even look like the same team as they have any of their other games this year. The offense could not get anything going other than the first drive of the game. Not taking anything away from Nelson defense but Central's biggest problem was themselves. Countless dropped passes and 4 turnovers are killer. If the rain played that big of a factor they better start practicing with the sprinklers on. Nelson's offense definitely got a boost from their returning players. Congrats to the Cardinals and good luck.

You can't take anything away from Nelson County's defense because they were getting pressure on the QB and caused some bad passes. They also did a good job of stopping the run.

dkm29 Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 When Nelson runs the ball effectively, they are hard to beat. Central Hardin can still win the district, but they need to find a way to run the ball especially if it rains anymore this season on Friday nights.
