  1. Chaz Gerding is a great kid and a very good athlete. He would have looked good in CCH blue.
  2. More good news for you... The kid that caught the game winning TD in overtime name is Logan Beagle. Beagle as in Barry Beagles son. Barry and his brother Steve are former Bluebirds. You guys better check up on the alumni retention department. Just sayin!
  3. You must think 150,000 dollars is cheap. Throw in another 40 grand for the press box. I know....Highlands spent more on their football scoreboard.
  4. Again.... it has nothing to do with "the folks in that area".
  5. I was told that when Wooten was built that Covington Catholic did not have lights put in due to the expense. The possibility of adding lights at a later date was discussed. The neighbors had concerns about lights. The deal was that if Covington Catholic wanted to add lights that they would need to apply for a permit and that at that time the neighbors would have their say. Until the last year or so Covington Catholic has NEVER filed a permit or talked with neighbors about lights. The bottom line is that Covington Catholic does not have lights because they chose not to pursue funding and a permit. The neighbors have not prevented Covington Catholic from having lights. The very first time Covington Catholic went though the process of getting permission to install lights was last year. And it was approved. BTW, I am a huge supporter of them getting lights. I hated playing home games on Saturday afternoon.
  6. I believe that the plan was to have 2 teams, each having 7th and 8th graders on them. The 2 teams would be split up as evenly as possible.
  7. CYF's 5th and 6th grade teams did not have a league to play in last year. The GCYL allowed them to play a full schedule with in their league as a trial for the future. CYF played all of their games in Ohio and were not eligible for the playoffs. The GCYL liked the way that CYF conducted themselves on and off of the field. They offered to bring them into the league this year at the 5th and 6th grade level but also wanted CYF to bring the 7th and 8th grade teams also. It was an all or nothing type situation. It also opens the door for the CYF to form 3rd and 4th grade teams in the future. That is how it was explained to me when I asked why they changed leagues.
  8. I agree. 170 lbs at the 7th and 8th grade level. That seems very low to me.
  9. Very happy to hear that he is going to be OK. A lot of ways to get hurt playing sports, but as a parent of a 13 year old that pitches, this is the one that concerns me the most. Good luck to your son and hope he has a full recovery.
  10. Any update on Slone? I remember reading that he was hit in the head by a line drive while pitching in Columbus last weekend.
  11. I do feel like Litzler improved as the season went on. The problem with having soccer players handle the kicking is they do not get reps in at football practice everyday. You need to kick with THE center and THE holder as much as possible. And also get live reps in with entire PAT/field goal team against a defense. It is hard to find the time to do this if your kicker is one of the football players....very hard to do this when you are using a soccer player that may or may not be able to be at football practice. This is not a knock on Litzler. His sport is soccer and that should be first on his priority list.
  12. I believe so. My son has played some ball with him and against him. Very good athlete and even nicer kid. His grandpa is at every game he plays. Super nice guy, I see where Brayden gets it.
  13. That is true. Both are 14u eligible but will play 16u for the Ky Colonels. That alone speaks volumes about the type of players they are and their potential. Since the Colonels do not get started until mid to late May, both have been playing on the 14u ATY team to get some work in.
  14. 8th grade weight limit is 170. That is not back weight...if you weigh 171, you do not play. That is the way it was explained to me.
  15. Yes, Jack is Dick Maile's grandson. Also Jack is Luke's brother.
  16. He played Colonel Youth Football as a 6th grader. Looked just like his dad running the football. Since going to Turkeyfoot for 7th and 8th grade he has not played. I have no idea if he plans on playing in High School.
  17. And last years Highlands vs CCH JV games x2.
  18. What are the weight limits for the GCYL?
  19. And a very nice kid! I wish all good athletes would conduct themselves like he does.
  20. Heard the same thing about WACG. Hope I get to see them play tomorrow. Just hope my sons team does not have to play them. LOL.
  21. Watching online it looked like the right call.
  22. I had always heard the refs were bad down there, but seeing is believing. Words cannot describe,
  23. I was there. We stayed after our game to watch your sons game.... we know a couple of your players. Your story is spot on about this ref. The other ref should make a complaint about his partner. The officials at KBA are VERY bad but this guy was way over the line.
  24. As I was driving home from the CCh/Bardstown game last night I saw a car load of students that had been to the game. At that moment I thought to myself, wow I hope that everyone travels safely as they go home from the Sweet 16. My daughter turns 16 on Sunday and my thoughts turned to teaching her how to drive and how scary it is going to be for my wife and I to send her out in a car. I cannot imagine what these families are going through. My prayers to them.
