With a Freshman and Sophomore thread active, I thought I'd start an 8th grade thread. Some are already starting to make a name for themselves playing for their Freshmen HS team. The following are a few names I think will have a strong impact on their teams for years to come. In no particular order;

 

Justin Schlarman - Cooper

Brendan Reid - Cooper

Logan Beagle - Ryle

Manny Henschen - Conner (JV)

Brayden Trattles - Simon Kenton

Jack Maille - Will go to CovCath

There's a kid last name Meyer who pitched frosh for Beechwood this year. I think he's an 8th grader. Throws well . Good size kid for his age.

Look out for Brayden Runion from Cooper as well. Great athlete with speed and a powerful bat as well. Fields and throws the ball extremely well from third base.

Cooper has a handful of 8th graders that should really have fine careers in High School. They have 3 really good pitchers, 2 that are pitching for JV now that their season is over. Cooper should be really good in 2 years. Their 8th graders that will be a big part of the program for years to come consist of Schlarman, Reid, Runion, Ollier could be a coup,e others I forgot but those 4 came to mind right away.

I was not aware that Runion was an 8th grader. Kid has great size, smashed the ball against us and has a live fastball. Very impressed with him. I would say Cooper had the best freshman pitchers at the freshman level that I saw all year. I think we saw 3 pitchers in our game that threw harder than anyone I've seen all year. So I would agree that Cooper will have a very nice team in the next couple years if they all stay healthy. :thumb:

Paul Wise of Montgomery Co. He has started 2nd base for Varsity several times this year. Has great speed and a good bat and should be the starting 2nd baseman.

Michael Schaefer -- St. Henry. He has led them to the finals of the freshman tournament.

They don't, however Mayer and Maille are currently 8th graders who will attend CovCath next year. They are really good players. I understand they both will be playing for the 16u Ky Colonels this summer.

That is true. Both are 14u eligible but will play 16u for the Ky Colonels. That alone speaks volumes about the type of players they are and their potential. Since the Colonels do not get started until mid to late May, both have been playing on the 14u ATY team to get some work in.
