I would have to think complete success. Huge frosh classes the last few years. Has to be related somewhat to MS football.

Middle school football is relatively new in NKY.

2008 was the first year for Cov Cath MS teams.

I'm not sure I can say what they've accomplished at the middle school level has moved the bar for them. Sure they dominated the NKMSAA, winning 4 out 6 championships while they were in the league. But from what I've seen, their numbers and talent seem to have dropped off over the time they were in the league. Their early teams had 80 or more kids with some absolute studs. Last year they were down to around 50 or so for the 7th/8th grade team (both teams combined). And they weren't close to the same level in talent. It always seems they pull a few kids who weren't in the middle school program though, once they move to the freshman level.

Don't get me wrong, their program was and probably still is pretty good. And the high school program is still one of the best around. I just don't think the middle school program has moved the bar for the high school program. This years Senior class is the second one that played in the middle school league, and soon you'll see senior classes that played several (or more) years in the program. At that point, we will really be able to judge how much impact the middle school program may have had. Although, again, we may never really know, simply because the do manage to pick up quite a few kids outside of the middle school program every year.

Any idea why that decision was made (and yes I realize the GCL is certainly a stronger league)? It just seems odd that they made this decision coming off what was probably their weakest middle school team in the 6 years they played in the NKMSAA. Last years team would have absolutely gotten hammered in the GCL.
