You can not blame Satt for making the jump. Lack of fan-base support; struggling to win enough just to get to bowls; complete turnover of admin and not being "their guy"; Never beating in-state rival. I think the first one - lack of support was obvious this year. Even after improvement - lots of empty seats. Had the fans responded to improvement as the season went on the environment would have been more positive. A win over Kentucky would have made a big impact on this topic. But it was more on the same - a poor performance start to finish against your rival. Finally, Satt knew that shadow of Brohm was not going away. He had to know this move was just a variable of time (channeling some Howard S there). Its hard to look forward when you keep having to look over your shoulder. Along with everything else, this issue had to take its toll. Brohm is the perfect move at the perfect time. The Brohm football legacy goes back to the Flaget days and is well embedded in Louisville. This is what grace in victory looks like. This reminded me when one of my son’s played his last game ever. A top QB from Highlands went up to him just like this. He knew his opponent, who chased him all night, had just played his last game. Memorable, and I got the picture. Let’s show more of these vids and less of the fists flying.

A few things come to mind on this important topic. 1. Is it a lack of ability to deal with disappointment or frustration at both individual level and team level. 2. Team or group altercations seem to be increasing. Lack of discipline by other when there is a smaller or 1 on 1 altercation. This seems at both college and high school level. 3. With newer, younger officials who may not be "seasoned" - are they not tapping down the emotions and issues before they flare up. Individual altercations in contact sports have been and will always be part of the landscape. When O-line and D-line bang on each other for two hours usually with the same person in the 1 on 1 match-ups, things are going to flare here and there. I mention the officials above because they can make a difference. Coming from hockey environment, I would watch officials and linesmen will put themselves directly between two players who may be about to square off. This was all levels and higher youth ages. Good hockey officials aggressively split up piles around covered pucks at the goal or watch for retaliation after a hard check. Its not the officials formal role to keep the powder keg from blowing up. But, they can help if they watch for it and sense it and see it building and work it each play. New officials definitely would not be good at this coming out of the gate. I do not want to seem to be blaming the officials. Its just a something that may be in the mix.

That second video definitely showed more serious action on the part of MSU. I had not seen that one.

I will reference these in my annual appeal on this topic. I will start with the basics. 7 team pods - call them regions, districts, whatever. Why 7? Two reason but will start with the playoff reason. With 7 teams the playoff seeding can be on that avoids the issues with "blowout weekend". Seeding: #1 Gets a bye week. Reward for winning pod. #6 vs #7. Usually the struggling teams. But instead of being sacrificial lambs the first weekend. They get a chance to get a victory and something build upon or end a short career with. The winner gets #1 in week 2. So the week 2 game may be running clock. #2 vs #5. Probably a competitive game in some cases. Some cases - maybe not. #3 vs. #4. Now you have a likely competitive game in week 1. Two mid-teams having to sort it out first week. Winner faces winner of winner of 2/5 game in week 2. #1 gets a very easy path to the pod-chamipionship game. But then would be in for a fight for 4 weeks. 4 weeks? Yes - six week playoff schedule. If you have to shave a regular season game out of the schedule since everyone does make post season. To do that - the math says go back to 4 classes (I know...). 4 classes, 8 pods/class, 7 teams/pod. This works for up to 224 (4 x 8 x 7) teams. At one time there was slightly less than this in Kentucky. I know 4 classes is a non-starter. But the 7 team bracketing has some interesting dynamics that could lead to more competitive games in the early weekends. Doing the 6/7 game gives programs something to build on and the chance at two weekends in the post season.

At best being a jerk. At worst, deliberately riling up fans before going into the tunnel and then antagonizing the MSU players - as it seems it some other videos. He had zero business being where he was.

Agree on all. Thought Red would win based on physical - and they did - but was pulling for Blue when Karla kept going going through the cut hand. She was in some pain.

It is true. The oddity is 2013. Boyle won the regular season game in Boyle County. But the Rebels were upset the game before the rematch by Mercer County. LexCath went on to defeat to Mercer for the Region Championship and lost to Highlands in the semi finals the next week.

Kentucky overcame their errors. Florida did not. The roof could have caved after the safety, or the miss PAT or the missed FG. But it did not. I was looking for Florida to come out after the pick-6 and get back the TD with a quick drive. They did not. Kentucky had the confidence to overcome things that would have sent them spiraling at times in the past. Florida did not and look more scared each series in the second half.

Referencing the bolded. The science on masks and pandemics was quite settled before 2020. It had been studied many times. As far as the CDC goes, its flip-flops and changing of definitions since early 2020 leave it with serious credibility issues. Even if you still believe it has the populaces best interest as their goal - It has a serious revolving door issue with medical and pharma industrial complexes.

The service that videos and photos provide goes way beyond the potential uptick or loss of dollars at the gate. There are so many people who want to be there and cannot for so, so many reasons. Everything from divorced parents who do not live in the same city; military families are on active service or called-up as part of the NG; ill family members who can not or should not be out in public; and other circumstances that keep people from attending. Getting to see their family member that they can not see otherwise is so valuable. As a photographer, I had a parent who was on deployment with the NG one season. He came up to me and said the following when he got back - "Every Saturday morning I would look for your pictures. (I would post up to 1,000 a included almost every play) It was what I looked forward to every week." If a school gets a chance to stream they need look to do it if all possible. They have no idea how many people that may benefit from it.

I would be a good idea for schools to look into sidelines management. Lots of potential liability issues there. I know you commented on requiring waivers early in this thread. The problem with waivers is that "negligence can not be waived". This is why suits are always focused on negligence. This is why liability insurance is so important for venues, coaches, etc. even if people sign waivers. As someone told me one time - "the waiver is only there to make you think for a few minutes before suing me." To get on the sidelines at Transylvania University I had to sign a form that was not only a waiver but also confirming that I had a very high liability insurance policy in place (which I do) to be able to do photography on the sidelines. That was in case I was held liable for causing an injury while on the sidelines. Interestingly, they did not ask if I had medical insurance for myself. The following scenario show why you really should have high liability insurance if you are on the sidelines. Lets say a referee trips over a person with no real reason to be on the sideline and is badly injured. If the referee or their insurance company decides to sue - who will they go after? It is likely one of the parties will be the person who was on the sidelines with no real business being there. Also, we did have to file a claim with the Catholic school system when my wife suffered a Jones fracture from a low manhole in a just-paved parking lot. They agreed to pay up to certain amount. But the medical bills did exceed the stated amount. They still covered the total when done without issue. So I think if he had just gone for medical bills through Trinity's insurance it may have covered the bills without the fan-fare.
