#1 convincingly beat #5.  Tell me again why there is a need for expanded playoffs.

Take the winner of the OSU-Michigan game and Georgia.  LSU as the winner of the SEC West is always invited.  If OSU-Michigan is close - take the loser.

The champion will always be from the top 6 in the poll.  Any more teams involved than that means there are practice games as part of the format.
