  1. I just heard thru the grapevine that Ashland Blazer's gym was flooded overnight do to an accidental overfiling of the pool. Can anyone confirm/refute this?
  2. It is found under the Policies & Procedures section under Other Board of Control Precedents and Policies, District Tournament Requests.....I am looking at the 06/07 Handbook and it is found on page 114. I cant immediately locate my 07/08 copy.
  3. I beg to differ with you on the bold part.......If you look at post #34, the comments in quotations were taken directly from the KHSAA handbook.
  4. I would suggest a quick trip to your local club fitter/maker first....Not much use in spending $250-$300 on something you cant hit......A good club fitter will help you narrow your choices to clubs best suited to your current swing....Who knows you may pick up a few free swing tips in the process. I saw a guy a couple years ago and went thru a driver fitting session....cost me $75 bucks and I ended up buying a driver that I never would have even looked without his input.....driver cost me $170 brand new on eBay. So for $245 I greatly improved my game off the tee......
  5. They have no choice but to give up their home court......It must be played at a larger venue. The KHSAA has a rule that says....."The schools by majority shall decide what playing facilities can hold the attendance of the last five years of the tournament based on the fan followings of the schools and other logistical needs such as accessibility, parking, etc." In the case of the 64th, the attendance numbers from the OJ years have inflated the numbers a bit. Fairview and Rose Hill cannot "hold the attendance of the last five years" so it must be moved to a larger arena.
  6. QUOTE=CatsCatsCats;2628486]Clemmons was a beast tonight. Ate the Comets up. West was down by 20 some before cutting the lead to 8 in the forth, but couldn't completely get back into the game. West was ice cold and careless with the ball in the first half, Bath took advantage. Clemmons is a top 3 player in the region IMO. Side note the officiating was horrible in this one...but wasn't the reason West lost.[/QUOTE] First let me say I have no idea who officiated this game but after looking at the box score in todays Independent, I assume one of them might have been Jim Hicks old college roommate.......Personal Fouls: BATH 19 WEST 23 (same disparity in foul calls in the Bath/Rose Hill game) Free Throws: BATH 25 of 35 WEST 15 of 24 (similar disparity in free throws from Bath/Rose Hill) Bath MAKES more free throws than West attempts.....If you remember when these stats went the other direction in favor of Baths opponent then it was inferred by Bath fans and coaches that somthing deceitful must be going on....The question was asked, "How can the foul shots be so lopsided?" Here we see the same thing.....My point is that just because the fouls and/or free throws are not even does not in any way indicate the consistency or quality of the officiating. You cant have it both ways....when you lose with such stats you blame the officials then when you win with such stats you want to take credit for the win.....cant be both ways.
  7. It probably depends on who Fairview would have to play in the 1st round....
  8. Isnt it funny how the roommate issue wasnt a problem when Bath beat Rose Hill earlier in the year.....
  9. What about the Barker kid from West Carter? He seems pretty undervalued across the region.......
  10. If you want to aid the recruitment of officals then 2 things must happen...... They must be paid better across the board They must be shown more respect and/or appreciation across the board from schools and fans. How many of you have made one of the following statement or one similar to an official? "I wouldnt do your job for any amount of money" or "I dont know why/how you guys do it, getting yelled at every night" Dont you think the young guys that are being recruited to join the ranks have the same comments? You will see numbers steadily decrease until schools take a stand on how fans are allowed to behave in their gyms, fields etc...
  11. I havent seen Rowan play........Is their roster mostly Sr's or do they have some young talent? I just wondered what the new coach was facing after this season.
  12. What does the seeding look like at this point Go?
  13. Bert was my first guess too.........
  14. I am standing and applauding this post!!!!!!!!! I agree almost 100%....The only thing I would add is that I personally think part of an officials evaluation should come from his fellow officials
  15. I honestly dont know why the refs in the 16th arent better...........every game I have seen they always have several "experts" at each game to point out their mistakes.......
  16. I never said I was quoting the rule book.....You wont find the phrase "shooting motion has ended" in the rule book.....This is where common sense by the official has to come into play. If you want to split hairs Ms Liberty then lets look at it this way........When I shoot a jump shot, my toes return to the ground before my heals do......All the while my arms are still extended over my head in follow thru......According to your interpretation, I could be fouled as soon as my toes touch the ground and you consider it to be after the shot. I think most good officials would consider this foul to have occured during the shooting motion and award free throws accordingly. Do you realize a player might be considered in the act of shooting even when his feet have yet to leave the groudn to begin a shot? I think if you research the rule book a bit you will find the phrase "normal shooting motion" or very similar words.
  17. This is basically the definition of an airborne shooter. He is still a shooter until he returns to the floor and his normal shooting motion has ended. If the foul occurs after his shot has completely ended then the penalty would be possession out of bounds or free throws if in the bonus.
  18. It is Brian Brohm. Trinity was playing in a Christmas tournament at the time.
  19. Some might say both.....I think his popularity is currently huge in KY but could become more popular in bigger cities very soon....for example ATLANTA maybe?
  20. I saw an official EJECT a player after the game was over! The official was on his way off the court and the player made contact with the official. In the officials opinion the contact was on purpose. I know the official reported the ejection to the KHSAA as required and I THINK the KHSAA upheld the ejection and the player was suspended for one game. This player is now a pretty famous athlete in KY......Does anybody know this story?
  21. I guess we can deduce from these statements that IF Billman says numbers are not going up then it must be right since he has been to the State Tourney and all.........????
  22. This talk of a personal vendetta against a player due to a family member is absolute trash. I think Sportsfan of KY would admit to having a pretty cordial relationship with most of the top tier officials in the 16th.
  23. As a frequent observer of 16th region basketball, I dont have the same disdain for officials as you. Granted, if I were coaching there are some I would prefer over others but you seem to cast a broad blanket over them all as being terrible. I just dont see it. Would you care to list some that you have seen and what your specific complaint with each?
  24. I think its Billman, Kouns and Coldiron........Just for you doc.
