The seed format of #2 vs. #5 with the winner playing #1 and then #3 vs. #4 playing (as mentioned in post #3) makes absolutely no sense to me. Why would it be set up like this? This seems to be an unfair advantage for both #1 and #2 as one of them would be eliminated before the finals which is exactly what seeding seeks to avoid. I would hope it would not be set up as such.

Bellevue played a very solid game. Lloyd did not. End of story. The coaches at Lloyd and Bellevue have a lot of respect for one another and now the season series is 1-1 with both teams dominating the games in which they won. They were each the better team on those days. Hopefully they get to meet again in the postseason and may the best team on that day win. Good luck to Bellevue in the finals of the All A and in the Doc Morris.

NCC did beat Lloyd, 2-0. They played 2 innings on Monday with NCC leading 2-0 before being delayed because of lightning then it got postponed to be resumed at a later date. That date was yesterday. NCC scored their first run in the 1st inning on a play where two errors were made on a stolen base attempt and the runner came all the way around to score. The second run scored in the 2nd inning came after NCC had a runner on second with 1 out. There was a wild pitch to advance the runner to 3rd then an RBI groundout to first to score the run before a popout got Lloyd out of the inning. The final 5 innings were played in under an hour yesterday. Connor and Dylan McGuire were both pitched well. Lloyd loaded the bases in the 3rd inning with 1 out and could not get the big hit to push a run or two across. It was a very intense and competitive game. In the end, NCC capitalized on some mistakes while Lloyd did not.

Do you think NCC will have to use Connor to get past Lloyd or would they potentially save him for Beechwood? Regardless of how the bottom part of the bracket turns out, it should be some quality baseball by some teams playing really well right now. Bellevue definitely holds an advantage through being able to save pitching on the top side. Any chance any of those teams is able to knock them off early?

He is a junior. I believe that the fact that he plays for Midland in the summer only helps him during high school. The Midland organization carries such a history and tradition with it that a majority of the exposure he gets will be through that. However, Coach Sanders also does a ton for him because he is a part of a great summer organization and knows what college coaches are looking for and how to speak with them. However, the fact that he plays summer baseball at Midland, I would think should allow him to play free and easy during the high school season without the pressure of having to get his name out there and get noticed. And being able to play baseball free and easy with no pressure, only helps results since we all know how hard it is to produce when you are constantly pressing.

Not only does he have an outstanding skill set which is evident just from watching him do things on the baseball field, but he also carries himself with class. I am always impressed to watch a young kid, who is hyped up by many people, just go about his business and play the game the right way. I was impressed with this when I watched Corey Farris last year, when I have seen Luke Maile and also in watching Hunter Jones. I can definitely see from a coaching perspective how top D1 college coaches would just drool over this kid. His talent level, his work ethic, his pedigree and his character would be something anyone would love to have. Best of luck!

Lloyd won the final game against Walton 3 to 1.

I think that the fact that the field was even ready to play today is pretty incredible due to the fact that a Home game was moved to Calvary yesterday. I heard that one of the assistant coaches spent his entire morning working on the field and that should be commended. Yes the outfield is choppy but as was stated before, football season really hurts the ability for them to have a nice playing surface all year round. But it is what it is and you have to do the best with what you have. As far as scoring, everyone sees things different and perhaps some of the balls in the outfield were ruled hits more so because of the playing surface than the actual misplaying of balls. I don't know because I didn't see the plays you mentioned. From what I did see, Cooper has a solid but young ball club. Coach Bieger always has his kids ready to play and they play the game the right way. Give him a few years to get some experienced players in that system and he will definitely have that program moving up! Best of luck!

It would be quite the task but perhaps shades of 2000 could lead St. Patrick to victory over the Royals.

While Luke is a very good player, I tend to agree with the assessment from above, but only in the respect that Farris is just as good. I think the easy way to rectify that is that if Maile is going to be player of the year (which I have no problem with because I think Luke is a phenomenal talent) then Farris should have been awarded the catcher award. I believe that by recognizing Luke as POY, we are already acknowledging the fact that he is the best of the best and can give another talented player his dues. Not to mention, they was a place for both on the all-state team.

Make no mistake about it, Coach Whitaker is one of the best in the business when it comes to doing what it takes to win a game. Should the game be close, he knows what it takes to help manufacture a run and always appears to have the right kids who can execute. He always gives his teams a chance to win and makes the right moves when the games are tight. I believe this game will be close, but perhaps experience wins out for the Knights this year with the young Breds learning a lot and making them very dangerous for next year and the year after. There is no higher seeds since the region doesn't seed and both are district winners. I believe it is based on the bracket, but I'm not sure whether or not the top team on the bracket (CovCath) or the bottom team on the bracket (NCC) would be the home team.

Walk Darner and pitch to Isler? Seems like pick your poison to me.

Also, quite interesting that both winning teams tonight made 5 errors but found a way to take advantage of their opportunities and push enough runs across to win. Let's hope Friday night's final is much less sloppy defensively.

Was Mark Reed in the lineup for the game on Monday? I don't recall seeing him or hearing his name. If he is back, while he may be a little rusty, that could be a big lift for Boone Co. even if just emotionally.

I agree with the above statement about throwing the bat at the ball. That could even distract the catcher enough that he might miss it if you don't make contact, but in that situation, you have to do WHATEVER it takes to get a bat on it!
