Ryan Seagraves and another starter (maybe Tyler Jackson) both sprained their ankles in the 1st half. Neither played the second half as both were on crutches on the sidelines. Don't know the severity of their injuries, but both seemed to be in quite a bit of pain. Britt for Lewis also took and elbow to the head and sit out the 2nd and 3rd quarter but played limited minutes in the 4th. I look for him to be able to play this weekend. East has a good ball team and Lewis had another poor night shooting the ball. Johnson played well for East as he probably had 10 points from the free throw line in the 4th quarter. Smith for Lewis had 22 and did a good job handling the ball.

I have talked to Billman while at some of the middle school games where he was evaluating the officials. On all of there papers, he put KEEP COACH IN BOX in bold letters. Im suprised he isnt keeping the coaches in the box as he encourages others to do.

Must say I am shocked by this one. Fairview must have a better team then expected. Rose Hill will need players other then Jackson and Euton to step up if their going to be considered some peoples favorite for the 16th (I still like Elliott).

Seems as if Greenups defense has the most room for improvement. I dont know if they played the run-and-gun style I heard they were working on but it doesnt appear to be working for them. Good luck to them the rest of the season but I cant imagine them being able to handle giving up this many points.

Haha. Never seen the guy play but heard he was a good ballplayer. Cody is gonna really be a good ball player in a couple of years not that he isnt a good ball player already. Can't wait to see if he keeps growing.

Knowledge of time, situation, opponent, other players on the floor with you, etc. The point guard should know the strenghts and weaknesses of teamates and opponents to help put them in the right situation at the right time. Needs to be an ASSISTANT COACH!

People talked about Greenup using the run-and-gun style and that apparently didnt work. My guess is we wont see many teams try to run with Elliott. There isnt a team in the 16th as athletic as Elliott. Cant wait to see them play some "good" competition.

Mason Co. on the 22nd of Feb. should be a good game.

I look for Elliott to have their way with Greenup just like they had their way with Morgan last night. Elliott by 30+ especially if Greenup tries to run with them.

Final. Scott shot 51% from field and forced 31 turnovers. Lewis seemed fatigued after last nights win for they allowed many fast break points.

Lewis Co. doesnt usually struggle on offense this much. They put up 52 shots which is actually low for them. They like to get up quick shots and crash the offensive boards. They shot a measly 17% from the field which will more then likely be the lowest this year. I look for their offense to come alive and try and create points off turnovers.

This game was boring to watch to say the least. I attended the JV and Varsity game and the JV game was more interesting. Lewis didnt score a field goal in the 2nd quarter and didnt score one in the 4th until 2 minutes to go. Coal Grove went off in the 4th quarter scoring 21 points and most of those came from the line (I dont consider 21 points a lot but heard radio broadcaster say it and found it funny). Lewis will bounce back playing two more times this week. Good luck to Coal Grove the rest of the season and to my boys from Lewis Co.

Theres a new boy who transferred here this year named Cody Riley. He had 22 points and rebounded the ball well. This was the first time I got to see him play and I was impressed. We will see how well he does against the JV tonight. Adam Pruitt had a good game even though he didnt score alot. He plays hard and plays good defens. And Justin McCann did a decent job running the point guard postition. He handled the pressure well and didnt turn the ball over as often as in the past. I think the freshman team will only get better with time together.

Rowan Co. beat Lewis Co. 49-44 last night. Actually, a pretty good game to watch for a freshman game.

It would have been a 75 yarder! Great game to watch.

Im sure there are many Elliott Co. fans that would debate this after there game last night. Sure, East Ridge isnt a Mason Co., but Elliott took care of business. I wouldnt crown the Royals as the 16th Region Champs yet but they have a good chance. We'll have to wait and see a couple games into the season who is the favorite. Can't wait for to watch some games, including both Royals.

Lewis Co. has a fairly weak 8th grade program except for maybe one kid. There 7th grade team is playing two sixth graders who have talent but are still young. Once the sixth graders from around the county combine, they should be pretty good. I watched some of there AAU games last spring and they were pretty solid. Look for the sixth grade to produce some good ball players, along with maybe one from the 8th grade.

He did visit with Rich Brooks and the rest of the U.K. staff at the game against LSU along with Jake Bolander, a junior defensive lineman for Lewis Co, and a number of other kids from around the state. I don't know how much talk actually went on, but Coach Combs, who was a weight training coach at U.K., took the boys to meet with him. And besides U.K., I don't think anybody has really contacted him that he is interested in. It would be great to see him get an opportunity to play but I'm not sure if he has collegiate speed and size. He can definitely catch the ball, though.

Great accomplishment. Sounds like a fun team to watch the way they pass the ball.

This is his senior year and only his 2nd year playing high school football so no chances for career just one heck of a season.

Very true, I dont know of anybody who cares for their kids more then Coach Combs and his staff. He gets the most effort out of what he has. Good luck next season to Coach Combs, the returning QB Andy Downing who probably didnt get as much credit as he deserves running that offense in its first year, and the rest of the staff and players at Lewis Co.
