You dont think Ferguson would be able to play major D-1 ball? He has been playing this well all season and really showed up tonight in a big-time game. Some were claiming Elliott had 5 D-1 players earlier in the season but it is now obvious they dont.

Billy G. made a quick trip back from LSU today. He probably liked what he saw from 3 players especially tonight. Obviously Darius, Russ Middleton, and Jonathan Ferguson (sp). I thought this was the best game I have seen Russ play all season, for he shot very well and didnt force anything tonight. I dont think Russ is UK ready (he is a good ball player, and I heard he had already verbally committed to Georgetown), but with some work over the summer, he could be a great ball player next season. And Mr. Ferguson had a very good ball game as well, being the only player who looked like he wasnt stunned when he walked on the floor. Elliott was just too undersized to compete for the full 32 minutes. Jonathan shot well from beyond the arc and it seemed the farther he stepped out, the more he made. He is a very good ball player and I have heard of a big D-1 (Mississippi St.) school looking at him. Good luck to all three and the rest of the players for the rest of the season and into tournament play.

I thought the girls might have played and didnt event think about the cheerleaders. There wasnt a band there either. I would hope more come out the rest of the season. If West plays that well (and the other team plays as poorly as Lewis did), they will create trouble throughout the district and region.

I assume Mason Co's bench got some good minutes? Did Mason get to rest most of the second half for tomorrow nights game?

And by the way, what else is their to do in Olive Hill on a Friday night? I could not believe the size of the crowd.

Lewis Co. came out flat and looked very uninthused. With districts approaching, they will need to do a better job getting off to a good start or the game will get away early. West Carter played much better ball, both offensively and defensively. They made most of their free-throws and boy did they shoot a bunch compared to Lewis Co. Im not sure of the exact numbers, and I may be incorrect, but it seemed they probably double Lewis Co. in free-throw attempts. Referees did not cost Lewis Co. they game (they definitely lost it themselves), but Randy and Sonny are poor officials. Im not just talking about some of their calls, but it seems they should keep focus on the game instead of talking to fans and high school kids during timeouts and breaks. JMO. If West shoots as well as they did tonight and create turnovers on defense, they could cause some havoc within the district and region.

Lewis Co. will have trouble matching up with West Carter's size but if they shoot the ball like they are capable of, they could come out with a win. Lewis Co. 67 West Carter 61

And concessions. I think there are probably 15-25 band members at Lewis Co. and just by selling a pop and candy bar that should make up for it. Losing revenue isn't a good excuse for not allowing them. And hopefully as I read in a earlier post, they will change their minds and allow them to play.

There are good people within Greenup Co., but what people are saying is the Greenup Co. administration seems selfish and they are the not-so-good people. The administration is to blame for this, and it appears they are very selfish in that matter.

Would it have been possible for the coaches, AD's, and all others who attended the district draw to speak up and overturn Greenup Co.'s decision? And if so, is it too late? It seems everyone in attendence could have spoken up and outruled the idiotic decision.

Final. Lewis Co. took the lead early and never really looked back. Coach Hampton gave everybody a chance to play and almost everyone scored. Good win tonight for Lewis Co., trying to build momentum for district tourney.

SHOCKED! Greenup Co. has been playing better but are they that much improved since a month or so or did Ashland have a truly terrible game?

Elliott Co. doesnt have the size to match up with Mason Co., but the 3-ball is the great equalizer. Not a lot of teams shoot the 3 as well as Elliott, and if they are hitting, this should be a great game. Otherwise, Mason Co. takes this one hands down. Either way, I'll take Mason in this one.

Was Downing back at 100%? I seen he scored, but how much did he get play?

It is about the kids, and the administration has taken some of the kids out of it. I think our band has 20-25 members and these kids arent getting to participate. Therefore, some of the kids are not being allowed to take place and have fun playing their insturments like they normally would.

Space is not an issue. Lewis Co. allowed all bands to attend last year and did not turn one person away at the door. The Greenhouse is much larger than Lewis Co's gym. That arguement has no basis.

Bands practice all year and get to compete very little. They probably consider districts and regionals their competition and Greenup Co. has taken that away from them.

This year, the Greenup Co. administrtion decided to not allow pep bands to play at the district tournament. What harm does a pep band do to not allow them to play? I have thought about this since finding out about it Wednesday, and can only come up with positives. Pep bands make the atmosphere, increase attendance, and create an even better competition. Last year, Lewis Co. allowed all teams to bring their bands, so what has caused Greenup Co. to not allow it? Next time, they might just film the game and make everybody watch the game in the cafeteria. IMO, this is a bad decision by Greenup Co. I dont know all of the circumstances, so maybe someone who is closer to the school can fill me in. Thanks.

What will it take for districts to realize seeding is the best way to go?

Yet again, a 3 or 4 team out of a district will make it to region. :mad:

Lewis Co. knocked down many shots in the second half to give them the victory. Both teams came out sluggish and struggled to score early. When Pettit catches the ball more 8-10 feet out, he struggled to score. He is most efficient from 5 feet and in but it appears him as well as the rest of the team shoot free-throws well. Frankie Witten for Lewis has 19 points and Britt with 17. The big (I would hardly consider them very big) men for Lewis Co. did a good job on the defensive end. They made it very difficult for the entry pass to Pettit and forced him to take difficult shots. Let's get a little momentum going into district tourney.

Thanks. Maybe a chance for Mason Co. to prove the region should stay in Mason Co. I know the crowd wont be as large as if it were the district finals but if they take a large enough crowd, next year the region might be moved back. (I know there have been threads about this, just thought I would bring it up) With that said, Mason Co. wins by 12.
