SO has a reputation for being a strong contender & in the preseason as possibly coming out on top in the 8th. Their 2nd loss of the season was the surprise. No offense to NB. I saw NB at a preseason scrimmage & was very impressed, especially with the guards. The 6th region teams may not be as familiar to some of us in other regions. How about revising the statement to "that's not a surprise to anyone that knows girls basketball in the 6th region"?? I know Iroquois is a powerhouse in the 6th & NBullitt has a big game with Fairdale coming up for them in the region. Good luck to NB! Well done against S Oldham.

Another surprise! Played at South Oldham. Anyone know about this one? South Oldham is 1-2 & has Highlands up next.

If folks did not know what DI meant before they saw this game, they do now. Walz at Louisville may polish up her interview skills a bit when she gets there next year. Fern Creek features U of L committed 6'1" senior Monique Reid who led the state last year in shooting percentage (28.9) & rebounding (16.2). A very athletic young lady who is a lot of fun to watch play. Perhaps Ms. Basketball this year?? Maybe! A candidate for sure!

Kind of funny! This comment is on the Girls Basketball forum, I guess girls basketball was interesting enough to read, at the very least, this forum.

Great news to hear about Wilhoit being back on the court. She is a lot of fun to watch play. SK is a force to be reckoned with...is it too soon to say that they will be #1 in the 8th? After the loss Shelby took from Dunbar last night, is SK the team to watch?

Congrats to Carroll County! Since information was scarce on WV in the pre-season, it was hard to predict an outcome on this one.

Anyone have information on what happened in this game? I know Tolliver scored her 1000th point in this one. I was hoping Williamstown showed inprovement over last year. I had heard that Wilhoit was out due to injury. Did she play last night?

Heard Cochran was ill & did not play. There might have been another player out, but Cochran for sure. Grant's point guard played but also had a stomach bug. Was ill before, at halftime & after the game. Tried to say it was nerves, but she was still ill this morning. Hope the rest of the 8th doesn't come down with this stuff!

Nope. She came up through the middle school & is a true freshman. Fast, very aggressive & plays hard. Does have a nose for the basket. Will be a player to keep an eye on in the future, but will come off the bench for now. As you say, it is hard for a freshman to make an impact, but as the season progresses, I think she will see quality minutes.

You may be right! A freshman center for Grant has been looking pretty good & is aggressive towards the hoop. She may get some minutes tonight. You are also right about the Owen center staying out of foul trouble. Hopefully Grant goes at her aggressively right away.

Grant County with the win 48-40. A couple of players have developed extremely well. If these players are consistent, game in, game out, Grant will be a tough opponent.

Grant/N. Bullitt/Henry played 2 Varsity qtrs against each other & 1 JV. For the Varsity, N. Bullitt vs Henry Co for 2 qtrs-N. Bullitt won by a fairly wide margin if I remember correctly. N. Bullitt vs Grant Co. for 2 qtrs-NB won 1st/16-11 & the 2nd/12-10. Grant vs Henry, 1st qtr GC 8 HC 6. 2nd qtr GC 7 HC 5.

Thanks! All I remember is that it wasn't the most high scoring game I ever saw. Could be why I don't know what the totals overall were, but I am thinking that it was probably a 10pt margin. There was quite a bit of experimentation going on for both sides. In fact, it was hard to tell what either team is going to be like when regular season comes around. My kid said that she was trying to run plays & sets all the way through & not necessarily taking opportunities, just working on rotations, etc. I don't know if that is good or bad, but it is a scrimmage, which is the time to run sets all the way through to see where breakdowns are, etc, etc.
