Gotta clarify..didn't quite get this said the way I meant it! I am talking about the parents who yell it every single game. It is always at the point guard. Some coaches do require the PG to make decisions about WHO they are passing to in a given situation. The PG doesn't make the pass, you hear "pass the ball"...they make the pass, player doesn't finish & you hear "terrible pass". Are these the same people you hear calling PG's "ball hogs"!

Drives me nuts when I hear people yelling at a point guard to "pass the ball" or "terrible pass" over & over in a game. I have heard this yelled at many point guards...usually when the player they are there watching is on the receiving end! Usually means that when they yell "pass the ball" they think their "player" is open...who is. But I know, the point guard, the coach and everyone else in the gym knows cannot finish. Everyone knows but the person yelling at the point guard to pass the ball! Yep and the same people are the ones that yell "terrible pass." Someday I am going to break & yell "catch the ball"!

Funny! First thing I though of when I saw this shoe comment was some shoes I saw the coach from Walton wore. Gotta love the shoes!

Grant had trouble adjusting to the change in pace at point. They don't threaten in transition as they could with Gorby. Her speed & quickness is also missed on the defensive end more than expected. Grant County has settled into the new pace of the game & some new roles for players since her injury & may be able to pull off a few more victories down the stretch! Johnson has done a nice job but she is much, much better as a shooting guard. She just doesn't get to fire off the 3pt shot as much as she (or Coach Guffey! )would like anymore! Candace is doing extremely well since surgery 2 weeks ago. She is working on returning for soccer this fall. She has had a very rough time sitting on the sidelines, especially during the loss at Williamstown.

Grant County also lost a player to an ACL injury. The team is still reeling...I feel for N Oldham!

This one should be fun! Williamstown plays hard but may be a bit down because of the district draw & getting Simon Kenton first up...going with Carroll on this one! by 6.

It is Senior night at Grant County. 3 Seniors start, should be fun. A bit thanks will go out tonight to Selena McIntosh, Sarah Johnson & Bethany Hopperton. Great job girls! They also won the flip & found out yesterday they will be playing Walton in the districts. Gave the squad a much needed boost after the long battle with illness & various injuries. I look for a Grant County win tonight!

Agreed! West struggled in this game. She threw herself into the defense a few times & was forcing passes. She was ill for a few moments as well. Not herself this game.

Going along these lines with this quote (and extending out of the immediate No KY area a bit): Gray-Shelby Co., Girdy-Carroll County, Jones-S. Oldham, Gorby-Grant Co. Stats aside, their presence alone changes the dynamic of their respective teams. Impact players, some on defense, some on offense, sometimes both, but they are each the key to the effectiveness of their respective teams. Great players listed here! I have seen all of them play. Tolliver & Long are my personal favorites.

Final. I understand there were a number of free throws attempts in this game...around 60?? Any details from someone at this game?

Workman played. My understanding is she was the player involved (I am sure it was not intentional) in the play that resulted with the injury to Osborne.

WV still has 1 more district game vs Williamstown. If WV wins, I believe it will force a draw between Williamstown & Grant County for the 3rd seed. If they lose, their first district game would be against Williamstown. Regardless, they have the 2nd seed, which means they have to play either Williamstown or Grant before they would face the winner of the 1st seed vs 4th seed game (which will be Simon Kenton I think all will agree). Williamstown always plays hard & Grant County only lost to Walton by 3 recently. Be careful looking past either team to take on Simon Kenton for the district title. Remember, you don't go to region unless you win the first round game. Grant County & Williamstown want to go just as badly as the WV gals do! Simon Kenton's streak of district wins continues.

Highlands has been on a bit of a roller coaster the last week. #1 rating, a key player out (maybe more than 1?) & the close game with Bellevue all weigh on the team. Scott has a big inside presence & Highlands match-up player is out. I think Scott may be able to pull this one off. I think Scott will win the rebound battle at minimum. I also hear Scott has a key player that may be back in action for this game. Good luck to both teams tonight!

Glad to hear that the gals at Carroll are OK & back on the court. Girdy is always a lot of fun to watch! Would have enjoyed a Gorby/Girdy match-up, but Gorby will not be in attendance due to her ACL surgery tomorrow, game day. Grant has struggled with consistency, illness & injury. If they play like they did at Scott earlier this week, Carroll will win. Coach Guffey will do everything he can in practice & game day to prevent the moral of the team from going any lower. They had a good practice yesterday...Grant will hopefully come to play!

Grant's woes continue with the problems adjusting to changes in the line-up (the loss of starting PG Gorby with an ACL injury & illness recovery in 2 other starters, Hopperton & Morgan). Grant was sluggish, did not rebound or box out well & played with their frustration apparent. Fouls were in abundance. Not a good night. Nice job Scott. Tibbs & Benzinger looked good!
