Not so fast! If Moreno doesn't play I would say they would be an underdog against Trinity since they only beat them by two and Johnson wasn't playing.

They barely beat Trinity who didn’t have David Johnson Not sure I count that as a guaranteed win if they meet again

Ray obviously developed into a great player but IMO Johnson is ahead with his skill level at this point in their careers

Not the same team without Johnson. Unlike last year with Scrubb and Powell, no one else on team can get their own shot like Johnson can

Had a kid go to Stanford and play a minor sport for a few years (walk-on) Herron just made the best decision of his life!! Stanford is the BEST college in the country, for the all around college experience, and its not even close! And their football program isn't too shabby either.

Never been a weightlifter but I can't beleive Brohm would be happy with the kid lifting huge amounts of weight. Sure seems he could hurt his back, knee etc. doing that!

Agree. He needs to be the go to guy and the other guys need to contribute and they can be top tier of the 7th. Agree they won't be the clear cut top team as they were the past few years

Wasn’t even allowed to play at T as a sophomore so he could get his grades up If he wouldn’t or couldn’t meet the academic standard to qualify to play with all the resources available at Trinity to help him then he was never going to qualify academically at any school IMO Sometimes it is what it is

Exactly what I am referring to. Coaches, even in smaller sports, can usually get a few kids through admissions if they want them on team They need to have standardized test scores in top 10% which is still excellent but don't need to be perfect like the regular kids trying to get in. And, by the way, If you get admiitted to most of the Ivy's or Stanford today and your parents make under $100,000 a year- free tuition for any kid. So it basically is like offering a full ride since they do it for non athletes also

This may only apply to a small subset, but sports can also open doors to elite schools that kids just can't get into on grades alone. I heard of two kids this year, attending what would be considered top high schools in KY, one scoring 35 on ACT and being #1 in class and played on a competitve sports team and the other scored 36 on their ACT and had several impressive extracurriclar activites on resume and neither were admitted to several top 20 schools to which they applied. I had three kids go to top 20 nationally ranked academic schools-because the coach got them in to play sports. No scholarships- but a heck of an educational opportunity! Just giving another perspective on how sports and travel teams can be helpful!

You are missing the fact that the greatest female athletes do not have the strength or speed of a man. Prepuberty- girls may be stronger or faster- after puberty no way. To use another sport for perspective, Katie Ledecky, who is the greatest woman swimmer ever, would not even have won the KY high school boys meet this year!

Weining did not want to transfer. He was told he would get minimal playing time as a junior and decided to go elsewhere. He became an all region player at Desales. That is very questionable talent evaluation by the coaching staff with a kid that had no desire to go elsewhere- if given a fair chance!! Besides the "big three" on Trinity's team- no one else was even close to the player he is and Trinity could have certainly used his scoring ability in the Scott Co loss.

Weining left because coaching staff didn't think he could help them and he was told he was not going to get any playing time as a junior. He would clearly have been the 4th best player on the team this year! If he plays this year and gives Trinity a viable 4th offensive threat, which he most certainly would have, I think they roll to the title. Don't know about Moore situation and whether he even wanted to play

SC absolutely did what they had to do and won the game. My point is Trinity was leading most of the game and had chances in the last minute to put it away and didn't convert. Does that mean Scott Co was better- I'm not sure i can agree to that but I can congratulate them on doing what they had to do to win!

I agree the game was a toss up going in but Trinity controlled the game most of the time and made some mistakes at the end and Scott Co took advantage. Kudos to them but to not admit Trinity should have won this game is a bit misguided IMO

I agree with Sinbad As I stated earlier in this thread, Trinity wins in football when they have the best talent- and sometimes when they don't In basketball, as I stated earlier in the thread, they have had the best talent in the region/state several times and have been upset. I agree Szabo has been able to upgrade the talent but sometimes you have to question coaching when you repeatedly lose games you should win??
