  1. the 8th region class A is wide open...a month ago i would have said Gallatin was the clear favorite, but that's not the case now...there still the favorite, but Walton,Trimble, and Carroll all have played well within the last few weeks...should be a competitive tournament...is Owen and Henry getting back in the mix next year?????
  2. wow Gallatin beats Conner and pretty much handled them the whole game and then loses to Ryle by 15...thats why i love highschool basketball....good win for Conner...
  3. I'm sure all the cat fans remember last year's Class A State when the 9th region official in the Gallatin v. Brossart game pretty much took over the game and made sure everybody knew he was there....he made quite a few bizzarre calls....gotta love those 9th region officials....
  4. Cats by 8...Take care of buisness at the free throw line and it could be much worse..... Hopefully the cats will get ahead big early in the game and Coach Jones is able to rest some of his starters for Sat. night game at Ryle...hate to look ahead, but Ryle is a battletested team and this game will be a good test for the cats to let them know where they stand as a team....no disrespect to the panthers, but the cats have great senior leadership in Jones and Brown and I think there just to much to handle for the panthers....
  5. Mediocrity Madman...I don't approve of technical fouls either, but hey Coach Bennett is nice, that's got to count for something....yes mediocrity
  6. In the 7 wins that WV has this season, they've come against less than stellar teams. Henry- 4-11 Grant- 5-9 Trimble-5-8 WTown-1-11 Harlan- 2-12 Southwestern- 2-9 Grant- 5-9 24-69!!!!!!! Looks like another season of "mediocrity" for Coach Bennett and the Bearcats. I'm sure all you WV faithful's are ok with that though..... I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say the Bearcats finish the season at 14-15.....
  7. Sorry you are correct...he coaches both teams....matter of fact I think he coaches about 4 or 5 teams....
  8. Madman, WV plays a 4-8 Trimble Co. team tomm. night and it will be disappointing if WV doesn't win by at least 15+. I interested to see what type of strategy Coach Bennett uses against the raiders.
  9. Madman, My numbers are solid. All this info was gathered through this website. I'm not going to argue wether or not there 100% accurate and I'm sorry I didn't list the seasons in order with both the start and ending year. Apparently you have some kind of compulsive disorder with accuracy, but I won't hold that against you. Your correct when you say Coach Bennett surrounded himself with quality coaches in Ballinger and Sullivan both outstanding coaches and Sullivan pretty much got run out of a job as the assistant because he was an administrator, but don't feed me some bull about Walton-Verona focusing primarily on academics, yes I know certain individuals focus more so on academics, but I attended an AAU session this weekend at Grant Co. and I saw WV 3rd grade coach get a technical foul 3 minutes into the game and his assistant get one at the end of the half. I left and came back 2 hours later to see the WV 2nd grade coach screaming at the other coach over a disagreement on a call made by the official. I know both the 2nd and 3rd grade coach extremely well and consider both to be outstanding competitors. Madman my point is simply that I see the competitive fire in these AAU coaches, but I've watched many of WV Varsity games the past few years and I can't say that I see Coach Bennett ever having that same fire. From what I see he worries to much about the calls he's not getting and he's way to nice to his player's. If my Varsity squad didn't play any harder than these boys have played this year I can guarantee you that my underclassmen would get plenty of playing time. Like I said in my last post, how long will the WV faithful stand for mediocrity. Madman sorry for any spelling errors, sentence fragments, or innaccurate data......
  10. I don't know if I'd call Kyle Bennett an excellent coach Mr. Athletics? I think Kyle is a great person with a huge heart, but I'm not sure he has what it takes to get it done. I remember when Walton was once considered a threat in northern kentucky basketball. They had some great teams in the 80's and 90's, but they've only had one great year under coach Bennett, and don't take this wrong I know you have to have the talent to be succesful and WV fights the same battle all small schools battle with lack of talent. Coach Bennett's Career at WV 1998- 6-13 and wins came against teams with combined record of 48-78 1999- 11-13 " " " 49-136(1 team had wiining record) 2000- 9-19 67-115(3 teams had winning record) 2001- 7-21 70-112(no team had winning record) 2002- 12-17 105-137(4 teams had winning record) 2003- 22-6 114-213(3 teams had winning records) Final 4 Class A State 2004- 17-11 122-178(4 teams had winning records) 2005- 8-15 52-107(no team had winning record) 2006- 15-12 71-151(no team had winning record) 2007- 7-7 25-65(Owen only team to this point with winning record) Career 114-134 I know Walton has a great AAU program with a lot of talent coming up in grades 2-6, and there is some solid player's in the freshman class, and the cottrell boy in the 8th grade has potential to do some great thing if he keeps developing. I guess my question is how long does Bennett get to stick around if he doesn't win with those kid's coming up. I know the WV faithful and they won't stand for mediocrity.
  11. i saw Anderson play last year and they were quick and physical, and to my knowledge didn't lose a whole lot...since they won at Shelby does this make them the front runner for the 8th or do most of you still think Gary Forrest is too much to handle????
  12. i think 15+ may be too much...i do agree that GC is the better team, but this is a district game at Henry...GC by 8...how is Scott Brown doing???
  13. Two words Gary Forrest! Great job OC. Good luck in Rupp.
  14. Great team effort. Awesome job by Jared Carlton. This kid played like a warrior Thursday night. I don't know how many rebounds Jared had, but it seemed like every time the ball came off the rim there was Jared and he's only a sophmore. I'm not taking anything away from the efforts of the other kids it was a well balanced attack by the cats. Trent Maddox had a huge game with his intensity, Edmonson and Perkins showed Senior leadership with smart play, Scott Brown "Mr. Cool" was his always composed self on the court and David Henson was a huge presence around the basket. Good luck against SK. Remember at this point of the season everyone knows you have talent to have advanced this far in the tournament, but it's not about talent it's about HEART. Good luck cats!
  15. HENRY CO OLDHAM CO SIMON KENTON GALLATIN CO OLDHAM CO GALLATIN CO GALLATIN CO EDMONSON GO CATS!
  16. Sure there are you just find a way to make it work. Split the sessions, tape off a certain amount of seats for each school, whatever it takes there's only 7 games in the whole tournament. Wednesday 2 games, Thursday 2 games, Friday 2 games, Saturday championship. It's not that complicated Mack. Gallatin, Carroll, Oldham, South Oldham, Shelby, Grant, just to name a few could facilitate this tournament.
  17. I find it hard to believe that there are 15 players better than Nate Edmonson in the eighth region. Every Gallatin game I went to this year I saw Nate Edmonson makes moves to the basket and hit shots that most of the kids on this list could not make and Daniel Neely is without question the best player in the eighth region. Congrats to all the players who made it....
  18. It all depends on what team shows up for Gallatin. If they bring there 'A' game there is no question there 10-15 points better than Henry. It sure would be nice if the regional tournament wasn't held at Henry every year. They need to clean that place up, paint it white, brighten up the lights, replace the 1960's scoreboard, re-finish that court, and how about some locker rooms and restrooms inside the 21st century. What a dump!
  19. Who is it and who's the 8th Region player of the year?
  20. Cody Perkins Gallatin County. This Kid is a joy to watch. He doesn't get near the attention that Edmonson gets, but in my book he makes this team click. I wish he had another year of eligibility. He's only 17.....
  21. Wow didn't know that. Tough break for the 8th...
  22. The 8th Region tourney should be a dandy. With Scott County out of the 8th it's wide open. Simon Kenton is the obvious favorite, but watch out for Oldham,Shelby,Gallatin,South Oldham. Any of these teams could win the 8th.
