Gallatin is playing the best right now. Walton is probably the only team that can challenge them. Walton will have to shoot the ball well and try to keep them off the glass. Contain MAddox to 8 or less points and you may have a shot.

:thumb:I would agree and hope to see my friends from Gallatin Cty in Richmond this year.

Gallatin is the front runner in the 8th, by far, but Walton I would believe is second. Walton lost to Gallatin, by very few, with Ponzer fouling out early in OT. I believe that Walton could, knock them off. I honestly wouldn't beat against Walton. They have been playing good ball, and Jones is starting to really find his shot. If Kirk add's his 15 points, and Ponzer taking care of the ball, I wouldn't think twice to see them going down to Richmond.

I would have to go with Gallatin Co. They have a very good, hard playing team. Next would be Walton Verona, but they don't have the physical players to beat Gallatin Co.

Good luck to all the teams, may the best make it to Richmond!

The 8th Region is not as strong from top to bottom this year with the loss of Owen County and several teams lost several seniors.

Gallatin Co. and Walton-Verona are the only two teams that are as good or better than they were last year.

They are both very well coached teams and have played schedules that will have them ready to play. I think Coach Jones is having an easier time coaching this years team because it is not quite as deep.

Gallatin Co. has played a stronger schedule and has won more games playing that schedule and I pick them to win the eighth with Carroll coming in second.

I like the chances of Gallatin County getting to Richmond for a 3rd straight year. Walton will need to shoot lights out and bring their best game to beat them at all this year. IMO the best chance they had was spent when they played on WV's home floor earlier in the year.

In the class a tournament, anything can happen. There is added pressure on the home team (Gallatin) to win it. They have to be a heavy favorite but as I said before ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN. Good luck to all teams.

I hope whomever makes to Richmond goes all the way.:ylsuper:

The discussion in this tournament certainly starts with Gallatin. I think they are the fairly clear favorites again this year.

I guess Walton has a fighter's chance, but they'll have to land a lot of haymakers (i.e. three point shots), to stay close. And, even with that, if the game is close, I'd take Gallatin's bench to win the game.

Gallatin should win easily. The other bracket is very weak. Williamstown should come out with wins over Carroll and Eminence. Don't think Carroll can come in 2nd.

Past 8th Region Winners:

1990 - Williamstown

1991 - Trimble County

1992 - Henry County

1993 - Gallatin County

1994 - Williamstown

1995 - Henry County

1996 - Owen County

1997 - Carroll County

1998 - Carroll County

1999 - Gallatin County

2000 - Carroll County

2001 - Trimble County

2002 - Spencer County

2003 - Owen County

2004 - Walton-Verona

2005 - Carroll County

2006 - Gallatin County

2007 - Gallatin County

Looking forward to the tournament starting. Gallatin County has a great atmosphere for basketball, and I anticipate the games to be very competitive due to the fact that it's tournament time.

I think it will be Carroll and Gallatin in the finals. ;)

It will be tough to beat Gallatin Co. on their home floor. Walton Verona may have an outside chance for an upset but they will have to play a perfect game.

Don't count the Bearcats out. They have an excellent coach in Kyle Bennett and the pressure to win will be on Gallatin. The Bearcats are good enough to pull the upset. I really don't see it happening unless some stange things happen in the game however.
