Come on what??? The kid can play and so can Vanhoose and McDavid and Ferguson, and the Faulkners, and so on and so on. Somebody had to win. The kid is deserving of this award dont take it away from him.

Its all paper anyway. A record book is paper, money is paper, and the only thing that matters is the 12 that won the class A, the 12 that won the class AA, and so on. When I played I never looked at the bigger classes and thought that they were better than us and smaller vice versa. We were champions and that is all that mattered.

I guess the other 49 states got it all wrong then. Oh and they probably are not benefiting financially from doing it their way either.

Where can I go to listen to the games?

KY people fail to realize one thing. In the big, national picture. KY in general, as a whole is looked at as a rural, country, hick state. Just the way it is.

I wonder how quickly schools will move to fill their prospective vacancies. I would assume after spring break and after the boy's state tournament.

Come on Golden Eagle fan. Do you really think that this is the greatest show in high school sports. What if the state football tournament in Texas is a bigger show, or the hockey tournament in Maine? I can promise you that KY high school sweet 16 is not the greatest show on earth. In fact people will go to any state tournament because it is the state tournament and want to see their respective school win, it is held at rupp, and that is someones chance to go to rupp, or for any other various reasons. And you were right about one point. Talent does migrate right from the small schools to the big ones. Here is a point. I would venture to say that before the ball is ever tipped off today that a big school will walk to saturday morning and a small school will too simply because they are matched up that way this year by luck of the draw. It should make for interesting 1 and 2nd round games but this David will get killed by Goliath on Sat morning or night. However it falls.

Defenz. That is not a crazy idea. That is how we did it in my home state and then the top four teams played at the championship site. That way you can take four teams from the east say at Bowling green and four teams in Lville, and so on and so on. So it was like the Final Four at Rupp. But, we were classified so we had 16 teams at say Rupp (four from each class). Now that I think about it, the state had to make a ton more in revenue doinng it that way. Call me crazy.

Should be a pretty tough region. I feel like there are a lot of teams that are really young especially the soph. class around the region. I wont go into ranking, that is not really my thing, but I am excited about the girls teams coming up though.

I hear that there may be a drop or two as well. Some coaches just dont feel like they need the test of talent that early in the season I think.

Hey hawgball, thanks for clarifying how the selection process works, I guess I have only chosen all tournament teams a few times in my life! The debate might be; how should the sweet sixteen all tournament team be selected. There is enough qualified people in attendance to select that group of girls.

Good list of players. When you put them on a list right there, you can really see that eastern Ky. has some real talent. Congrats men.

This may sound typical but I do not believe that the two best players in the state played on Saturday at diddle.

I can't say that Prewitt should have been selected over lee. Both of those girls can really play the game of basketball. I do however feel that Maggie got the snub about like Syracuse got the snub in the NCAA tourney. And for those of you who dont follow college basketball that closely. That means she got snubbed in a huge way. She IMO was a completely different player at diddle this year than I have ever seen her. It was almost like she was playing for something other than the other players on her team were playing for. Maybe it was respect? I dont know but I do feel like she was better than 3 kids on that list but all players up there are good girls.

I feel like the coach, Butcher if I am not mistaken, would have put a jersey on if he could have. You could tell he was out there with his girl's every chance he had. I was completely impressed with Pike central. To me they were the team to look over your shoulder for. They had two really good post players with a lot of range and mobility. Scary for defensive match ups. I hope that they can repeat and get another trip next year. I realistically think that this team will be the #5 team preseason to start next year. Good luck Hawks.

Moving on is a great thing. Not always a great thing for the program they are leaving because I feel like asst. coaches are vital to a team's success, but great in the sense that it is a new begining for a new head coach. Good luck to all that are leaving.

Besides, filling coach high's shoes will be plenty enough work for the administration to tackle much less having to fill two vacancies.

20 of 21 to the regional tournament? Wow, that is pretty impressive. I would just like to visit the regional tournament once as a coach, much less 21!!!! In all seriousness however, I hope that next week is not pre-mature. I hope that he can get out of the gym under some good sunlight and get around a different group of kids and enjoy some time before making a decision.

How about the girls last 7 state champions being from a private school?? I would venture to say that the girls side is more lopsided on the public/private side and the boys is completely lopsided on the public/urban (as some other bgp poster already pointed out). great talent is hard to come by and even tougher when lured to the big schools for better jobs for parents and more talent around them, Scott Co. That is a prime example of a large market for job (ie Toyota) and a large school, large resource base, and ultimately a large talent pool. Where are they? Rupp, imagine that. Imagine that the smallest school in the 11th region did not make it to the tournament? hmmm??
