Trinity 2006 vs Trinity 2005, 2003, 2002.
We lost in 2000 to Highland 41-9 at the Rock. That was the best team I've ever seen in person. They were like #16 in the nation or something. I've never seen a team that good. I couldn't imagine playing the #4 ranked team.

Uh huh. Thanks for clearing that up. I was almost right. I just got a little confused. :thumb:

That's what I initially thought. Didn't that team start off bad? Like lossing the first 3 or 4 that year? I know that they finished strong, regardless how they started. I would say that's the best team. I doubt that final can ever be duplicated.

Trinity 2006 vs Trinity 2005, 2003, 2002.
Which team was it that was ranked #4 in the nation according to USA Today? I was thinking it was 2002, but the more I thought, it might have been 2001. I don't remember.

Rockcastle County 2007?
Is this true? I don't know exactly how the playoffs will work next year. There will still be 5 total rounds right? If so, wouldn't district 7 play district 8 in the 3rd round, like this year? Or are they changing that format too?

Asterisk for Mercer?
Gees...I can't believe what I'm seeing. I've never seen a team cry so much. I would've thought a defending state champ would handle themselves better than this. I know that not all Russell fans are crying, but some are, and it's ridiculous and actually kind of insulting. Not insulting to me because I've NEVER seen either of these teams play. So it means nothing to me personally. But to wait until after your team losses to start complaining is crazy. I have a two month old son that doesn't cry this much. I'll get some of his pacifiers and give to the Russell fans that need them. You all should get over it. I don't know anything about the game, other than the score was just a few points difference. I would imagine there are some plays in the game that if you had executed better, you would've won. Then you wouldn't have anything to complain about. But you didn't. So now it appears as though you're sore losers and looking for any excuse you can find. Like I said, I realize that not all Russel fans are crying. But the ones that are, are killing me. An asterisk next to Mercer??? Are you serious? It's not easy to take two football teams and put them together and get team chemistry like this in such a short time. Why do you think the All Star games suck, and the USA sucks in international basketball? Too many players and not enough stats to go around. I applaud Mercer's coaching staff for being able to pull it together. I was impressed by the numbers they put up this year. I'm glad Rockcastle didn't play them. The problem you have is that they combined the two schools? So if there had never been two schools, only Mercer Co, they would've had the same number of students/players and that would be ok? It seems that's the problem. That they combined the two and now the enrollment is uneven. I just don't see it. It looks to me like some sore losers from Russel.

That's actually what I thought about the 2000 Highlands team that came to the Rock. I looked at them and didn't think much about it because most of their players were smaller than our's. But 41-9 later, I knew different. It's like they were covered in vasoline. We couldn't tackle them.

The Kirk Herbstreit Challenge
They acutally went undefeated from like '93 to '04 or someting like that. They had won well over 100 straight games. I'm not sure of the exact number without looking it up. But they've been "National Champs" like 5 or 6 times or something. I just expected more.

Oh. I wasn't sure who played who. I just knew De La Salle and Lakeland was there. To change the subject briefly, have you ever seen anything on De La Salle? I was not impressed with the school and stuff at all. Earlier this year, they played Mission Viejo(sp?) who was ranked #4 in the nation at the time. There was only an estimated 7,000 people there. Do you find that strange? I mean, #1 and #4 in the nation and they can only get 7,000? A weak attendance at the 4A game tonight had 10,000. And the stadium, I believe it was at Mission Viejo, had mostly standing room and a very small set of bleachers. I would venture to say that Rockcastle has as many seats as they had. I was just expecting more from California football powerhouses.

Yeah, earlier this year in this event, I want to say that De La Salle in California played Lakeland, Florida or something. There was also a highly ranked national team from Arkansas I think, played somebody. Sounds like some great football regardless.

2007 Class and District Alignments
 We did play each other in '99 and '00. The state finals were '01 and '02. Not sure if that's what you meant or not.

Rockcastle County 2007?
Hmmm.....could've sworn it was grass. My bad TL.

2007 Class and District Alignments
I hadn't looked closely at it before. I was hoping LexCath had moved to 5A, but no such luck. I also noticed that Boyle had moved from the west to the east, which means we could play them now without it being at state. I wouldn't mind a chance for revenge. :fight:

Ok. In what way? I'm having stupid moment and need it explained.

Rockcastle County 2007?
Not to be picky, but they don't play on carpent anymore, do they? They play at Papa John's Stadium and isn't it grass? Just wondering. I do expect Bell to be our toughest test next year, as they are most years. Especially considering the number of seniors that we had this year.

Memorable state final performances
Tamme had a great game that day. He's only like 5 inches taller than anybody that was covering him. Not taking anything away from Tamme. I'm just saying. But I was going to say, also in the Rock vs Boyle game from '01 was Jason Leger from the Rock. I don't know his stats, but he was a sophmore and UK wanted him right then. After watching his performance that day, they said they'd be back in 2 years.

He knew what plays the Rock would run huh? That's pretty impressive since they haven't used that type of game plan in like 4 years. I haven't said it yet, but clearly I was shocked beyond belief at this game. You beat us up and down the field. I realize that, BUT.......several of our fans were trying to figure out what was going on with the play calling. I still haven't figured it out. A hb with 2400 yards and 30 tds and a qb with about 500 yards passing, and you decide to air it out. I just don't get it. It was upsetting to have a qb that's never started a game until this year be called on to try and throw all the time. 5 int sums it up. Our best qb was a freshman that never got in the game. Our trick plays that have worked so well this year weren't called until the 4th quarter. I'm still in disbelief that Ashland shut Grim down and we couldn't do anything. Am I mistaken, or did the JC fans talk about how great the field condition was? I know it was on the radio driving to the game. I didn't see it. Yeah, part of it was ok, but nothing like I was expecting. The deal with the CCH announcers saying Johnsonville, you all have nothing to complain about. So somebody from up there didn't know where they were going? They didn't know where Rockcastle was either. But I had no idea where JC was at. I had to look it up myself. But here's why I say you have nothing to complain about, in 2002 when we went to state for the second time, the KHSAA got our city location wrong in the programs. I mean, it was the second year we were there and the KHSAA got it wrong. They got it right the first time, but the second time was a city that I still haven't found in the state. Talk about insulting.- Johnson Central 29 Rockcastle 7
You're right. #62 is a good lineman. But he's not a senior. So he may have his time next year to be recruited, hopefully not by Louisville. As far as Brad sucking air. How many 300 lbs linemen that play both ways do you think would be able to run up and down the field and not be? Besides, in the 1st quarter, your FB/LB was breathing so hard that his breath made him look like he was smoking.- Male #3 in the Nation
Personally I think the problem is the validation of the poll. I posted earlier that USA Today doesn't have them in the top 10 in the region, much less the nation. The reason I question the poll is because Rockcastle is ranked 18th in the state and Lincoln Co isn't in the top 25. Lincoln beat Rock earlier. Also, Danville is ranked 19, just behind Rock. I don't know what system they used to come up with this, but it seems a little suspect to me.- Rockcastle County (11-1) at Johnson Central (12-0)
I'm a little surprised by the poll here. It was neck and neck for awhile, then BOOM Rockcastle took off. I'm shocked the margin is so big. Hopefully that's the way the game will go tonight, close until half and then we explode in the second.- Rockcastle County (11-1) at Johnson Central (12-0)
I don't remember that game. I don't think I was there. Just curious, what time is the team leaving?- Rockcastle County (11-1) at Johnson Central (12-0)
Where does JC go next year as far as their class? Rock goes to 4A. - Johnson Central 29 Rockcastle 7
