  1. Let me ask this question then: if Vick had been in a night club after the game and some fans started on him then and he gave the finger with no cameras around, would you all still have a problem with it? I admit, it's not the best thing to do, but when you're walking up the tunnel and there's 1000 fans standing there cussing you and giving you the finger, I bet you'd be surprised at how many players would give it right back. I think just as much of the blame should be placed on the fans that instigated it. Nobody forced them to go to the game and nobody forced them to stay there. If they don't like it, they can stay home and watch a different game. I've NEVER been a fan of Vick's, but at least he tries. I've seen him short hop an open receiver 10 yards away on 3rd and 6 on the first drive of the game, but he hustles unlike Randy Moss. I'm not saying what he did was ok. I'm just asking if everybody would be making such a big deal about it, if it wasn't on camera?
  2. Why not? Everybody does that with Notre Dame. I'm not saying that they'll be good next year. Who knows? But just because they've been bad in the past doesn't mean anything. Look at Louisville and Florida. They scheduled Miami and Florida St because they've had good seasons lately. So they were trying to play a conference leader and it didn't work out. They shouldn't be criticized for it.
  3. I would rather eat crow, because that means they would have accomplished something. But I have already said if Tubby is able to turn the team around, I'll be the first person to say give him a contract extension.
  4. Pretty much the same, since they didn't do it last year either.
  5. I'm not sure who your team is, but NU's OOC schedule is a lot tougher than Michigan or Louisville. I'm not saying Wake Forest will dominate for years to come, but how do you know they won't? Every good team has to have a start somewhere.
  6. I'm only 27. My history of NU football only goes back to the very early '90s. I "grew up" watching the Huskers run all over teams. That's what I loved about it. I think a team that can constantly run for 400+ yards against anybody, even if they're in the top 5, is a dominant team. And that's why I started loving them. I, too, agree that a change was needed. Although I miss the days of a huge line with guys like Frazier, Phillips, Green, Frost, Crouch, Berringer, Schlensenger or the Mackavias behind the line, I think changing to the west coast offense will actually help them in years to come. Now Callahan can start recruiting the big time players at WR and QB and they'll want to play for him, because he knows what it takes to get to the NFL and to the Super Bowl. I told a coworker last year right before he watched the bowl game that he was be shocked because he hadn't seen NU air it out. I was looking forward to this season and overall they haven't disappointed. We shouldn't have lost to Texas or OSU, but we can still make a BCS game. So I'm still happy about the season.
  7. I would like a team that is consistantly good. Not one that finishes unranked after last season with 3 all americans and is unranked this year. I would like a constant top 15 team. Not one that losses to Indiana and Kansas by over 25. I don't think that's too much. I would like a team to occasionally make the Final Four and not get beat in the second round every other year by UAB. I would like the type of players that Pitino recruited that brought some excitement to the game. I would like to see the full court press like we used to do and a team that could score some points and not finish the game with 60. I realize that Tubby is not Pitino and I'm fine with it. If Tubby could do what I've asked for, I'd be the first to say give him a contract extension. I don't think I've asked for too much. Actually I'd say I probably want what all other UK fans want. I could handle a low scoring team if they would constantly win. I know they play Tubby's style. But I just don't think it's working. I'm not asking for a championship every year. I'm not asking for a Final Four every year. But going 0-7 is too much for a program like UK.
  8. Yep, as I expected, you ignored the fact that I never praised Pitino and claimed to want him back, as you stated earlier. As far as the King of England. You realize that the Queen has kids right and she was married? That means that there was a king at one point. I'm no genius on British history, so I don't know where he's at now. I think they got a divorce. It was intended to be a ridiculous statement, just like you claiming that I wanted Pitino back.
  9. Well then I guess I misread it. I am a fan. As I've stated, I don't like Tubby. I think his style and recruiting abilities are not what UK is used to or needs. He may very well be a fine person. I don't know. I've never met him, so I can't say. I've watched many of the games on tv and have watched what has been going on. So I have actually seen a lot of it with my own eyes. As far as the UK haters, they're going to hate us regardless. And they're going to laugh everytime we loose. Puke could go 30-2 and I'm going to laugh at those two losses. So it doesn't really matter if the team has a bunch of negative or not, they're going to laugh. But I understand why you say that. I just don't like where the program is at.
  10. News flash for you!!!! I didn't say I wanted Pitino back or was supporting him. I think ALL UK fans owe him for rebuilding UK basketball and made it into the program that you love. What I was saying was, is that Pitino took an average team and made them into a powerhouse. Tubby has taken a powerhouse and made them into an average team. I was just making a comparison of the two. Not once in any of my posts will you find the statement that I want Pitino back. It's easy to take something out of context and make it say whatever you want. If I tried hard enough, I could probably make it sound like you claim to be the King of England. But that would just be silly, wouldn't it?
  11. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
  12. OK, now I'm just confused. You never said his winning % was better. That's fine. But you implied it. Why else would you point out that his % was 4th? That doesn't make sense. Pitino took the team when 10-15 losses was the norm and built it to where 3-5 was normal. Tubby has taken a team where 3-5 losses were normal and pulled it down to where 10-15 are normal. Yeah, I don't see a decline there. Anyway, about saying your comment was stupid, you implied that since I don't go to games, that I'm not a fan. Don't deny it. That's what you said. I mean, why else would you say that, if that wasn't what you wanted to imply. So I said that statement was stupid, because people can live in other states and still be fans, even though they're not able to go to games. I know that to be true, because I have family in Texas and they love UK, but don't get to attend any games. Saying that you and Tubby are the same wasn't exactly a comment. I was implying that you're both happy with a bunch of regular season wins and not doing anything in the tournaments. Lots of teams do that. Especially from the mid-majors. They get 25 wins a season and make the tourny to get bounced in the first or second round. Their winning % is probably close to his. But if that makes you happy, then I'm glad for you.
  13. ^I agree with you as far as not being off the UK bandwagon. But according to some people on here, we have to like everything about UK or nothing at all. Those are some interesting numbers that you posted. I don't know that I would go so far as to say UCLA has been a great team over the past 8 years or so. Perhaps, but I probably wouldn't say it. One stat that jumped out at me was Final Fours. UNC and Puke have 3 and UK has 1. That's pretty much what I've been talking about this whole time. That 1 was, what, 8 years ago? They're 0-7 since. If they gave championships for regular season victories, UK would be in the running every year. But they don't. Over the past 4 years, UK has lost 2 elite 8 games. But they've also lost in the 2nd round twice. So it's elite 8 or 2nd round. They've had some great players and teams in the past. Tayshaun Prince's junior or senior year, I can't remember, I expected them to at least make the FF that year with the players they had. But they didn't. I don't remember what they did, but I'm pretty sure I was very disappointed. It just seems like UK gets some good players, but Tubby can't coach them to do much. I think that's either one of two things: Tubby can't coach, or he can't recruit the kind of players that UK needs. Actually that could be both.
  14. I was not aware. I only find out the schedules one year at a time. And this is the earliest I've ever known of next year's schedule. I'm looking forward to the UT games, even though it's 10 years away. That's only an hour and a half drive, so I might get to go to that game in Knoxville. I have a 2 month old son and he'll be around 10 by then, hopefully I can take him down there to watch it.
  15. It'll be close. This Keller guy was leading the NCAA in passing or something at ASU until he got injured. Although Taylor is a great QB IMO, I'm not too worried about a downgrade at QB next year.
  16. I've been to Rockcastle games and saw a Rock player make an opposing player do a complete flip on a punt return, they got hit so hard. It was great. I'm talking feet straight up in the air and head next to the ground.
  17. It is your theory when you try to say that Tubby's winning % is better than the past coaches we've had. Since the facts show otherwise, it has to be a theory. As far as you attending all the games, hooray for you!!! So what you're saying is that if I lived in Texas, I couldn't be a fan because I don't go to the games? That's stupid. And I don't hate UK. I don't like Tubby. Plain and simple. What has he done in the last 8 years? And don't give me that awesome winning %. If that makes you happy and you don't have a problem with a terrible tourny showing, then I guess that makes you and Tubby exactly the same. Anybody can have a high number of wins during the season and get bounced in the second or third round every year. Tubby has simply perfected it.
  18. That was brutal. This kid commited to UK? Awesome!!!
  19. They don't play Oklahoma and Texas during the same regular season. They play one for a few years and then play the other. In '08 they'll play OU and not Texas. However, this year, they'll play USC, Texas and Oklahoma in the same season. If they beat OU, they'll get a BCS game, therefore playing yet another tough team.
  20. billyrayjoebob blew your theory out of the water with his post of past coach's winning percentage. But regardless, it's easy to win when you schedule a bunch of high school teams. I posted in the thread about who UK's next coach would be, and it was embarrasing the teams that we've played the past 2 years and then to have UK fans talk about what a great winning % Tubby has. It's ridiculous. Last year they lost to North Carolina, Indiana by 26, and Kansas by 27. Then they somehow beat a bad Louisville team and barely avoided being beat by probably our 4 biggest rivals. But his .733 % is nice and he can boast about that while setting at home after the first weekend of the tournament, since they have trouble with the second or third round.
  21. First let's look at last year's schedule. They went 9-7 in the SEC during the season. That's the worst they've done in years. They were 10-4 OOC. That includes: South Dakota St, Lipscomb, Liberty, High Point, Georgia St, Iona, Ohio, and UCF. Plus unranked Indiana (that beat UK 79-53) and Louisville. Yeah, real tough schedule. They did schedule 4 ranked teams (17 Iowa, 13 West Virginia, 14 North Carolina, and 22 Kansas.) WVU is the only one of those 4 that they beat. In fact, they only beat 2 ranked teams ALL YEAR. That was WVU and Tennessee once. Not to mention losing by 27 to a Kansas team that you criticized earlier. This year isn't any better. They scheduled: Miami (OH), Miss Valley St, Charleston, Chattanooga, Santa Clara, UMass, EKU, and Houston. Plus unraked Indiana and Louisville (who barely avoided huge upsets twice.) They also played DePaul. And granted, they have played 2 top 15 teams. But they didn't "schedule" them. The could've avoided playing them. The only ranked team they scheduled OOC was UNC, and they've already been beat this year. UNC at least has scheduled 4 consecutive ranked opponents. I've said it once, and I'll say it again, UK gets a lot of their wins against a bunch of nobodies. That makes it easier for them to get 20 wins every year. Perhaps the biggest reason their SOS is so high is because of the number of ranked SEC teams that they have to play. If my numbers are correct, they're 2-9 against their last 11 ranked opponents and that's not including UConn in the tournament. That doesn't sound like an elite team to me.
  22. You say that with sarcasm, but I think you're right. He doesn't really appear to care. He can't understand why UK fans are upset. I know die hard Tubby fans that used to jump my case if I said the least negative thing about him, and now they're turning against him. Look at the weak and pitiful teams that we play OOC and tell me that beating them is reflective of a great team. I know a lot of teams do that, but they don't constantly go around talking about winning percentage and all that. They look at the number of Final Fours that they get to.
  23. But he has recruited everyone of them. He's been there long enough to weed out the bad apples and try to clean the place up. Is it his fault? Maybe, maybe not. But 9 times out of 10, the coach will get canned.
  24. Kind of stretching it there, aren't you? First Duke, UNC, and Louisville HAVE MADE THE FINAL FOUR IN THE LAST 8 YEARS!!!!!! The almighty Tubby can't say that. I almost agree with you, though, about Coach K. He gets countless numbers of All Americans every year and doesn't seem to do very much with them. In a few years, if UNC and Kansas have become mediocre, then that will tickle me to death. I want to see those teams struggle, so I wouldn't be calling for a coaching change. I do HOWEVER, want to see a change in UK so they can be somewhat respectable again. Finishing a season unranked isn't respectable in my opinion.
