We had no lines and the announcers on the radio couldn't tell what yard line the ball was on. I didn't feel well, so I stayed in out of the ran and tried to recover. But all of the players were covered from head to toe in mud and you couldn't tell which helmet was which. I think the two teams fumbled on 4 straight plays at one point.

Rock LOVES the mud. I say this almost literally, Rock doesn't lose if it's a slop game. I'm sure they have, but I honestly can't recall in my years of watching them, them ever losing a game with a muddy field and sloppy conditions.

Hmmmm......perhaps if I were neutral. But being from Rockcastle, I don't know what it would take for me to be for JC. It would be MAJOR!!!! No sport excites me like Rock football.

Cincy's St. X and Colerain are #2 and #4 in the region and both are in the top 15 in the nation. I have no idea just how good Male is. They very well may be #3. I'm leaning toward, "not." In 2002 Trinity was ranked #4 in the nation according to USA Today. That's the highest I have ever seen a KY team. I love KY football and I think it's very exciting. However, I personally feel that several teams in west Texas alone would be anybody in KY. If that's the case, then it doesn't make sense for them to be #3. But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

When Nebraska plays a home game, Memorial stadium really is the 3rd largest city in Nebraska. Something like 80,000 or so. I expect a great deal there. I remember Rock's first semi final game in 2000 against Highlands. The gates to the school didn't open until like 4:30, the game was at 7:30 and there was people waiting out on the road and blocking traffic to get in. I don't predict scores. It would be extremely lucky to get it right. I do think Rock will win. Experience, defense and a strong running game I think will be the difference. I anticipate a great game. I know many Rock fans will make the journey.

I had never been to LexCath's field until last year's semi final. I was shocked at the facilities. Obviously I set on the visitor's side and it was awful. The stands were about 8 rows deep and only about 30 yards long. Now you would think that as much money as they pay their players, the could use some of that to better their field. But then I guess they couldn't get the talent that they want. It could also be a psychological thing. Or maybe they're just rude and don't want anybody else there. Several of our fans went and set in their bleachers because the seats were so bad on the visitor's side.

I would think all teams' crazies would be out this weekend. Especially it being this late in the season. Hey, I have a question for a CovCath fan that has been on my mind for a long time. Why is the visiting team's players in front of the CovCath fans and the CovCath players in front of the visitor's fans?

Well according to some other posts here, that's incorrect. Apparently incidental touching isn't a penalty. I didn't know that.

Rockcastle/Danville played several times in the early 90's. I could be wrong, but seems like Rockcatle/Ashland Blazer play almost every year. What about CCH/Highlands? I don't know their history, but I would expect them to have played many playoff games against each other.

Anybody have any thoughts on the best way to get to the game from Rockcastle? Mapquest says to go to Winchester and down the Bert Combs Parkway. The Mt. Vernon Signal says to go to London and the Hal Rogers Parkway to 80, that way. Any suggestions?

I didn't say that did I? I don't remember saying it, and didn't mean to if I did. Was it one of the posts by doubleduece? Those had been edited before I saw them. I know refs have a hard job. Especially with all the tension of the two rival teams against each other. Plus all the people in the stands. Refs earn their money. That's for sure.

I'm not complaining. I think football, for the majority, is called fine. With the human element, you'll never have perfection. But you can try to get there. I just hope they don't do to all the rules the way they did with protecting the QB, and not being able even touch them without getting a penalty.

Ok, so how often do you see offensive players get called for it? I would say it's extremely rare. I've seen defensive backs have their heads pushed back so far that the back of their heads almost touch the numbers on their jersey. I've seen defensive players get pulled to the ground by their masks. It doesn't get called that often. I didn't say there wasn't a rule against it. It's much the same way with pass interference. You might see offensive pass interference called once in 15 games. Yeah, there's a rule for it. But it's not something that gets called often.

Hmmmm.....I stand corrected. You learn something everyday, right? I always thought that ANY contact by the defender to the offensive mask was a penalty. Very well then. I'll keep that in mind.

On what level is that rule? I'm stunned by that statement. I've never seen an accidental face mask not called in the NFL.

Well I can't speak for all of Rockcastle either. Heck, there's people here that I can't stand and I've lived here my entire life. But your comments are appreciated, at least by me.

How true, how true. I saw Dwight Freeney a couple of weeks ago miss a sack when the QB wasn't looking at him and was a setting duck. I'm a big Colts fan, but it was a horrible tackle. I don't remember who they were playing. It might have been the Patriots. Whoever it was, Freeney tried to bull rush and knock him over. The QB bounced off of him and rolled out and completed a pass while Freeney had to chase him down. It was horrible.

No, it's very much an advantage for the offense. If you scroll up, I said that I think it's a double standard. I also think that the offense should have to stiff arm in the chest or something and not be allowed to even touch the mask, the same way the defense isn't allowed to.

I've gotta say illegal on this one. I think ANYTIME the defense touches the offensive players mask, it's a penalty. The severity of the penalty is determined later. But I'm pretty sure any contact is a penalty.

I'm not sure about high school. But in the NFL, the defensive player can bump the receiver for 5 yards from the line of scrimmage. After that it's either pass interference or illegal contact. I don't think the defender can jam the facemask at the line. This would probably a "hands to the face" penalty.

Seems like a double standard doesn't it? You shouldn't be able to grab the mask on offense or defense. You should have to stiff arm in the chest or something. It's kind of like offensive pass interference. You only see that called about 1% of the time that it happens.
