  1. Didn't know I had to make a Top 10 list.
  2. Yeah, you're right. What was I thinking?
  3. I've been looking for awhile and I can't find where I said anything about Quinn in the NFL. I haven't found it. Please quote it for me. I don't believe the letters NFL were in my first post. That said, Quinn probably will be one of the top picks. I hope he enjoys it in Oakland and can get along with Moss. But just because he's picked near the top doesn't mean much. Look at Ryan Leaf. Great college QB, terrible NFL QB. Will Quinn be another Leaf? We'll find out in about a year. Maybe he will, maybe he won't. You can't say that he won't be a Leaf, because you don't know. I doubt many college QBs could be as bad as Leaf, but it can happen.
  4. Then they should save us non-Michigan fans from having to listen to the pretty boy, and everybody else that is biased about it. If that's what they all think, then why ask them about it? But it goes for all players/schools. I'm just using him as an example since the thread is about him.
  5. Yep. Handed to them. Just like their BCS bid. Their last 3 bids, including this year, the teams were average at best. The last 2, they've gotten a beat down and probably will this year too. They only get there because the media love them. As for Quinn: Army, Navy, Air Force, Stanford, Michigan St, UCLA and I'm probably forgetting somebody. Not exactly the toughest schedule you can have. Shane Boyd could probably put up those numbers against those teams. Besides, Zac Taylor at Nebraska had numbers you could compare to Quinn: 60% completions 3,071 yards 25 tds/7 ints 1 rushing td And Quinn had a lot more pass attempts against a weaker schedule. So yeah, I'd say, to me, Quinn is probably average.
  6. Maybe Muhammed and Berrian should change their numbers to in the 50s. That way Grossman will think they're defenders and hit them in the numbers. Think it would work? Except for that whole ineligable receiver deal.
  7. Quinn probably does simply because he plays for ND. They always get everything handed to them. All they have to do is have an average season and the media just eats it up.
  8. I think he's got happy feet too much, he keeps thinking he's playing against the Bear's defense.
  9. Yeah, I think I'm going to be sick now. :creepy:
  10. I couldn't agree more. Well, maybe I could, but it would be difficult.
  11. We lost in 2000 to Highland 41-9 at the Rock. That was the best team I've ever seen in person. They were like #16 in the nation or something. I've never seen a team that good. I couldn't imagine playing the #4 ranked team.
  12. Uh huh. Thanks for clearing that up. I was almost right. I just got a little confused. :thumb:
  13. That's what I initially thought. Didn't that team start off bad? Like lossing the first 3 or 4 that year? I know that they finished strong, regardless how they started. I would say that's the best team. I doubt that final can ever be duplicated.
  14. Which team was it that was ranked #4 in the nation according to USA Today? I was thinking it was 2002, but the more I thought, it might have been 2001. I don't remember.
  15. Here's an article on ESPN.com about this very topic. Scroll way down to the bottom to the section titled "Adventures in Officiating." It states that any kind of arm motion that causes the ball to go forward is a pass, either underhanded or overhanded. That's why a shovel pass is underhanded, but not considered a forward lateral. It's legal behind the LOS or illegal if past the LOS. If the ball is tossed backwards, it's a fumble. If the ball is "intentionally" fumbled forward, it's a forward pass, and may be illegal. This clearly wasn't an intentional fumble. Plaxico Burress did this a few years ago and it was called a fumble. The ball went backwards after he spiked it in the ground. The call was the correct call for the way the rules are stated. Whether or not that's the way it should be is debatable. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=easterbrook/061128
  16. Is this true? I don't know exactly how the playoffs will work next year. There will still be 5 total rounds right? If so, wouldn't district 7 play district 8 in the 3rd round, like this year? Or are they changing that format too?
  17. Gees...I can't believe what I'm seeing. I've never seen a team cry so much. I would've thought a defending state champ would handle themselves better than this. I know that not all Russell fans are crying, but some are, and it's ridiculous and actually kind of insulting. Not insulting to me because I've NEVER seen either of these teams play. So it means nothing to me personally. But to wait until after your team losses to start complaining is crazy. I have a two month old son that doesn't cry this much. I'll get some of his pacifiers and give to the Russell fans that need them. You all should get over it. I don't know anything about the game, other than the score was just a few points difference. I would imagine there are some plays in the game that if you had executed better, you would've won. Then you wouldn't have anything to complain about. But you didn't. So now it appears as though you're sore losers and looking for any excuse you can find. Like I said, I realize that not all Russel fans are crying. But the ones that are, are killing me. An asterisk next to Mercer??? Are you serious? It's not easy to take two football teams and put them together and get team chemistry like this in such a short time. Why do you think the All Star games suck, and the USA sucks in international basketball? Too many players and not enough stats to go around. I applaud Mercer's coaching staff for being able to pull it together. I was impressed by the numbers they put up this year. I'm glad Rockcastle didn't play them. The problem you have is that they combined the two schools? So if there had never been two schools, only Mercer Co, they would've had the same number of students/players and that would be ok? It seems that's the problem. That they combined the two and now the enrollment is uneven. I just don't see it. It looks to me like some sore losers from Russel.
  18. Do you not remember the Alamo Bowl last year between NU and Michigan, with Mike Tirico announcing? I don't know if it was homerism, but every other word out of his mouth condemed NU and praised Michigan. Last play of the game: "Nebraska" is out on the field. "Nebraska" should be penalized and "Michigan" should be given another play. Did he have his eyes closed or something? There were just as many UM players on the field as there were NU. It made me sick to listen to him call that game. He went on the WHOLE time about how great Michigan was. But they obviously weren't great enough.
  19. That's actually what I thought about the 2000 Highlands team that came to the Rock. I looked at them and didn't think much about it because most of their players were smaller than our's. But 41-9 later, I knew different. It's like they were covered in vasoline. We couldn't tackle them.
  20. They acutally went undefeated from like '93 to '04 or someting like that. They had won well over 100 straight games. I'm not sure of the exact number without looking it up. But they've been "National Champs" like 5 or 6 times or something. I just expected more.
  21. Oh. I wasn't sure who played who. I just knew De La Salle and Lakeland was there. To change the subject briefly, have you ever seen anything on De La Salle? I was not impressed with the school and stuff at all. Earlier this year, they played Mission Viejo(sp?) who was ranked #4 in the nation at the time. There was only an estimated 7,000 people there. Do you find that strange? I mean, #1 and #4 in the nation and they can only get 7,000? A weak attendance at the 4A game tonight had 10,000. And the stadium, I believe it was at Mission Viejo, had mostly standing room and a very small set of bleachers. I would venture to say that Rockcastle has as many seats as they had. I was just expecting more from California football powerhouses.
  22. Yeah, earlier this year in this event, I want to say that De La Salle in California played Lakeland, Florida or something. There was also a highly ranked national team from Arkansas I think, played somebody. Sounds like some great football regardless.
