  1. I heard yesterday on B105, they will be on the East Plaza starting at noon. There is another storm behind this one . It is currently on the Indiana- Illinois border or so. I hope it pushes off to the north or south.. Hooters in Newport is running the ferry across for $5 like they do for the ball games.
  2. Who is going? I heard there was something going on with live bands and activities in parking lot 4 starting at noon. Does anyone have information on this? I can not find it anywhere. Thanks for any help.
  3. They are playing the West Pines Cobras from Florida. They are undefeated.
  4. Is it true some of this past years underclassmen got together at the school to show support of Coach Myerhoff? What about one players Facebook page? I heard there was a pretty good statement on there saying his feelings. I guess one of the out going seniors is one of the only negative comments on that. I am not on Facebook so I do not have details on it. Maybe some one else does. Quote by Old Sports Dad: For anyone that says that they had no Senior leadership, that may be correct, but their were leaders on that team, but you have to let them lead by naturing and developing leadership. It goes back to the Respect thing. Leaders will lead. They will stand up for what they believe is right.
  5. Who do these teams have left to throw tonight? I am not familiar with them. Who are some of their top players? Do they have any players that were drafted? Where are they headed off to college?
  6. I wonder if Pat will need any help next year. I hear there is a coach that Might be looking for a job. Or could it be a job looking for him??
  7. Everything comes to an end at some point?? Does this mean Coach Rash will go next? I guess Krumps and Max will be going soon from their schools. Who else has been around awhile? I do not understand this comment. As far as the administration.... If it were me, I would probably get out and ask what is going on. I would not just decide to let a coach go without some information. The way I see it is this, players play, parents cheer and coaches coach. There were players this year that wanted things their way. I am sure some were urged on by their parents. I wonder how many times Krumps has had players come to him and be told this is who should be playing and where?? After BW lost to CCH in the district seed game they were back to school before the JV game was over. There was one parent who walked down by the stands with his player/son, turns and and starts walking back toward the school as he tells his son he is an idiot he should not be coaching. BW lost 10-0 with a least part of the suggested lineup. I will say this, Bob may not be the easiest to get along with at times. He understands what he wants to happen on the field and will speak his mind if he feels you are not doing it. He can be abrasive at times, can't we all. He is not going to be a coach to pat Junior on the head and tell him it is OK you missed the ball or a sign. He is going to get in his butt. This offends some people. I have never had an issue with this when it was needed. The kids have to learn to handle criticism some where. My son played for Bob for 5 seasons. I have not always agreed with some of the decisions. It did not make me want to call the AD, principal or any of that. If I had a lingering issue I would talk with him. I don't understand why people won't talk with the person they have an issue with. Bob being let go will go far beyond what happens between the lines during a game or practice.
  8. Bob was not fired. His contract was not renewed. It expires July 1. I give him credit fir not giving in to the parents over the years. He always did what he felt was best for the team. IMO
  9. What I have heard...., Beechwood has decided to go a different direction. The new superintendent has let 8 people go so far. Coach Myerhoffs contract will not be renewed. This is a huge mistake in my opinion. BW was nothing before him. They will probably be back to mediocrity now. I wonder if Coach Mullins wished he would of waited a year?? Looks like the parents and players who have soft feelings have cried to their way. Would Coach M take an assirant gig?? Maybe CCH or HC. Now that would be funny!
  10. There was nothing to handle for Coach Myerhoff. It is my understanding no one at BW had any involvement. As VOR said, that can be left out. The bus left for Powell Co. No one with the team had any idea where he was. It is simple, he does not wait for you. Every player knows what time the bus leaves. If you are not there it goes. It does not matter if you are the best player or a sub. It is the same with your equipment/uniform. If you do not have the proper items to play, you do not play. He would not take a uniform or equipment off of a player to give a starter.
  11. Coach Myerhoff has not been informed of this. This is probably wishful thinking by those who think they know more about baseball than coach does. If there is any disconnect, it would be with this years team. There was no senior leadership. Mix that with 2-3 players and/or parents that think they could run the team better than coach. Last years team was senior loaded. There were a couple players on that team that would tell you if you don't like it leave. This is high school baseball. Every player does not get a trophy. Every player does not get to play. Some of these young men/boys will be lost when they graduate. They won't have mommy and daddy there to protect them from the cruel world. There are parents who do not like their kids to be disciplined. These are the players that have a problem with coach. For me, he can coach me, my kids or grandkids any day of the week. For the record. He shares an office with the freshman football coach. This is the reason he took his personal belongings with him. Good day
  12. I can guarantee you not all coaches vote for it. They get enough votes for it to pass.
  13. That is very interesting. Thanks for the link. What a huge difference from region to region. It brings up a few questions. I have always heard the state sets the ticket prices, why are some of them different ($5-$7)? How does it cost $4,400 more to operate Florence Freedom over Whitaker Bank Park? Why does it cost $1,150 for ticket sellers? Does this also include those who take the tickets at the gate? I assume so, it still seems high compared to other regions. I will examine some more.
  14. I like the stadium and almost everything about it. Great view from anywhere you can sit. I do not like the turf field. It changes too many things for the teams. When it is wet a player easily slides by a base and the pitcher can slip on the mound. When it is hot, well we see what happens. There were rain outs in the other regions and they completed those in plenty of time for play on Monday night. If the numbers I have heard about what it cost/ he charges for clean up are true sign me up. I will do it for less and make a lot of money from it. I may not know all of the criteria for it, but let's talk. I am curious if the schools make much from their team participating in this. Would they make more if it was held at a high school? Do the schools care about this part of it? Place my vote on playing at a high school field. I like the grass. Maybe we need a poll on this thread.
  15. I would not trade those years for nothing. My son and daughter played select for many years. We have been from Memphis to Cooperstown to different parts of Florida and many, many points in between. My son has been to Gatlinburg area so many times it is crazy. It was an absolute blast. I am trying to figure out what to do with myself now. You may have to make your way around to some fields. I would say most select teams are getting ready to play or are underway. What area are you from? Someone on here may know a coach or team that could use a player. What age is she? I figure 15-16. Her age as of May 1 will tell what age group she would fall in, 15-U, 16U, ETC. As SSC stated, there is a tourney in the Northern Kentucky area this weekend. I hoped this helped some. Let us know if you have more questions. PM me if you have something else. Good Luck
  16. The play by Murray was awesome. I am not sure about the "not close" part. Dixie had bases loaded early with one out and did not score. It seemed Dixie had multiple chances to score throughout the game. Good pitching and questionable plate discipline cost Dixie. I thought the play at the plate was correct. Max complained, but the ump was not having it.
  17. Bottom 5, Dixie has bases loaded 2 outs, # 11 on to pitch
  18. Dixie rally falls short as HHS pitcher struggled with his control. Dixie had bases loaded with one out and did not score. 4-0 after 4
