I know Mr. Menefee would not be teaching math.......Maybe a business or perhaps even something in the english or arts classes........I can find out what his teaching degree would be in tommorrow though.:thumb:

I believe BEAU (as it is properly spelled) would be teaching in the system as he is getting done with his student teaching and getting his teaching certification done.......I hope he gets the oppurtunity to coach the Tigers as he loves to be around the young men and would be a great hire IMO.

Who is the greatest BlueBird of them all?
I'd have to go with Marty Moore on this one.......Simply nasty coming out of the LB spot....Then Jared, then Frisky.:ylsuper:

CovCath Coaching Situation (Who is next?)
I love J-Lo as much as any HHS fan, but I 'm not so sure he would even pass the initial educational requirements to coach. I would think CCH would be looking for someone that could be in the building teaching and leading their young men in ways that J-Lo may not be qualified to do at this point in his life. No offense intended to Jared, but that's just reality. He would probably make a fine coach down the road with some experience in the field.:thumb:

Jim Hyder steps down at Newport
Any more info available on candidates at this point?

Highlands' freshman standout players from 2008
My mom lives a couple houses down from the one the True's are renovating and has spoken with the parents also and said they made it point to say how much their boys love HHS. I could be mistaken but I believe one of the parents grew up in Ft. Thomas, mom could be wrong though!

Jim Hyder steps down at Newport
I think you might be correct about Scott. I talked to him back in Sept. and I kind of gathered as much from that conversation. I would think he might be interested down the road, but I know the new father thing is his priority ( as it should be!) but I would hope for Newports sake he decides to stay actively involved in the football program. The new coach would be foolish not to want Scott on his staff. He knows what it takes to play Championship caliber HS football and has all the passion and knowledge one needs to be sucessful....the question remains whether or not Newport HS wants to make the commitment to become a great team year in and year out! Hopefully one the two men discussed in this thread will get that oppurtunity and committment from the School!

Jim Hyder steps down at Newport
What about another former Bird currently on Newports staff? I would have to believe he would also be a candidate also if he wants to be. I think Coach Meyers interviewed after Schlarman left didn't he? What are his chances........he's been there a long time and from what I hear the Kids love him, and If I know him at all (and I do) he would be a disciplinarian also.:thumb:

Colerain, OH coming to L'ville in 09??
Yes you could, but keep in mind you have approximately 1000 MORE boys in your school than we do and we could STILL probably give you all you want in a game and even beat you every so often if we played annually. JMO.

Colerain, OH coming to L'ville in 09??
I doubt that also LN, but I also believe there are some T fans that believe T is much better than they are and that they shouldn't have to concede anything to HHS in order to get a matchup to happen.....admittedly, a HHS and T matchup really doesn't do much for T, as they are supposed to beat little ole' HHS, but a HHS victory would mean much more to the HHS program than to T's......JMO.

Weight Rooms..
LN, does HHS still have the Hammer Strenght equipment from the late 80's coach Duffy era, or has it been replaced...Was the last upgrade done in 89 or so? If that's the case, I would have to say that the boys do deserve an upgrade every half dozen Championships or So! LOL:thumb:

Colerain, OH coming to L'ville in 09??
It makes no sense to try and get a game done with a worthy instate opponent that everyone wants to See?.....YOU make no sense. Trinity goes on the road all the time to play big time competition, and surely they don't get the majority of the game gate all the time. Don't think for a minute that a T and HHS matchup coming off a Championship year for both doesn't peek the interest of high school football fans all across the state......If I'm not mistaken there might also be some revenge factor involved for Trinity.....since HHS beat them in their last head to matchup....Great excuse thought for T if they don't want to face the possibility of losing to little old HHS......We couldn't possibly compete with T!
-
Colerain, OH coming to L'ville in 09??
LN, totally agree with you about the extra gas money issue, but I would also assume ( and I probably shouldn't ) that T or X would be willing to share somewhat equally the gate proceeds in order to get this game done. There are not many programs that could demand that kind of arrangement to get a deal done, but HHS could in my opinion.......The only other game Trinity might schedule with more fan interest with a Kentucky team would be X. Just me thinking about something I'm not really sure would be possible.

Colerain, OH coming to L'ville in 09??
LN, I would usually agree with you, but this seems a little silly to say gas prices would keep HHS away from traveling to Louisville. Even if gas were $10 gallon, don't you (and HHS administrators!) think the huge gate would more than offset any additional cost........I'm as big a HHS fan as any, but that would be a totally inappropriate reason not to travel to the Ville to play T if in fact all other logistics could be worked out! You can't be serious!

Mr Football candidates named ... Who wins?!?
It started that year with Newport Catholic TE Frank Jacobs winning it. He went on to Notre Dame and got a National Championship ring. I believe he caught a TD in that game if I'm not mistaken.

5A: Highlands Bluebirds (12-1) at Whitley County Colonels (12-1)
Thats good for Whitely, because that's about the only way they will beat the birds, and I really don't even see that happening.....I'm quite sure if you ask every opponent they play, they will tell you the HHS boys were quite physical also........Also, the team speed of HHS has a way of overcoming some amount of physical play......You can't hit em if ya can't catch em!

5A: Highlands Bluebirds (12-1) at Whitley County Colonels (12-1)
So your prediction is that Whitley will play HHS as close as JC did tonight?.........Interesting......I just don't think this one is as close in the end as tonights game for HHS. I'm going with a 4 TD victory for the Birds. Just too much speed for WCHS, and speed is the killer once you get this far into the playoffs.:ylsuper:

5A: Highlands Bluebirds (12-1) at Whitley County Colonels (12-1)
It doesn't. Speed and accuracy are of vital importance though! Just ask Boom, he'll tell ya all about it!

Great job Birds...good win....Looks like Whitley's next!.......A big Congrats also to Great JC team. They made a heck of game of it in 1st half, but just as many on here suspected, Birds passing game just too much......Birds will not be denied #18!
