With all due respect to Brutscher and Thompson, but did they really deserve to be on this list over:

- Justin Green, Male

- Charlie Banks, Letcher Central

- Chase Richardson, Johnson Central

- Monte Merrick, Bell County

- Ivan Lee, Belfry

- Jordan Aumiller, Boyle County

- Mister Cobble, Lou. Central

- Ridge Wilson, Lou. Central

- Shenard Holton, Warren East

Brutscher has a nice stat line: 70/110, 1000 yards, 9 TD, 2 INT... 46 carries, 206 yards, 4 TD... but is this really Mr. Football worthy? Especially when his teammate seems to be the favorite for the award?

Thompson has 31 TD's, but his team was bounced in the 2nd Round and finished with a 9-3 record.

Deuce gets it running away, literally...

BTW, where will he be attending college?

Seems to be up in the air

From July

Despite several media reports, St. Xavier running back Deuce Finch has still not made a commitment.

Finch said reports that he committed to the University of Kentucky are false.

"I don't know where that started," Finch said.

The 5-foot-10, 200-pound Finch said he holds eight offers but is unsure when he might be ready to make a commitment.

Kentucky, Louisville, Illinois, Northwestern, Stanford, Vanderbilt, North Carolina State and Cincinnati have already offered Finch a scholarship.

"I am not ready to commit," Finch said. "I want to try and start narrowing it down some, but I want to take my time and make the best decision for me."

Finch, who missed four games because of injuries as a junior, ran 170 times for 1,620 yards and 15 touchdowns. He averaged a whopping 9.2 yards a carry for the season.

From August

Running back Rolandan Finch (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) plans to make an unofficial visit to Louisville Sunday for the Cardinals home game with in-state rival Kentucky. Those two programs, along with Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Cincinnati, Stanford and Illinois are in the mix for the 5-foot-10, 205-pounder, one of the better prospects in the Commonwealth in the 2009 class. Stanford was first to offer Finch.

From October

From the Kentucky site...recaps his first official visit, to Kentucky, last weekend...talks about sitting down with Coach Brooks...Illinois is the only other official he is sure he will take but is also looking at Boston College, Northwestern, Vanderbilt and Louisville.

I hope he joins the Big Blue they need all the help they can get on O.

I think it has to be Deuce. He's averaging over nine yards a carry playing the best football of his life.

I can't believe that Brutscher was in this poll. I'm not saying that he's bad, that is the farthest from the truth. He is the best passing Qb theyve had in awhile, but did anyone ever believe that a St.X Qb, who runs a "run-run-pass-punt" offense, would get close to a nomination.

With all due respect to Ricky Bowling, who is a fantastic player, but I don't think there is any chance that Mr. Football should come from a 4-7 team (with wins over teams that went a combined 11-32) who was shutout in the first round of the playoffs.
