  1. I am not sure where to start. I have been watching Ky High School football for nearly 20 years. Five of those as a "football dad" and never have I heard the type of language I heard last night from male Cov Cath Fans (not students) directed at their own players. I can understand the occasional slip of the tongue when you think the official blew a call. But to use curse words directed at players standing 30 feet in front of you is unacceptable. I am not accusing anyone of cursing out a player, just yelling at them using curse words. To be fair there were Cov Cath fans sitting around me who were well behaved and uncomfortable with the language. I am not trying to say that Cov Cath fans are worse than other fans, only that last night was the worst I have ever heard. Sparkey
  2. After playing soccer since age six (outstanding Keeper) and football since 8th grade he was a little burned out and wanted to take time off to concentrate on school. He is currently at U of L. Funny thing, he pulled the growth plates apart in both hips his Jr. year but didn't break any bones until playing flag football in college (broken wrist).
  3. As proud as I am of those 2 TD's. I think Schuler is just as good and Vocke even better.
  4. Halftime BW 28 BV 7. Colosimo not playing but Volke having a great game. BW team speed seems to be outdoing BV size. We will see how BV corrects for the second half. If the keep trying to pound it with Buckler I don't think they can come back
  5. Come on Coach, Frankfort has the best defense in Class A. The quarterback is back this week. "Big Rick" is all of 150 lbs. Bellevue's kicker is a sophomore young lady. I think you are sandbagging. :thumb:
  6. Classic Beechwood NewCath game, outcome not decided until the final seconds of the game when BW threw an interception in the end zone. Congrats to NewCath. BW had several chances to pull this one out. Failed on a two point conversion which would have brought them withing 8 and then missed an extra point on the next TD to keep them down by 4. I thought NewCath played it too conservative in the second half, but it worked out. The tigers showed a lot of character, they never gave up and nearly pulled it out. I am much more optimistic going into the playoffs.
  7. Beechwood is just not big enough up front. 4 passes for BW in the first half. They will not win unless they come out in the second half and throw more.
  8. Sparkey sorry if I mistook your post. Just felt like you were saying to a team that you beat Yea we beat you and were going to beat you worse next time. I think most can see why I took that as you spitting in our kids face. If that wasn't the intent then I mistook your post. As far as the overall better athletes I will say they did the job in making Bellevue self explode. But I didn't see all the superior athletes you speak of. I thought this was two fairly well matched teams. By that I'm saying both teams have quite a few very good athletes. No malice intended on my part. Just look at our schedule, we have been hammered in a few games this year. My son played a couple of years ago and during a summer conditioning session was running 60 yard sprints. He would cross the goal line about 10 yards ahead of everyone else. After about the 5th time, he crossed the goal line with his arms raised as if to say come on guys is anyone going to challenge me! When he got home from practice we had a heated discussion about showboating and sportsmanship. Needless to say there was no more of that in practice or games. He let his play on the field speak for itself. Do I get excited at games, you bet I do. My intention, as I think most on this board is not to denigrate kids or teams. In the future I will try to be more clear on the reasons for my views. I think Bellevue has some very gifted athletes and enjoy watching them play. I just think Beechwood has a few more. Just as I think Highlands has many more than Beechwood. As to my original post I really believe the mud took away most of the advantages both sides had and would like to see a rematch where both sides are at their best. You will not see 15 fumbles in a game like that. Sparkey
  9. Not only am I cocky, but now I am spitting in someones face. It helps BW 3 fold because Rigdon, Colosimo and Volke all excel on a dry field (well maybe not Rigdon as much Stop looking for putdowns that are not there. It's not good form to accuse someone of spitting in your face (quite vulgar I might add) when no such thing has occurred or was intended. Sparkey
  10. Not being cocky, I honestly want a rematch because I enjoyed the game. Next to the Holy Cross game this was the best competition Beechwood has had against small schools. I like watching great athletes and would love to see Buckler play in conditions that don't hold him back. Anyone who has watched Beechwood football this year knows their play style is a quick hitting slashing offense. The mud took that away. Buckler may match Rigdon in speed but Rigdon is not the fastest player on the team. As to your comment that Bellevue has better athletes overall. There have been plenty of discussions on this board about the quality of players at Beechwood verses the other 1A schools. Yes I am "wishing" to play Bellevue on a field that allows the teams to showcase their talents on BOTH sides. I love watching a good HS football game, especially with the season on the line. I have seen Ryle, Highlands and Dixie all play twice this year (actually Highlands 3 times if you include St. X TV replay). So yes, looking forward to a rematch. Sparkey
  11. The field was the great equalizer tonight. That will not be the case if these two teams meet again. Buckler is a great athlete, but what Bellevue gains with Buckler on a good field Beechwood gains 3 fold. Just too much team speed and overall better athletes for Beechwood. I was not surprised by the heart Bellevue showed. They seem to step it up a notch when Beechwood comes to town. It is a shame that Bellevue is in the same district as Beechwood because they win most other districts. Good luck Bellevue in the playoffs, hoping for a rematch. Sparkey
  12. Watched the replay on the local news, the whistle clearly blew and the broadcaster was pointing it out to verify it was the correct call.
  13. That was one of the most exciting games I have seen on that field in many years.
  14. As poster #8 I never said the result seems to be a done deal. I did infer that Highlands defense was better than HC's and since Beechwood moved the ball and scored on Highlands that they should be able to do the same to HC. I also said that the question was could the defense stop HC. I made no prediction but will now. BW takes this one.
  15. I don't think scoring will be a problem for Beechwood. They seemed to be able to move the ball on Highlands and I doubt that HC is as good as Highlands. The key will be how well the Beechwood defense plays.
