I was sitting around doing nothing and decided to go to this game tonight and I didn't regret it. This definitely has to be one of the best games of the season in NKY, along with the game between Ryle and Simon Kenton and others.

 

Newport Catholic was done 25-8 into the 3rd quarter and they tied it at 25 with just a minute to go. Beechwood went for a 2-point conversion that made it according to the officators, however it was controversial.

 

Either way, this was a very fun game to watch and one that I'm very glad that I decided to go to. Games like this are what makes football fun to watch.

Its fun if you were on the Beechwood side and you got the worst call ever to go your way to win the game

I'm not a fan, I'm neutral and thought this would be a great game. You can't just blame that play, eventhough it may have been a drop. NC lost this game in many ways and were fortunate to even make overtime. They had an unbelievable amount of penalties that were mostly senseless and defensively looked lost for nearly three quarters. If they are going to win state or advance deep, they can't play the way they did tonight, guaranteed.

So, was BW leading big or was NCC leading big before the scored was tied up?

I agree. This game did a lot more fore NewCath than Beechwood. When you have a team at 3rd and 25 you have to be able to get off of the field. They didn't and it turned into a 40 plus yard TD pass. Beechwood came out swinging and beat NewCath down for 36 minutes. To their credit NewCath fought back, but you can't make unforced penalties, get another one for losing your composure. Hopefully the Breds learned the lesson that you must play all 4 hard not just when you are backed into a corner.

This debate will go on forever over was he in or not. This one play did not lose this game for NCC. All of the personal fouls and the unsportsmanlike conduct along with many other penalties were a huge problem for NCC.

Cable was there in the booth - showed the replay. The extra point was not good, The kid dropped the ball when it hit his hands - ball hit the ground. The replay showed he wasn't even in the endzone anyway. Un fortunately neither team will be happy with this one - BW knows they did not win, but NCC will get the loss. I have to believe the official had to see it but decided to make the wrong call.

Where was the camera at the goal line? I did not see one. How can a player put his hands on the ball at about the 2 yard line, tuck it in and get to the goal line and not catch the ball? The ball came out in the endzone. BW does not know they lost. Check the scoreboard. It sounded like BW was pretty excited about the Win on the buss on the way out to the highway.

 

NC had many more problems than the last call tonight. I will give them credit for coming back. It would of been easy to give up.

This was one of those plays that if it had happened on NewCath's sideline it would have been an incomplete pass, and on Beechwood's a 2 pt conversion. I haven't seen it on replay, so I'll hold my opinion. However, a person was right there that had no dog in the fight. He said that the RB never had complete control. However, this is just like an MMA fight. If you let it get to the judge's card, you only have yourself to blame. Great game by both, and Coach Rash and Eviston are first class sportsmanship wise. The stands....not so much on either side.

The worst call of the game was the 3 points NCC got for free on the field goal.

And before you ask.....watching the film right now.

And for the record 42 was in. Just watched it 24 times.

Where does one get film of this game?

I thought the football crossed behind the upright. I thought BW would of complained more on that.

 

It is funny how one person says the replay shows he is not in and another shows he was. From my perspective, top of stands at that end, he did catch it and was in. The ball came out in the endzone after the hit. Thanks slick

 

Hope 72 is OK for NCC. Hate to see injuries this late or anytime.
