The field goal was super bad. It was 3 feet wide at least.

As far as the 2 point play goes...there was obvious possession...42 turned and crossed the plane of the goal...and then dropped the ball. As soon as he crossed the plane... the game was over. End of story. Keep it classy NCC fans.

As for the "call", the refs got it right. I watched it over and over and while it was a bang bang play, Vocke was in when he fumbled the ball.

 

He caught the ball at the two, turned, took a step, crossed the plain, and then was just absolutely hammered by the NCC defender.

 

NCC fans showed very little class after the game with some of their comments to not only adults, but kids as well. SOME of those NCC fans could take a lesson or two from Mexitucky. Their comments took away from a great game by both sides.

 

AS for the rest of the game, the difference was Beechwood's ability to pass throughout the night. Nussbaum had a HUGE game out wide and Vocke has 111 yards on his first two carries of the game. (66 yards and 45 yards)

 

I was also impressed with Colosimo's toughness for how lanky he is. Beechwood's underclassmen really stepped up tonight...Maus, Cruse, Vocke, and Nussbaum.

Once I took I got to the track around the field I remembered that it was a high school game. As for Beechwood's second TD in overtime where Vocke ran all over before throwing the ball, where did the receiver catch the ball and were O-Linemen downfield. He went back and forth across the field before throwing it, so I was fairly certain that men were downfield. That doesn't matter if the receiver caught the ball behind the 10. I was wondering on that one. BUT AGAIN, 5 players missed tackles on Vocke before he completed that pass. Can't leave it up to the judges.

BTW, does anyone know if Morse (#72) of Newcath is ok? He was taken off the field by two players and never returned. Looked to be a knee or ankle injury.

I agree both sides should keep it classy. Bu it seems your comment about the field goal being 3 ft. wide ios strange when an official was posted under each upright. That was the easiest call all night. The only question was if it was long enought, and they apparently thought it was. My only comment on the 2 pt conversion is that an oficial should have immediately put his hands up signaling it was good. I never saw an official sigal anything. The official onthe near sideline turned to watch whether the ball went out of bounds which would have no bearing on the play if the player had made a legal catch in the endzone before the fumble/muff?

Bottom line is the game was meaning less from a playoff standpoint and both teams get to begin persuing what they really want next week. Good luck to both teams, and bring back 2 state titles.
