actually the BW players did say something to the coaches. The good thing is that they didn't let it bother them and they continued to play.

 

FWIW, It was mentioned above that the ref watched the ball roll out of the endzone and waited to make the call on the 2pt conversion. from the video it looks like he doesn't watch the ball and makes the call within 1 second of the hit.

 

Were the players saying they thought the kick was short? If they saw it go wide right, they would have reacted much more than they did. Wide of the goal post is easy to see on the field and would have brought a big reaction. Short or long on a kick like that which just gets over the crossbar is hard to tell unless you are right under the goal post like the officials.

Heard from BW player in position to know. The FG was "good" by about a 1/2 yard.

The announcer who kept harping that there had to be a linmen down field needs to find something else to do on Fri and Sat. nights.

The one thing that you didn't mention in your prior post ... was that the only way that an official would miss it ... is if he wasn't actually looking up at the ball as it went through .. with that said:

1. The official on the left side of the upright NEVER looked up to see if it was good. He looked straight ahead as opposed to whether it went through. It is on film end of story.

2. As I stated previously .. we have the zoomed in version of the ball never getting inside the goal post. It was outside .. without question.

3. The Beechwood players were absolutely livid when they came to the sidelines after the kick (more like disgusted actually). They were very vocal that it was WIDE RIGHT .. NOT SHORT like some of you have said over and over and over. And like I said .. the official actually has to look up .. which he didn't do.

 

 

Kind of surprised at you VOR .... there are people in this thread who has more than "intimate" knowledge of what really happened .. but .. it is what it is.

I am not going to doubt anything you post as you do have intimate knowledge. My point has been that I just can't believe an official could miss that call. An official who misses a call that easy has no business being on the field.

Beechwood has to get past a Mayfield team that has been ranked #1 all year to get to Bowling Green, but last night shows Beechwood can do it. New Cath is the best team Beechwood played all year next to Highlands, and I honestly don't think Highlands is a whole lot better than NCC. IMO this is one fo the best New Cath teams I have seen in the past few years. Their only loss was to the Ryle team that just beat Highlands and NCC had six fumbles in that game yet only lost by a couple TD's. NCC beat both Dixie and Cov Cath. If Beechwood can beat NCC, they can beat anyone left in their path to a title.

For those wanting to watch the replay, once it gets to the end of the first nine minute clip, if you click it forward and wait, the other 2 hours of the broadcast will come up. I like how you can quickly move forward on that video. I do have to say though, that whoever the color commentator was made a complete fool of himself. The play by play guy was ok. I think he was Dan Glasglens (sp?). Dan was ok, but the color commentator was bad. On the Vocke pass in OT for the TD, he keeps yelling "there have to be linemen down field" over and over. If the goofball would watch his own video feed he could see the Beechwood linemen scrambling in the back field 10 yards behind the line blocking for Vocke. There isn't a lineman one down field and the guy just will not stop saying "there have to be linemen down field". Come on man, watch the game you are calling. Then on Vocke's 2 point catch, again he won't even watch the game and his own video and make an objective call. There is no doubt Vocke caught the ball, took two steps and turned to the goal line and then was hit. But this color guy keeps yelling he didn't catch the ball. Terrible. I appreciate the guys who make the effort to broadcast these games, but you have to be better than that. My advice to the color guy, listen to your own broadcast in a few days and work on getting better.

Your absolutely right. Pass interference, fumbles, holding etc. can be argued each way in a lot of circumstances; however, if an official blows a field goal or extra point call, they shouldn't be allowed to ref another game. How easy is it to follow the ball and look up to see if it's wide or in? Enough said. Hats off to NCC for fighting back and tying game. They are by far the largest team Beechwood has played.

Also, I felt it was pretty classless by the scoreboard keeper to take off the 40 points immediately after the 2 point conversion and put up 0 for BW. I know it's a minor thing but IMO classless. Take off the 39 of NCC as well if you can't accept the fact you lost.

I just checked out the NKYsports.com replay. No way you can tell one way or the other from that angle if the ball crossed the goal line on the last play (despite what the announcer said). Unless you have an angle from the side or above I don't see how you can tell.

not true! if you triangulate the distance from the camera to Vocke and the goalpost. Then measure the shadow cast by the light coming from each side of the field you will find that Vocke clearly crossed the plane of the goal line!
