  1. I do not give injury reports. Sorry. After seeing Highlands play, I hope they now concentrate on district play after getting hammered in trying to play up so many times this year.
  2. We should all take care of each other.
  3. No. Teams who want to test themselves will schedule higher classed opponents. I still cannot understand the thinking of 6 classes in our state with the population size and overwhelming number of counties. I still think the driving force behind the idea is that every one has to be a winner/champion. Getting such a game to be approved in today's climate would be impossible.
  4. Since St. X and Trinity posters are required to be kinder and gentler posters here.........They do not know what to say!!!!!!!!!:argue:
  5. Everyone knows, whether you like it or not, this is the week of one of the greatest high school football rivalries in the country St. X vs. Trinity. What are other great rivalries that are worthy of mention in Kentucky? I personally use to enjoy the old Bishop David and Desales rivalry, the Moore and Southern rivalry, and the Male and Manual rivalry which has picked up steam again in recent years. What is your current favorite rivalry or one you feel needs mentioning?
  6. The only predictions I can make are as follows: 1. This game is always unpredictable. 2. Throw out the stats and which position on which team is better. 3. This will be an emotional game. 4. No St. X fan will predict a Trinity win and no Trinity fan will predict a St. X win. That said: St. X - 28 and Trinity - 24
  7. I believe it will be Beaumont or Anderson all others deserve a mention but in reality the choice does become somewhat political and success of team is in reality big. As far as athletic ability between the two, there is not a great distinction between the two as others posting here would lead you to believe. They are both great athletes with similar abilities. Both will play D1. If I had to pick they are so close I would end up being predjudice and choose Anderson. I see both going on to great college carreers. I hope they both do it in their home state.
  8. There is no such thing as a "friendly rivalry" nor should there be. Trinity JVs beat X JVs in all aspects of that game. I was real impressed with Stein and did not realize he was such an efficient passer. The kicker was also spectacular. I have not heard of him until the game. I will not forget him. St. X played Juniors in this game and have done so in the past. I hate losing to Trintiy, no HATE losing to Trinity. This is a great rivalry and if your team does not have one (a great rivalry) you are missing one of the highlights of high school football.
  9. What a great place to play and watch a high school football game. Alot of good memories on and off the field there. I am excited about the new stadium at St. X but I will miss Manual Stadium. I hope the city officials, school board and others recognize this historic place and treat it accordingly. As we are seeing a new arena go up downtown and a stadium going down at the fairgrounds I hope Manual Stadium endures. Maybe they will schedule a game every week there for schools who do not have the same great facility.
  10. When will area state champions play in a super bowl playoff?
  11. By best fans do you mean quantity or quality? In Jefferson County the fan base has been missing from alot of schools for a long time. I believe this is becasue of a lost sense of community. I do know of a few schools in particular who have a few strong loyal fans. Fern Creek and Southern in particular. However on many nights some schools dress more players than they have fans in the stands. There seems to be more community fan bases outside of Jefferson County with a few exceptions. I attribute this to athletic directors, coaches, parents/booster clubs who reach out to the community.
  12. Southern wins in an upset over the Shamrocks 28 - 27!!!!
  13. Why was the touchback rule put in place? I really do not see a need for a change. I would favor being able to return a kick out of the end zone than moving the kick off back. Most teams I have seen would be receiving the ball on the 20 or 25 if you move the kick back.
  14. One thing I will say about the Litratings: They are always controversial.
  15. If Highlands was "beat up" they sure did not play like it. I was also not aware of any injuries that Highlands suffered in the Elder game. Did they come out with out injuries against St. X? I have not seen Elder so I can not make a first hand comparison. I suspect it would be a close game.
  16. Covington Catholic - 35 Beechwood - 7 Beechwood scores late.
  17. Lexington Catholic - 42 Franklin County - 21
  18. I predicted St. X -35 Highlands - 14. I was close. The Bluebirds are tough. The most impressive thing they bring besides their quick offensive line is that there is no quit in them. Good job both teams. Great highschool football game.
  19. This will be a great game. If it were not Dixie's first home game in their new stadium I would say Scott wins this one pretty handily. As it is I will say Scott still spoils the Dixies party by 1.
  20. It appears to me the extra point problems are between the snapper, holder and kicker. The reason I say this is the extra point blocks have been coming off the edges. Since no one blocks oustide it is the speed of the kick blocker coming off the edge vs. the speed of the snap, placement, and kick. It is my opinion from personal observation that the snap is slower and not as accurate. I am sure the X coaches are fine tuning this.
