  1. Two weeks ago I thought PRP beats Manual handily. After Male beat PRP so bad I thought what a statement Male had made. After seeing PRP against St. X, I just wondered where all this hype about PRP got started. They are not close to the team they were last year. I did not see this as a victory on Manual's schedule in the early season. Now I will have to eat my words and Manual will fininsh the season over .500 and it will include a victory over PRP by 14.
  2. Ballard will have to wait till basketball season to get the Rocks.
  3. Who among us should question Coach Redmond's strategies and tactics? There is a running clock to prevent humiliation. That is the KHSAA rule to address these type of games. There is no rule that says "do not try hard gentlemen we do not want to hurt anyone's feelings". This was not a case of running up the score. It was the case, as in every game, of one team winning and the other losing. Be proud Bulldogs. Continue to work hard Raiders.
  4. Danville continues their dominance wins by 24.
  5. Ryle wins big this week by 28. They are a strong Class 4A contender this year.
  6. Funny, but no cigar. GRC will win by 6.
  7. All teams need a good rivalry. I hope they continue to schedule each other.
  8. Football in the end is the ultimate team sport. Successful teams have individual stars but play as a team and more importantly exist as a team. These days with all the outside influences on the individual spotlight it takes a real effort for coaches to maintain the team concept.
  9. I just think it is great that there is community involvement at Boyle County from the parents, alumni, school leaders or whoever. It may or may not be misguided involvement, but it is involvement. I wish Jefferson County schools had more community involvement. It would make for better high school football and most of all a better experience for the kids. The parents have a right to question anything. It is up to school officials (superintended) to let the parents know if it is appropriate or not. You would hope that the parents have the right reasons for voicing concerns but in the end good school leadership will have all priorities moving in the same direction. Hats off to all the Boyle County programs on such great community support for your teams.
  10. I have not seen Butler play yet this year. I have seen Manual once against St. X. I think this will be a close one. I am going with the upset Butler -21 Manual -14. I feel there will be at least one upset in this district I hope it is St. X over Male. However, I can see it happening tonight at Butler.
  11. WOW! Them Bulldogs sure are looking tough.
  12. Hey guess what Officials are not always right!!!!! There are good officials, not so good officials, bad officials, and not so bad officials. Some officials know the rules and some don't. I feel there is nothing wrong with criticizing officials. It is part of the game. I feel there is nothing wrong with praising officials. It is part of the game. Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but there seems to be alot of newer officials. This is a good thing because I believe that in Kentucky we have had lower numbers of officials than we have had in the past. I hope there are enough experienced officials to go around. There are so many rules officials have to keep up with and they are different depending on the organization the officials are woking for for a particular game. There is no substitute for experience when it comes to officiating.
  13. St. X's Terry Cooper kicked a 52 yarder vs. Bishop David in 1977 at old Cardinal Stadium with no time on the clock just before halftime.
  14. I do not feel one way or the other about the dead period. I do know that there are many dedicated kids who will work out and practice on their own during the dead period anyway. While I believe that kids should participate in all sports, the fact is kids are beginning to specialize in certain sports long before they reach highschool and play and practice in the sport of their choice year around foregoing participation in other sports. Once a kid reaches high school he may not make the teams in all sports, as a matter of fact, it is becoming more rare to see a multisport athlete in high school. If kids want to practice and play a certain sport or all sports 365 days a year, I see no harm. Most kids will leave high school and will not participate in any organized sports after that. The more participation the better. I do not see it hurting the kid.
  15. I was not trying to knock on Highlands schedule. Please see my other posts re: Highlands. Usually they come out with a victory or two over higher classed teams. Mine was a true concern as I have read in other posts that Highlands has been "beat up". Highlands does not have to defend their schedule to no one. If I understand correctly they even requested to be moved from 3A to 5A in the new 6 class system. I would suspect some 6A schools were relieved they did not request 6A. I hope that X continues to schedule them. They are more than a test on our early schedule but a formidable foe.
  16. St. X in a big win 42 - 0. Too much fire power for Manual this year. I have not seen Manual this year and am basing my opinion on what I have been able to read about them here and other places. I do know a couple of the kids on Manual's team personally and wish them luck in all their other games but realistically I see three or four losses to come on Manual's regular season schedule.
  17. PRP had a rough time against North Hardin. Is PRP as good as they were last year? It is a little early to predict but I can not see Male losing this one.
