Simon Kenton and Scott both have ZERO out of area enrolled football player. Dixie has a huge advantage over those two schools. Maybe I missed something, but I didn't notice that Kenton county schools built a new football facility at Scott or SK. If you think that doesn't attract perspective athletes from around the county, you are living in fantasy land.

It is not a wash. Dixie has traditionally been the most football competative high school in Kenton County. It now has new fascilities that give it an even bigger advantage when it comes to open enrollment. I do not understand the complaints about playing a school that has much smaller enrollment. It is not against the rules. If it were, the BOC would not have accepted the appeals. Lets face it, the descision is better for NKY, and better for competition across the state.

I don't think that any of those teams petitioned to move up to AAA. There is nothing wrong with moving up a class to increase your competition level. It doesn't make sense to deny it. Dixie, although a public school, has open enrollment. This is an advantage that should allow them to compete with the big boys across the state. If Dixie would have petitioned in time to move up to AAAAAA, then they would have been accepted. They didn't ask for this to happen till they found out Highlands and Cov were going to be in their district.

Two a days help immensely with your early season physical conditioning. Nothing gets you in shape for playing football, better than playing twice a day in the head of August. BTW, You are still allowed to have two a days for a whole week. One of the practices have to be in helmets only every other day. I can't imagine being in shape for game one without them.

You don't think teams should be able to move up? Highlands would be AAA. Have you seen the teams that are going to fall in AAA? I don't think you would have the same opinion if Highlands and Cov weren't moving into your district.

Cincinatti has arount ten catholic schools in a city with a similar population to Louisville that play football. Louisville has two. There talent is a lot more deluted in Ohio. One large city in the whole state with only two catholic high schools, and open enrollment in their public schools. There is an advantage that is not seen across the state of Ohio.

Use your head and open your eyes. Do you think that your line is ever going to work harder than the lines from T and X. No. You will never beat those teams by running the ball against nine. A coaching staff that maximizes wins by adjusting to player talent and opponents weakness will go much further than someone who lives off of well, we will beat them if we are more physical than they are. That has never won AAAA football. The best running back to ever play in this state didn't win under that system. Until this mentality is changed, Boone football will continue to be stagnent. BTW, I don't speak from a spectator point of view. I have seen Trinity coaches be willing to change time and again. I guess that is one of the reasons they have won 5 of the last six.

Coaches who don't change with the times soon find themselves behind the times. You do not have to abandon a tough mentality and a tough running game to effectively throw the football. An I offense can produce an excellent passing game. The key is, power I and two tight wing bring too many people in the box. You can't score against a good defense with this philosophy. You must flat out be more physical than your opponent to run the ball against nine in the box, which is what you invite with these formations.

I think coaches should be repremanded for encouraging an athlete to only play one sport. It is taking away that young man's opportunity to be a high school athlete.

Zeke Reynolds had a pretty good career in the NFL on the O line. I think Rob Reynolds should likely also be looked at on that offensive line.

I think we need to remember that this is ALL STATE. That doesn't mean those who work the hardest or put forth a great effort. That means that they are the BEST players in the state. The sad fact is that it is not a self esteem contest, everyone that is a good hard working football player in this state is not All State. We need to remember that when we apply personal bias. Ask yourself this question when you look at an athlete. Was there anyone better than him playing his position in the state this year?

I agree. Very slow and physically weak for his size. Shown to be out of shape every game. Not an all state football player IMO.

Schmitz is not an all state player yet.

It is about being a great HIGH SCHOOL football player. I also agree that to be all state, you should have to be getting it done against good competion.

I see your point, but remember the concept of team. You can't have one member of the team contributing harder than the other, and have both of those members trust one another. There is a trust that is developed through mutual hard work and dedication. Different expectations for different players doesn't form a team. It is each individual player's responsibility to give himself over and conform to the concepts and expectations of the team. To be a great football player, you have to place the good of the whole above yourself. You must also realize that the good of the whole involves you giving everything you have. A player should be a better MAN for going through a football program. One of those first lessons will be that what he wants or thinks may not be that important. I will grant you, that is a hard lesson for some young men in today's society.

Do you think that you will ever be able to compete with these teams by keeping your work ethic and dedication demands lower than their's? That is a pipe dream. A kid doesn't help a football program out that isn't dedicated. At least, he won't help a football program out when the going is getting tough in competition. NCC and Beechwood do not have five times the people to choose from. They win football games by being dedicated and disciplined. They beat more athletic teams all the time.

A football team isn't a buisness. You have to be there because you love it. You either learn to love the game, the grind, and the discipline, or you will act as a anchor to those around you. Do you really think that Trinity, St. X, Beechwood, Highlands, Cov Cath, New Cath, and so on keep players on their team that are not 100% dedicated? I don't think so. It is your job as a coach to make your guidelines tough enough that the bad either become better, or they decide that it is not for them.

You ask every kid to come out. You lay down a strict set of guidelines. If they do not follow these guidelines, there must be a set of punishment. That way thay either become dedicated or disapear. Half dedicated players, if allowed to remain on a team, will eventually hurt the team. You must have the highest demands of every member of your team as far as attendace and discipline goes. If you allow one to remain that doesn't meet those demands, he will brings others on the team down to his level of expectations.

Did Kaelin have 4 intereceptions in 261 attempts this year? I doubt that he is better than Petrino.

I am afraid that I am 0-0 against the ads. I am not a Newcath fan. That sounds like very sour grapes from a fan who's team had ample opportunities to win a football game, but managed to compile enough mistakes to lose.
