Football playoff setup is messed up!!!!

Who cares about 5 or 6 years ago ... you claimed the 4 best teams in 4A were on the same side ... they aren't. -

When was Boyle County one of the top 4 teams in 4A at any point in this season? As far as 4A goes ... Bell and Lex Cath are probably the two best teams in 4A ...probably should be in capitol letters. There are several teams on the other side of the bracket who will have something to say about it. Lone Oak, Warren East and North Bullitt are all better than Rock and Boyle. -
Lexington Catholic 41 Boyle Co. 12 (4A)

So much for that. -
North Bullitt 20 Marion County 13 (4A)

Marion was overrated all year .. it was a given that Bullitt North and Bullitt East were better ... the only surprise here is that it wasn't by more points. -
Second Round: North Bullitt @ Marion County
mh2365 replied to gchs_uk9's topic in KY Football (High School)
If North plays the way they did last Friday they will win this game by at least 2 TD's. I say 42-20 North -
North played a great game ... Bullitt East never showed up. On 4 occasions BE gave up first downs on 3rd and 4th down by offsides penalties. Gave up 1st downs on 3rd or 4th and 15 or longer 3 times. Turned the ball over 5 to 6 times. Saved their worst game for the playoffs. This by no means takes anything away from North, BE could have brought their A game and it still might not have mattered. When North doesn't committ stupid personal fouls and takes care of the ball there aren't many teams in 4A that can beat them. They will beat Marion by 2 TD's at least come Friday night. Good luck to the Eagles the rest of the way.

Great game played by North Bullitt. That is the team we expected all season long. Dalton Cissell had another great game. Bullitt East never showed up for this game. Dumb penalties and turnovers hurt us the whole game. We'd stop North on first and second down (sometimes third down) only to give up a huge play for a first down or a touchdown. We had 4 penalties give North a first down on 3rd or 4th down. We saved our worst game of the year for the playoffs. That doesn't take away from the fact that North played an excellent game. Good luck to the Eagles the rest of the way.

Congrats on the win .. good luck next week in Lexington ... I'm probably off this board now as my son played his final high school game tonight.
-
Yeah that would be great ... only way they can meet. I'll root for it.

LOL so now it's because you didn't have a coach that you guys lost to us in 2005 priceless ... that didn't hurt you all that season but it hurt you in that game. Hmmm. Show me any comments I made disparging the players or the coach?

BC hasn't really been ranked above BE since week 5 or 6. Not to mention Bullitt East is the team that started BC on their two year slide, so nope that's not it. I think your team will win tonight but to think you will win the state when you haven't beaten a team with a winning record all year is a joke. There is a huge difference between hoping and expecting. Like I said I don't have a problem with their team, players or coaches. I just get a kick out of unrealitic fans and people who base their opinions on what happened years ago. As a fan I like to think BE has a decent shot at getting to the title game ... as a realistic person I realize there is just as good of a chance that we will lose tonight. BC is like Mike Tyson after Buster Douglas beat him. No one is scared just to step in the ring with you guys anymore.

I'm still only 50/50 on our game with North. I would say the difference from 1-4 in our district is not very great. I probably can't see Larue winning two straight but any of the other 3 could come out of the district.
-
I agree ... even though we lost to them, we should handle them the second time around. I feel the same about North Bullitt. Their luck seemed to run out at the end of the year. I really wouldn't be all that shocked if Marion lost to Larue.

I know Bullitt East tried to schedule them this year and were turned down by Highlands.

How many crappy basketball teams qualify for the playoffs in KY or OH?

Lone Oak quarterback breaks state record!

As a Bullitt East parent I hope to get a chance to see the kid in person in round 3. While I don't want to see it happen at our expense .. how much fun would a Lone Oak - Fairdale game be .. you could see 1200 yards total passing. -
Montgomery Co. vs Woodford Co. Part 2

They did just fine without him early in the season -
Thanks .... good to see the stats ... but I'm not sure it helps the outcome any. Bottom line this is a pick 'em game. Like "time2punt" and I have said .. it will come down to who protects the ball.

My disdain isn't for the team, the players or the coach either. That doesn't change anything about the facts I posted above.
-
Wow that is a tough path.

Show me one thing I said in that post that isn't true
-
It's unrealistic to pretend that it wouldn't be a huge upset. When the best team you have beaten all year is East Jessamie ... it is hard to see you going into Lex. Catholic and winning. I'm not being a jerk (this time), everything I said in the last post is 100% true. I think it is great that BC fans are so rabid but to think it wouldn't be a huge upset is just not looking at the facts of the season. I'll say right now that if Boyle County goes into Lexington and wins it is probably the single biggest upset in the state this year. Please don't pretend that all 2 seeds are equal either.

I don't have a problem with the amount of teams making the playoffs (crappy teams make the basketball playoffs all the time)... but they should do away with the district play in the first two rounds. Go back to where you match up two districts. It should also rotate which districts play each year. That way you get better matchups and some of the first round games would be more intriguing even if they are blowouts because fans would get to see a different team. Plus that would leave great matchups like Bullitt East vs. North Bullitt for later rounds rather than a first round matchup. The problem (IMO) isn't the # of teams making the playoffs, it is who they are playing in the first round.
