While I realize that T has owned the playoffs (when it counts), many act as though X is a "paper tiger" (which is a laugh in itself as if it were a "paper tiger" it wouldn't have been to as many finals/semis as it has been recently). Let's not forget 48-16 and 30-6 (which qualify as woodshed treatments between these two teams). I personally feel that X was a better team team throughout the season in '05 and '08. I disagree with '07, as those teams probably could have split it 5-5 if they played 10 times, but the other two years, I think X takes 7 out of 10 and unfortunately for them, the final game, the one that counts most, wasn't one of their 7. Until X beats T in the playoffs, T has to be favored, but X was essentially a total of four plays away from having titles in '03, '04, '05, '07 and '08. It's amazing how football is truly a game of inches.

I take it things didn't go so well? Thought the line would be a strong point this year -- perhaps some more time to gel. How did Xavier do running the ball? Krags at QB?

Anyone get a chance to check out the scrimmage? Ox, you should be all over this, shouldn't you?

I'm looking forward to the Baby Bengals taking on the Bluebirds on 8/29. Should be a nice matchup.

Well, last year football was split head to head, we didn't play in basketball, and you did beat us pretty thoroughly in baseball. Clear edge last year in one sport. Congratulations. :dancingpa

LBB, X had four state championships and two runner ups. That's twice the number of top 2 finishes that SHA had. I think if you add up the state championships that SHA has had over the last 20, you'd find that they would be pretty far behind X. Just looking quickly, it looks as though they've won less than 30 state championships over the last 20 years, which X has done over the last 10. They do have great programs over there though.

TA, you better get a state championship in baseball first before you go claiming to have a "clear edge." X also has some state titles in basketball, which is something T can't claim (granted the last one came when my father was at X).

Nothing worse than not winning your final game as a high school athlete. I don't care if it's the last game of the regular season because you didn't make the playoffs or if it's the state championship. There's a tremendous amount of pain in knowing you're never going to play organized high school football again. Then you go to college and take up rugby, and it eases some of the pain.

I could see a situation where Trinity could have a losing season with just three weeks left to play in the regular season. Talk about a tough opening 6 games. Interesting that X and T play Cincy X in back to back weeks. I wonder which coach will not make the Cincy Elder trip so they can scout X/X on the 11th.

X had four sanctioned state championships, two runner-ups, and one final four appearance. LexCath had one state championship and two elite eight appearances. For a school its size LC is great, but I don't think many would agree with your statement.

Something I learned a long time ago, since I wasn't the biggest guy on the field, is that mass x velocity = momentum. I'd rather be hit by a 230lb. LB moving slowly than a 160lb. DB coming on full speed.

Cooper, I know of one preferred walk-on who was told when he arrived at his in-state SEC program that there was not a spot available for him. Being preferred doesn't guarantee anything. A lot of guys go the preferred route at FBS schools even though they may have FCS offers. It makes no sense to me, but to each his own I suppose.

Terp, sure there are some really strong schools in Jefferson County, but 7 of the bottom 10 high schools are also in Jefferson County.

I always felt that Wags was a great RB coach, and he has had a ton of great RB's in the past, but him leaving could allow someone who is perhaps a better QB coach to come in. They will miss his fire on the sidelines though.
