Just confirmed with Trinity's SID, St. Xavier and Trinity cannot play at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium this Oct 2 due to the Big East choosing that date for the Pittsburgh blowout win over U of L. It is the only Friday game for U of L this coming season. Trinity and St. Xavier will weigh their options!:taz:

 

I am guessing they will move to Saturday night because I doubt U of L would have booked another event , i.e. Band Competition, that same weekend. :banana: U of L did the year it rained so hard that the game was called early.:lol:

 

I believe several class reunions are held that weekend from both schools. :ohbrother:

Maybe we should petition ESPN to drop the Pittsburgh game, have UL/Pittsburgh move to Saturday, and have ESPN keep their plans to come to Louisville and broadcast the Trinity/X game.

He is getting $$ for UofL to play on ESPN on Friday, why on Earth would he cancel that $$ for a hgih school game. He made the best decision based on what the stadum was built for, UofL games.

Now that I've given this some thought, we could move to Old Cardinal Stadium, bring in some bleachers for the outfield, go head to head with U of L and outdraw them. They'll be 1 and 2 heading into the Pitt game and ESPN2 can discuss what is happening a mile away!

 

Sunday night may be viable. Sunday afternoon would hurt the CSAA.

 

Saturday 10/3-UK/'BAMA at Lexington, game time TBA - we could go up against those teams, but....

I agree, this coming from a UL fan. X and T have been on Friday nights ever since I can rembmeber going back to the mid 70's. Its almost sacrilege to not play THE GAME on Friday night. Now I have no excuse to leave work early on Friday(unless they move the frosh or jv game to Friday). Now the pep rally at 2 seems a little premature for the students, get fired up and wait 30 hours for kickoff?? I don't like it.

This is no big deal by any stretch....if Trinity and St. Xavier are upset about getting bumped...play at Trinity, otherwise accept Saturday, and be done with it...much ado about nothing...and I also feel if the weather is right, the crowd will be gigantic.

^I'm glad there is some rationalization now. I was hoping this wasn't as big of a deal as it first was made to look. I guess having multiple rivalry games played on Thursday's and Saturday's because of volleyball tournaments made me feel less than sorry for the situation.

I really could care less that it's being moves to Saturday, and actually feel that it will boost attendance...I would venture it may be moved to Saturday's permantly after this game.

I have a son that will play in the game next season. It's really not a big deal to him. As far as the UofL game, If this is going to be the only Friday night game for the Cardinal's, I am happy it won't conflict with my kids High School game. I have UofL tickets and look forward to spending both night's at Papa John's. UK fans are going to have to make a choice, but I tend to agree with RockPride, we'll be the only High School game that night so attendance could be bigger than ever with all the other school kids in the area available and looking for something to do that night.

Might be kind of fun to see this game on a Saturday.

I seem to recall in recent years there have been some Saturday night T - X games. They seemed to have worked out alright. :clap:

I think it could help attendance. I know my son can't usually come home for it on a Friday night. Maybe more former recent-students could make it if it weren't on a day they have class at their current school.

I know Louisville's work productivity will increase that Friday.
