Never understood this argument. Just because I went through it doesn’t mean every generation should have to. I’ve known many people who died from cancer. That doesn’t mean I’m against finding a cure… The problem isn’t necessarily the debt, it’s the outrageous cost of attending. We agree on this. Fix the cost of attending and I’m all for a one time reduction of debt. I really like the idea of zero interest, not a handout.

I’m also ok with this.

Electives are slap in the face to students. Classes that count towards the credit requirements for graduation but are not needed for the degree. I sleep better knowing my Dr. took advanced pottery, world music and screenwriting 101 before being accepted to medical school ?

I’m all for it but not until they get the absurd cost of higher education under control. If all debt was erased today, more debt would start piling up tomorrow. Canceling debt without addressing the true issue is pointless.

No clue about Jameison, never heard of him. Love the Nolan and Manning hires for Payne though. A good young recruiter and a veteran bench coach.

I read somewhere that Oscar would be getting around 2 million in NIL deals.

It’s a no brainer hire if it secures DJ. If we’re being honest, minus the scandals, UL is in close to the same shape UK was in when they hired Cal. They’ve become stagnant. The University name doesn’t carry nearly as much clout as it did years ago. A new coach and a quick influx of talent can change all that in a season. Payne was a solid hire. I don’t think he was the first choice by a mile but they absolutely could have done worse. It will be interesting to see how he recruits at UL.

It’s tough to beat a good team twice in a row. Duke has been kind of up and down this year, but they still have a really good team. I’ll go with Duke by 5. Duke 76 UNC 71

No shame in losing to an elite 8 team ?

I’m with ya.. All the statistics said they should be a final 4 team at minimum.

They are who they are… If you picked them past the elite 8, you’re an idiot, myself included… I really thought this was their year. Complete bracket buster. They play no one the last 8 weeks of the season. Why I continue to believe in them is beyond me.

As good as he is, a guy like Oscar just doesn’t have a place in the NBA. He’d get abused on defense.

Hopefully Brooks has taken plenty of foreign language classes in his time at UK. A foreign league is the only way he sniffs a pro contract. If Alex Poythress had his confidence, we’d be talking about a hall of fame level pro. As good as Oscar is, his game doesn’t translate to the league. Tyler Hansbrough is the best comparison I can come up with. Hopefully he’s back. I see zero reason Sharpe doesn’t go pro. He should if he’s projected in the lottery. I suspect we have Fredrick, Oscar, Wheeler and Brooks return an build around that with the incoming freshmen.

Yuck ! That’s a terrible loss. Plenty of blame to go around. From the coaches to everyone but Oscar and Toppin. Just a horrendous loss.

March sadness

Payne is probably the best UL can do right now considering the state of their program. It’s a high risk high reward hire. Zero head coaching experience but most assume he will be able to recruit at a high level. That’s yet to be seen without the backing of UK/Cal/Nike. I actually hope it works out for UL. Bluegrass basketball is much more fun when UL is competitive. If it doesn’t work out, UL runs the risk of mirroring Indiana. If it’s Payne, I wouldn’t consider it a home run hire, but still a good one. I genuinely don’t think they could have done much better currently. Unless you’re poaching away a proven winner, coaching changes are always a crapshoot.

Same here. Vegas has them at +850 to win it all. That’s good for the 4th best odds. I let that guide me a little.

Agreed. He may end up an NBA all star, but his rating out of high school doesn’t coincide with what Cal looks for. Best of luck to the young man.
