Cody Gilbert has really boosted his stock since playing in some tournaments in Bourbon and Frankfort. Some D1 schools calling with a lot of NAIA schools on the board now as well.

Listen, the best team gets their award for winning the reigon, while the player of the year is just that they are the best player. Mike Fields watched Cody play in the Kentucky Bank Shootout and came away so impressed he wrote an article about Gilbert for the next weeks paper. They are some really good players in this reigon such as Dixon, Hicks, and Rich but Gilbert really in a lot of people's mind within the coach's the best player in the reigon. Again not taking away from everyone else just stating that imo he is the better all around player. One thing else the regular season don't mean anything now, best I can see it is everyone right now can not have a better record than 1-0.

Wolfe has a distinct advantage in the interior, with Jackson being very well balanced at the guard position. Should be a great game, and the winner will have a definite shot at winning the big one too. This is going to turn out to be a great 14th reigonal tournament. I am going to take Wolfe by 7. Anybody know who got player of the year in the 14th.

The Wilson kid is really unbelievable, he is 6'0 tall and a sophmore and yet he has played against some of the best centers in the state and did his fare share to make sure they weren't the ones to beat us. Some people to note that he has gone against....Russel Allen from Bourbon, Howard from Covington Scott, Rich from Lee County, Leslie from Prestonsburg, and Mcgowan from Morgan. All of which excpet for McGowan he held close to a season low. Like I have said many times on here anyone can win the reigon, and if the Wolves play defense like that the reat of the post season they have a chance, of course nobody will or should give them very good odds, but I will never quit believing that the Wolves have a chance. Tournament time is crazy and very unpredictable. By the way Breathitt County and Coach Hall is a class act and in my opinion a very good coach and a team on the rise for the future. Congrats Wolves.

Gilbert is easily the player of the year, tied for the states leading scorer, and th on rebounding with numerous colleges looking at him. The Wolves haven't won as many games as they would have liked, but post season is a new season, with everyones record at 0-0. The kid averaged 30 and 12 a game. No player comapres to that in the 14th.

Lee played well and hit the free throws down the stretch to seal the deal. I do however disagree with a couple of your assesments, the fould count in the second half was 12 to 2, with a lot of could be calls down low in the fourth. I also think Preston Wilson did a great job defending Rich, the kid is a 6' sophmore going up against what very well could be the best post in the reigon and holding him to 14 points with I know of 6 of those coming against a zone. Very good game by the Bobcats though, good teams do what they have to for them to get the W and that is what they did. Again if Wolfe can play like this throughout you never know what might happen. I still believe that 12 teams could win the reigon with of course some teams with a better chance than others.

It is actually not a cast it is more a brace. He got it fit just for him. He will be playing tomm night against Lee. He is not 100% rather clost to about 85%.

I take exception to that, since the fact that the 2001 and 2003 teams gave up less than anyone else in the reigion, but agree on the fact that this year they have been stinking it up. They really need to step up their defense.

When has a kid been suspended then returned for Wolfe, over such violations that you UK4life are insinuating on. Please tell me.

Yeah the same team from the first half definately didn't show up in the second. They came out really flat. I was very proud of the way they fought in the first but the game of basketball has two halves and you must play both. Perry did a good job of making a run in the second to shut the door.

Who have you heard from the Wolfe is getting a new coach. This is the first bad year they have had in over 8 years. I would like to know were some of you all get your information.

He is not the best player in the reigon. Cody Gilbert is the best player in the reigon, ask any coach in the reigon except for Hazard's and you will get the same results as what I am telling you, and I would know because I have asked. Hicks is in my opinion in a pretty close tie for second with him and Bailey. Hicks is a good ball player just not the best in the reigon.

No, he will probably be out until the Buckhorn game. About 50% chance he plays against Letcher Friday night, and about 75% for the Buckhorn game. He will definately be back for the Lee County game.

Wolfe was only down by 4 at halftime. They came out flat in the second half and got blown out. It was actually only a 7 point game with two miutes left in the 3rd. Congrats to Perry on a good win, Bailey played really well for the Commodores.

I'm basing on how they faired against all the other big schools. Owsley has had a great run too in the last 7 years, and I am not taking anything away from them. Wolfe went to a reigonal final during those years too. They made it to one All 'A' final too. I believe the All 'A' is a great tournament and I RESPECT the champions each year who wins it, I just feel it is just as hard to make it to the final four of the reigon as to win the 14th All 'A'. Again that is not knocking the All 'A' because I would be thrilled if Wolfe ever won one, but up until the last two years the 14th All 'A' has been a race of Owsley, Wolfe, and Hazard. Now you have a lot better teams in it with only one what you would call a easy win. Everyone except Riverside and possibly Jenkins had a legitamate shot at winning this years All 'A' reigon, but in years past I don't think anyone could say that. Again not knocking Owsley as Wolfe County would have loved to won just one of the many they won, I ust feel anytime an All 'A' school is at least given the chance to win the big reigon they would take that over winning the All 'A'.

Cody will be back next week sometime, if not for the Perry Central game then definately the Letcher central game. The part of the hand he broke is a common injury for basketball players and they actually have a brace just for that type of injury. The doctors say everything looks good and the brace should not effect his shooting or anything else.

Wolfe County, 1997,1998,1999,2000,2001,2004. With going to the reigon all of those except 2003.

No, I am still here. Morgan County played a great game and are a great defensive team. They didn't allow the wolves to get into any sort of offensive set. All the credit needs to go to Morgan County for their win, they are a good team and I wish them luck. As I said before they played Estill County, there are two ways the Wolves would rebound from the loss to Buckhorn, one would be they would have fire in their gut and put that behind them, or they would go into a slump for a little while. Obviously the second part happened. I still believe that come post season time the Wolves will be right there in the running for a district title. By the way I'm just glad everyone has Wolfe with such a high prestige, this is a credit to their Head Coach and what he has done since he has been there. Some people forget that Wolfe is a single 'A' school it's not like they have 6 or 7 hundred kids to choose from. Like I said before show me another single 'A' school in the 14th who has been to more final four's of the reigon in the last 8 years. Again congratulations to Morgan County on a much deserved win and good luck to them throughout.
