Have to give props to the Leslie kids. Breathitt will be the team to beat next year. Good luck eagles vs midlesboro. I think Breathitt will be good for years to come. Look out for the bobcats in the future.

This is really sad. A few years ago Berea had a quality football team that finished fairly well in district standings. I think the problem there is that they have gone through so many coaches in the last little while. It is my understanding that the administration especially the superintendent and the faculty are not big football fans. They lean more towards soccer. Coach Mills is a quality guy who needs to get out of there or he may never recover professionally. Sad indeed.

Where does Central Hardin fall under the new alignment ? Who will be in their district ?

I will be there for this one. I will take the bobcats by 13 in what is surely to be one of the greatest games in the Mts this year.. Go Breathitt !!

Read YOUR pre-season predictions LES and read things YOU wrote years ago... You simply dis-like clay. I subscribe to newspapers from nine counties and you are one of the writers that tries to tear down those teams around you. You are a "homer" and it shows. I have no dog in the fight. I am a Breathitt and Perry fan but it seems like you have tried to put a negative spin on the Clay County season and their players. I watched Perry play Clay and I can tell you one thing, the tigers are a good team. I also know that that WHOLE district has made a habit of scheduling teams that are awful in order to try and have a winning record going in to ther Rock and bell game.

Does not every team in this district other than Rock and Bell play a weak NON - district schedule ? Look at the NON - district schedules of KNOX, CLAY, LETCHER, and PERRY and most of all SOUTHERN..... Add them all up and you will find that ALL of these teams try to pad their schedule with weak teams like McCreary Central, Rowan County and Evarts to account for the beating that they will take from rockcastle and bell.. Come on guys, it is all about being the small fish in a pond that has TWO large sharks in it.... Good luck to all teams in the Mts. However, Les you have had it out for the tigers from day one. If I remember correctly, you were the guy that said Clay could not or would not continue their success.. I tell you what will be interesting to watch is the DISTRICT game between YOUR north laurel jaguars and the tigers , colonels' , commodores, and cougers. Let's see what you have to say then... I say congrats to Knox and good luck to the tigers. Both teams only have a handful of upper classmen... If the truth was told around here, the commodores of Perry Central have the TOUGHEST non-district schedule in this district other than Rock and Bell and Perry has the worst record in the district. LES needs to be realistic..........

I think Mercer would beat Danville this year. Next year and in the years to follow, the score would be different but this is the year of the titans.

Rockcastle will pick the score in this one. I say Rockets by 42.

Sadly, I see the tomcats coming out on top by 35. Lawrence is still a couple years away from competing.

Has Estill gone back to traditional football, or are they still running the double wing ? I watched them in the playoffs a few years ago and the running game was impressive. It looked like a street fight taking place in a mud hole but it was impressive when the backs broke the long runs.

To call it the "Franklin System" is to give WAY to much credit to Tony Franklin. Truth is, he is a thief that took the offense from Mumme , who took the offense from Edwards. It is in no way or form Franklin's system. He just had the insight to market it and hook up with another crook "Rush Probst" and saved both of their careers. I know that if you have FAST defensive people, you will destroy the "system" at the high school level.

You have to understand that Yogi Kinder would have let him rush for 2 million yards it possible. Yogi is all about himself and stats. Matewan could not beat one fourth of the teams in Ky's class 1A and 2A. Bottom line is that Kinder wanted this and he got it. Just hope someone will return the favor.

Like you said, Clay has an ok team. Perry has Willis and Travis. I think Perry has enough big play makers to beat Clay County.

Rockcastle will destroy Bell County. After the close game with an average Leslie County team Bell showed many of their weaknesses. Rockcastle will be better prepared and better coached. Look for the Rockets to blow them off of the field. Rockcastle 42 Bell County 14

I watched Breathitt play Cawood and they did struggle at times but I expect them to rebound against the eagles. Leslie does have a nice defense but I think the bobcat Offense is maybe the best that Leslie has faced yet.

Perry coming off of a near miss vs Knox Central and Clay County coming off of a big time beating. Who wins and Why ? My prediction: Perry Central 29 Clay County 22 Perry realizes they can play with the powers in the district while Clay realizes the exact opposite.

Breathitt will win but it will be close. Breathitt has the offense and Leslie has the defense. My prediction is : Breathitt 14 Leslie 6 In a war.

Don't follow mtn football much do ya ? Clay has been to the playoffs the last two years. However, they usually do get beaten by Rockcastle County and Bell County so you are half right.

LCA ? Aren't they a class A school and Somerset is just a class AA school. I can't believe that Corbin would step down to that level to find competition. Surely you are joking. Tell me they are going to play Bell and Rockcastle or somebody better.

From what I understand, Corbin will be playing Somerset, Trinity, St X and Male just to name a few of their non-district competition. I don't think they can squeeze Bell in there with that type of schedule.

I did not think Breathitt would shut them out but I thought they would win. Lawrence had some good looking players and the future is bright for their team if the parents and school will be patient with their coach's, Breathitt still continues to play well and looks like a contenner for the district title.

I plan on being there for this game, even though I don't think Cawood will put up much of a fight for the bobcats. I say Breathitt 38 Cawood 6.

Will Russell and Mercer be meeting in the state title game ? How did the blind draw work out ? I can't remember if they will meet before the title game of it it worked out to where they can both make it to Louisville.
