Week 5: Harlan vs. Breathitt Co.

Featured Replies

What is everybodies predictions for this upcoming game?

Harlan is riding high on a 4 game winning streak, but is Breathitt Co too powerful this year for a stingy Harlan defense?

Harlan is good this year but I gotta go with Breathitt County...good luck to both teams...Being a Pikeville fan it seems we play Harlan every year in the playoffs and I say we will see you guys in a few months. I hope you guys keep winning and win district 7 but Breathitt will be tough to beat...they seem to be getting back to the Breathitt of old, slowly but they are gettting there.

"Dragons Suffer First Loss"

This will be the headlines this Saturday in the Harlan Daily Enterprise. Harlan is going to get their first taste of real good football this week. I know Breathitt Co. 2006 isn't the same Breathitt of old but I don't see them loosing this one. I know Harlan is 4-0 and #8 in the state or something like, that but Breathitt is a traditional 2A powerhouse, not 2A Cawood. I see Breathitt having little to no trouble picking the Dragon secondary apart in this one. Also I know Harlan is more balanced this year than they have been in the past but it sounds to me like the passing game isn't all that great for the Dragons. It does give them a little bit of a big play threat but not enough for this one. If Cumberland can shut down Lundy (60 yds rushing or something like that), I don't see Breathitt having a problem doing it. Also, I know Will Pope was rated one of the states best receivers coming into the year but he hasn't seen the other side of the goal line yet. For Harlan to win he has to step it up and play. Harlan will have to bring its “A” game to this one if they want to win.

Breathitt Co. : 42

Harlan: 21

I hope to get proven wrong, but I doubt it will happen.

This is Harlans statement game...Yes, they're 4-0, but, have yet to prove anything to alot of folks due to the competion level, to date...Breathitt is not the Breathitt of old, but, still is a tough game...I'm going to go out on a limb and give Harlan the nod in a close one...27-21

Harlan may have a little more than they can digest at the present time. But it will make them a more solid football team for the future.

:argue: When some other folks play Cumberland, they will see that Harlan has played good competition. I'm not saying Harlan can beat up on a good 2A school every night, but on a given night? Maybe. I'll be a homer and say:

Harlan 20

Breathitt 14

Breathitt Co. 27-12.

Harlan is a little overrated after going 4-0 against an extremely weak schedule.

Still think they can keep it respectable at home against Breathitt...

Senior/Junior dominated club. Playoff experience. 2-0 in a very competitive district. Cumberland very talented, probably has ability to challenge any team in our region. Anytime you step up a level, should be a huge challenge, however I'll be a homer and bet that the Dragons will give the Bobcats all they want.

:D Of course this is possible. Saturday will tell. By the way, you have such a pleasant way of putting things.

I hate to say it but Harlan goes down this week to an extremely good Breathitt team!

The point of scheduling up-class teams and teams that are very good is to make your team better. Breathitt's program is a class program and is making its way back to the top of its class. Playing them can only make Harlan better, win or lose. And I'll maintain that the Dragons have a shot at home against this fine team. I guess I just don't understand folks who use verbs like "throttle" and "destroy" and such, when they know the kids read these posts. There are better mor "educated" ways to get your point across. Most folks on this board are respectful and I've not seen many I told ya so posts, but there are always some who write before they think.
