  2. I agree with you as well. I think that those kids are going to be good in the future. I actually think that the Luttrell kid helps Harlan more on defense than on offense. I think that having him might have limited Cumberland from scoring 1 or 2 TD's and maybe he could have scored one himself. Overall though I agree. The two kids who played last night put up good numbers to be so young.
  3. I hate to see Harlan loose the overall series record to Cumberland, but I think everyone saw this coming. I'm not in the business of making excuses, but Harlan just lacks speed and size this year. Coach Donahue is doing all he can do with these kids and I don't think anyone can/is placing this season on his shoulders. Not having the Luttrell kid, for whatever reason, has hurt Harlan the last couple of weeks. I don't think that he would have made the difference in the overall outcome of this game, but it might have been more presentable. Don’t give up fellas, there are still games left to play…
  4. I think that if this does happen then they will be in the hunt for a district crown with Breathitt. Then if they can beat Somerset (should be a good game), I don't see ANYONE beating Belfry in the near future. Just my honest opinion.
  5. 5 - LSU 3 - Clemson 3 - Ohio St 1- Tennessee 1- Wisconsin 1- Nebraska 1- Oklahoma 1- Rutgers 1- ASU 1- FSU TB: 38
  6. They MIGHT beat Air Force and Stanford... They WONT beat Navy. Kiss that 40+ game streak good bye Irish...
  7. LB, I'm glad I got that cleared up too. I would not want anyone to make fun of either of those two gentlemen. As far as Harlan Co. going to 5A, I didn't know that either. I figured they were still going to be in the Scott Co distrcit but if they are playing in 5A then they can probably do pretty much anything they want strategy wise. Thanks for the info though, I didn't know that.
  8. You know what, you're right. Has anyone seen Donald the football manager from Evarts lately?
  9. I going to go with David Davies from Harlan High School. He is an offensive football genius and his name seems to be coming up a lot for this job. I also heard that Jeffery Bittner (a well known man from the Evarts area) is going to be hired as the head baseball coach. Just speculations,
  10. I have to disagree here. If you were at the game, you would have seen this. That fullback dive you talk about is a veer dive, which is completely different. In addition, I don't recall seeing fullback trap at all last week.
  11. Harlan High School: It is a toss up between TJ Dunson ('96) and Jamie Jacobs ('01) as far as stats go.
  12. Oregon -5 Mich St. -3 Alabama - 3 Clemson - 1 Cincinati - 1 BYU- 1 U of L - 1 N. Iowa - 1 Pitt -1 UCLA -1 TB = 64
  13. Being someone who has dedicated the last few years of his life (and at least the next 8) to the study of warfare at West Point, I can tell you that Iraq has definitely not shown us this. If you want to talk about a massive offensive then look back to 2003 when it took us almost no time to get to Baghdad while we were going against a very well dug in, battle hardened enemy and we were drastically out numbered. We would have less trouble getting to Tehran due to the fact that something like 90% of the Soldiers and Marines currently in service have combat experience and know how a battle is fought (compared to probably less than 15% four-five years ago). What we have found in Iraq is that our Soldiers were never trained to be policemen. We didn't train to be peacekeepers before the war; we trained to the last war we fought, which has been the case throughout history. If this war has shown us anything it is that the military can no longer train for the "last war" but instead must train for the "next war". It is disputable that our military is too small to police Iraq right now, but if we went into Iran then there would have to be a draft put into place. There are no questions to be asked about that. Our ground forces are too small to police three countries at once. However, if we were to attack Iran it would be fairly easy given that we could attack from Iraq and Afghanistan. These staging areas provide us with supply lines, very convenient air strips, and a choke hold on the region that would prevent that nut case president from escaping into another country like our boy Osama did. This war would be very doable as far as an offensive goes. However, the nation building to follow would prove to be a much longer, harder process than that we have encountered in Iraq. Iran is full of Hezbollah and other terrorist organizations that are battle seasoned and look like Al Qaeda on steroids. The main point is that our military is still large enough and sophisticated enough to be very successful on the offensive. Okay, I'm off my soap box unless anyone would like to hear more…
  14. Looks like Coach Hensley and the gang are getting this bunch back on track. It is about time the line started playing real football and not powder puff...
  15. Wow... Congrats to Coach Mills. I don't think anyone saw this coming. Maybe a rematch in the first week of the playoffs at KC?
  16. WOW... Jenkins with the HUGE upset. This gives Jenkins a huge chance of making the playoffs in this district. Don't be suprised if Evarts falls apart after this one. It will be insteresting to see how they bounce back next week.
  17. Harlan High School: Toss up between Murph Howard and Gary Greer Jr.
  18. 5 Arkansas 3 Appalachian St 3 Georgia Tech 1 Bama 1 UNLV 1 Michigan 1 LSU 1 Arizona St. 1 Illinois 1 Air Force TB 72
  19. I think that the SEC will be represented in the National Championship game this year. I think it will either be LSU or Florida and that whoever looses that game in the regular season will turn around and beat the other team in the SEC championship game, and then go on to win the National Championship. I will take LSU in that scenario. So, LSU looses to UF in the regular season, then beats UF in the SEC championship game, on their way to winning the NC.
