Just curious if throwing a punch is an automatic ejection or just a personal foul. I could of sworn I saw a Manual linebacker stradling a HHS lineman on the goalline just opposite of where a touchdown was scored when it appeared the Manual player punched the HHS player in the head. A referee was not more than 10 feet away looking right at the two players. I asked the fans on either side of me if they saw the punch and nobody did. Was that caught on tape or was I just seeing things that didn't happen?

Heard he practiced with the team yesterday. Sounds as if he is a man among boys.

Barren County (4 seed) beat Glasgow(1 seed) in OT.

Makes you wonder if some of these kids lives would of turned out differently if they would have received some of the same love and support they were shown during this game by their family and friends when they were growing up.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery for both Brandon and Hunter. Saw Hunter go down on what seemed like the last minute of the Central game with an ankle injury but sounds like he played on a bad wheel most of the season. Didn't look like it slowed him down a bit in the title game. Obviously a very tough kid. Hope he doesn't push his recovery period since those sound like time and rest are the best treatment. Unfortunately the most difficult medicine for active and motivated 17 year olds. Best wishes for both.

Thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. As others have said , One of the nicest guys you could ever meet. I'm sure he will approach his rehab and recovery in the same way he attacked running backs as a linebacker for the birds.

I can walk to the games next year and will and would drive anywhere the birds are playing!!

I thought it might be a good idea to alternate the format and let classes 1/3/and 5 play on saturday and switch back and forth each year. As a class 5 fan it's tough to get out of work to make it to the nightcap in time and impossible to catch the early games. Although next year I'll only have a 2.1 mile drive to the games!!!!

I always get a kick out of seeing the kids of friends you went to school with out there from 20 -30 years ago. Some look and play like their dads others your like where did that body come from??? By the way, all the Rollers I remember were 5'8 to 5'11" fire hydrant builds, mean as snakes , and liked to run into anything that moves. Then I see Brandon at about 6'2'' about 210# and runs like a deer.(still mean and likes to hit things) and wonder where does that come from? Sometimes I wonder if Dale has a degree in genetic enginnering and spends his time in the bowels of the locker room trying to build the bigger faster bird. I think the Bankamper -Collinsworth experiment was a major success!!

Sorrry to hear about the serious injuries to the players involved . Hope they both recover quickly. From the few games I saw this year, B. Roller played a significant role both offensively and defensively. He seemed to be the go to guy in the third and long passing situation and seemed to come up with a tough catch when needed. Who steps up to fill his role and will he be missed more on the offensive or defensive side?

I think in general it is difficult to appreciate how special a community is until you come in from outside our until you leave after being born and raised there. I spent my first 30 years in Ft. Thomas and still have parents and siblings there and the siblings have never left and now have children in the school system. After living elsewhere I tend to appreciate my Ft. Thomas roots more and more. Obviously people feel the place they were born and raised are special for their own reasons. While football is king in Ft. Thomas, I think it is extra special for a lot of other reasons. I do believe their kids work a lot harder than in any other community I have resided in and a lot of that comes from years of tradition. By the way when did the mandatory shaving of the heads and riding your bike in August end??? I also believe the FTJFL does a great job in giving the kids a love for the game at an early age. I've seen other little leagues and had a son play for the first time last year. Unfortunately our experience was somewhat dissapointing. Apparently the goal of some coaches in the league is to run off as many of the weaker kids as possible to make your team more competitive. We started practice at the beginning of the year with 26 players and started the season with 16. My son much to his credit completed the season but I think he dreaded going to practice and never really seemed to enjoy the game. This year he decided not to play and proceeded to tell me some of the things the coaches said to him last year. I venture to say this type of behavior would not be tolerated in the FTJFL. I think the coaches know that some of those less athletic 9 and 10 year olds may be the key pieces to your high school team winning an 18th state title for your community. For what its worth from a proud cake eater!

Greenwood repeats as state champion with a 6-5 win over North Laurel . Amanda Bailey hits a solo homer in top of 6th to break a 5-5 tie. Rachel Riley gives up 3 earned runs and only runs of tournament but holds on for the win. Congradulations Gators!!!!

For what ever reason my BGHS friends seem more concerned about playing OHS in the playoffs over JH or Christian County. I know OHS always gives BGHS a tough game even when BGHS may have alot more talent on the field.
