The school is loaded with athletes. They now have a coach has the kids believing they can do big things.

Central is for real. Not a lot of size on defense but extremely quick. May give the Purples all they can handle again this year.

John Hardin vs Lex Cath ought to be a good one especially with the big showing JH had against an athletic Henry Clay.

35- 0 bg at half. purples score on blocked punt, punt return and fumble return for td. ACHS really struggling to do anything offensively. this one is done and I'm going to bed.

Hope to make it to a few games this fall. Will wonder by and catch up. How come You never sit in the stands? Figured it was an ex lineman thing. Better viewing angle to watch the big guys up front.

If it's the strain of Blue Flu I've had before, the only cure is Larosa's pepperoni pizza, Dixie chili cheese coneys with onions, 2 Zantacs, a Bluebird victory and in the not to distant past, as many cannon blasts to the ears as you can tolerate. Unfortunately I can only get two of the above in Boyle Co.

I was there but can't even remember what happened. Every overtime was chaotic and the team you thought had it salted away would blow the lead. I think in the 4th OT, BG scored with about 15 seconds to tie game. WC took ball out to lose the ball fouling Bg on the field goal attempt. Bg misses both free throws with about 10 seconds then fouls streaking Central player who makes both foul shots with 3 seconds. Game over or something like that. Behanan had 28 points and 25 boards. and Fant had 23 pts and 18 rebounds. Incredible game and just an appetizer for yhe regionals. You can watch the game on Ihigh.

As a former Shield's player in the late 70's, I've really enjoyed following this thread. Just curious if the armory is still a haven for pick-up ball during the summers. I've been away from Ft. Thomas for about 30 years but as best as I can remember if you played Bball for Highlands you were expected to be at the Fort sweating your bottom off every night during the Summer. Coach Shield's was often there checking out who was serious about their game. With the likes of the Arnzen brothers, an occasional Dave Cowans appearance, Doug Schloemer and Dicky Beal, plus your usual past and present Bluebird players it made for an unbelievable basketball experience and all and all made Highlands Basketball a much better program. Just curious , any body still play at the armory and is it even open? Maybe that's what is causing the impending demise of Highlands basketball. No Jr. Pro basketball and no pick-up ball at the Armory. Not likely but that was some serious basketball played at the Fort.

Don't know if this has been posted but those heading south may want to give yourself some extra time. I-65 South has been reduced to one lane just south of Park City and traffic has been pretty bad. May be able to get off at Park City and take 31E down to BG. Safe travels to all. Go Birds.

I've not seen Bell or Boyle but I've see Allen Co. Scottsville and some of the better western ky teams including Bowling Green. Allen Co. has a very nice team with good size upfront and some speed and talent in the backfield. I sure wouldn't overlook ACS as a possible surprise to give Bell or Boyle a game in the state championship. Not sure if ACS might of beaten BG if they would have played one another this year.

Christian Co, scores 14 pts in last 2 minutes to upset BG. Onside kick recovered after late score allows Christian to score Td with about 20 seconds remaining. BG controlled 2nd half after scoreless Ist half.

I'm not so sure at this point BG is the team most likely to meet HHS if HHS can navigate their way through the east side of the bracket. BG really made their task more difficult by losing last week to Warren Central. They most likely have to travel to Christian for a second round matchup and if they survive that they get crosstown rival WC again. They are nursing some injuries that have hurt their team speed significantly. Honestly I think Warren Central may be the better team right now and that doesn't even take into account John Hardin who is playing well. Only time will tell but I still would have to consider HHS the favorite to win 5A. BGHS will be the heavy favorite next year.
