Please don't take my above comments and think I'm implying BG got lucky by beating X last night. BG was the better team and deserved the win. I just wasn't impressed by St. X as much as I thought I would be. Maybe HHS could play the Purples in a future Rafferty's Bowl and satisfy everyone's curiosity as to who is the states number 2 team. BG is supposed to be even better next year!

Against my better judgement,I'll put my 2 cents worth in. I've seen BG twice and Hhs once this season. Like last year I would take the Birds in a close game. I feel fairly comfortable Dale would find a way to slow down Fant who is amazing and if someone else beats you so be it. Everyone in the stadium knew where the ball was going yet St. X seemed to make no adjustments. Throw in losing your starting Qb and any chance of a effective passing game that X showed in the first half, multiple procedure penalties,delay of game and too many players on the field penalties, all of which lead to a St.X loss. I personally feel Scott Co. looked a couple of tds better than X. I do feel that BG is different animal this year with a very small but lightning quick defense. Passing game is very efficient and Hayes throws a much better ball than Hollis from last year. Bottom line, if BG runs their chaos defense with 4 guys blitzing and 9 in the box, a team with a good running game, decent passing game, mobile Qb, great coaching staff, i.e. HHS, and I'll take HHS 8 out of 10 against the Purples. Since I' ve already stuck my neck out I'm willing to say I think the Steelman, Carpenter, Moore and Hines team from a few years ago is better than either of BG's last two teams. Also have seen Warren Central this year and I'm not sure the Dragons may not be the 2nd or probably 3rd best team in the state in any class.

Well put. totally agree. Still think HHS would win a head to head match up this year but it would be one heck of a game!

Have to agree with Leatherneck's breakdown on a BG / HHS matchup. I've seen both teams several times but BG about twice as often as HHS. Just 2 weeks ago BG still beat Greenwood convincingly but a pretty bad Gwood team moved the ball relatively well and had the ball inside the 10 yd line on 3 or 4 occassions and got nothing. Last night BG played lights out and now the big margin of victory has everyone thinking BG is the obvious #2 team in the state. One thing BG has over HHS presently is that they have had virtually no serious injuries while HHS has lost their best receiver and probably one of their best linebackers for the year and have several other starters not at 100%. That being said I'd still take the birds by a touchdownor two for the exact reasons Leatherneck stated. Still hope BG gets a title this weekend because I really like a whole bunch of their seniors and they truly deserve a championship. Otherwise won't lose too much sleep if it's another 16 years between titles. Leatherneck, assuming you watched the BG/ Lexcath tapes. If so, why did Dale not go after Bolin like they attacked the CovCath qb. Obviously a win is a win but after watching how BG shut down Bolin with lots of blitzing thought HHS would do the same and actually thought HHS would beat LexCath alot worse than they did.

Bg defense has outscored john hardin 28- 13 in 1st half.
